He hasn't actually done anything to deserve losing his place to be fair to the lad.

Not being very good three seasons back in a role he wasn't familiar with seems a slightly mean spirited stick to beat him with. Bit harsh to completely dismiss his development into the role over the last two seasons.

Even Norrington-Davies is coming back from injury.

It is going to be harsh not picking him in a back 5 against Palace.

I would not be surprised to see:

Baldock-Ahmedhodzic-Egan-Robinson-Lowe

I'm not his biggest fan, a good footballer with a strong character is spot on, the trouble is Robinson is character first good footballer second, wouldn't be concerned about losing him if RND is back and we can afford another higher quality defender like Coady. If we can't then fair enough but I really hope we can aim higher.
Pretty much how I see it. A great bloke and I'm sure good to have in the team from a team spirit pov. But a bit of a blunt tool from a football perspective. Good at booting it down the line into a channel, but error prone, quite slow, not that good in the air and god help us if he's got the ball at his feet with quick PL strikers closing him down.

Maybe worth a squad place in case of emergencies but we've got to be hoping for better at LCB for the majority of the season. Maybe RND, but who knows how he comes back from injury or when. Also not convinced he's PL standard but probably more pressing concerns with a limited budget.

Against those quick footed premier league strikers how long before he gets his first red?
One thing we will miss if he's not playing is his long throw, next season more than the last season they will probably be more important as we won't be creating as much as last season.

Yeah, he's a red card waiting to happen, particularly with fucking VAR. The problem is that flying into tackles and imposing himself are large parts of his game, take that away and I'm not sure what's left. In the Championship refs are likely to give the benefit of the doubt, particularly early on in the game. VAR will send someone off in minute 1, no problem.

He May not get many starts if we have other options ! 5 subs 9 on the bench means he could get on for a last throw of the Dyce if we need a goal as has been said his long throws could set us up for a set piece goal
Call it clutching at straws if you like but goals come that way so.metimes.

A solid Championship player is JLT but no-way near good enough to start in the Prem, or even be on the bench..... if you need a reminder just re-watch the semi-final v City and look at how Marhez, who didn't even have to get out of second gear, absolutely destroyed him.

Appears we have offered him a modest contract which reflects the fact that he will probably get very limited minutes next season....if he wants to be playing regularly he will leave....

I see Phil Jones at man utd is leaving for nothing, never a fan of his at the upper premier level and for England but be a brilliant acquisition for us at the moment, I know, wages 😡

the offers weve made to robinson fleck and osborn will undoubtedly reflect the game time all 3 are likely to get next season up to them really but i suspect all 3 may get better offers

I don't understand how he is much worse than Egan who also is a very limited footballer but strong tackler, good in the air loves a big challenge etc. Egan does little more than launch it long and frequently loses possession, Robinson i feel offers a bit more with helping build attacks and is arguably better on the ball. Robinson has been caught out a few times with some howlers though. He’s more error prone.

On the balance of things robinson is more likely to cost us a few goals but egan definitely concedes possession more frequently (which will likely lead to conceding goals). Their roles in the team though have a baring on this.

I personally see value in Robbo. Some of his tackles are as good as a goal!

If you watched how we attacked in the first part of the season with RND & Lowe it was completely different with Robinson.

I really like Robinson, he's everything you want in a player representing your team. However, I do feel we lack creativity when he plays & he's so incredibly slow I worry for him against some of the wingers/ strikers he'll be coming up against next season.

I know he wasn't the only one but for christ sake. Can anyone remember how much of a bomb scare the guy was in our last season at PL level.

He was a walking red card or mistake every game.

Marhez destroyed most defenders last season that's why he is a league champion, bit harsh that in a game we never got a look in after the first minute

His lack of athleticism would be exploited by every opposing team with much relish I imagine. Good backup but not a starter.

This, with all due respect. JLT is a bit of a Blades legend these days, in the literal sense of the word.

It's all about opinions but I'm surprised to see so many on here seemingly oblivious to the huge uptick in levels between Champ and Prem. For those that think Robinson will be able to hold his own next season, it would be worth watching the semi-final in which Mahrez made him look as though he was wearing lead boots. He will be badly exposed if he's a regular in the side next season IMHO

it wouldnt suprise me if we didnt bring holgate and rodon in to challenge egan and robinson

I doubt Utd would burn both loans on defenders - I'd be worried if they do.

Perhaps one may be a perm but the more pressing need is a replacement for McAtee and a striker - perhaps even a GK should a top drawer one be available???

Not harsh at all....Marhez may be an exceptional player in an exceptional team but JLT up against Salah, Saka, Kane, Garnacho, Toney, Watkins, Havertz.....the list goes on.....the result would be the same.

maybe not but hecky obviously wants another centre back to come in and we definetly need another keeper to come in to challenge wes as for doyle sounding like city only want to sell so big decision needed from the club personally i would pay 10m for him if thats the price

I agree - the players I think we have that are up to it are:

Baldock
Egan
Anel
Berge
Ndyaie

Questionable

Norwood
Bogle
McBurnie
Brewster
Fodders

All the others are nowhere near.

So that’s 6 signings needed in my eyes.

GK
LB
CB
MD
MD
ST

So the match day squad would like this:

1. GK?
2. Baldock
3. Anel
4. Egan
5. CB
6. LB
7. MD
8. Berge
9. MD
10. Ndiyae
11. ST

Subs

12. Norwood
13. Bogle
14. McBurnie
15. Brewster
16. Fodders
17. Robinson

That’s a decent bench to pick from but I fear we will see most of the bench players in the starting line up

Hi Stegosaurus here,

Agree with the first five. Disagree with the next five. None of them are anywhere close to Premier League level. Worth keeping for the bench, we can't get rid of ALL the deadwood or we'd have no squad. But there is zero chance any of them are near Premier League level.

That's pretty much where I'm at JA. 👍

Egan made more than twice the amount of passes that Robinson made last season and he had a better pass completion percentage whilst doing it. If Egan frequently lost possession it would be much, much more obvious, with him being the last man.
