Ethan Ampadu

I saw the highlights of the game, he was at fault for 2 of the goals in a 3-1 loss. He did score one (deflected) and hit the bar late on but all round looked very lacking.

It amazes me how people can feel this antagonistic to a guy that was 19 when he was loaned out to us, a team that was one of the worst teams in premier league history. How was he supposed to shine in an environment like that?

He came from a Champions League team, had already had a season in the German top flight, and he was the big ticket loan signing for the season. So I guess his age didn’t really temper expectations.

And a bit like Lundstram, he got far more game time to display his ordinariness than he would have had in any normal season.

He was one of the worst players and reasons we were in that situation. I lost count of the number of goals he cost us as an individual.

Only player who had a worse season was Brewster and maybe Norwood. Even Lundstram was more the invisible man rather than single handedly costing us a tonne of goals.

Are people whitewashing how horrific he was because he tried hard or something?

Reading the replies to this thread is rather amusing I guarantee none of you have watched him since he played for us

It just goes to show that having the qualified badges does put me above the majority of people on this forum in terms of how important my opinion is

There’s actually quite a lot of Chelsea fans who would like to see him at Chelsea next season

Just a few stats that I have put together many of you may not know what those stats mean as I have a coaching badge and you don’t

Why would you want previous failures playing for us again????

Yeah I'm pretty sure you're a troll now, either that or just a complete and utter plank.

1st goal - absolute donkey slams the ball into his own net, sunday league stuff.

His goal - two skanky deflections.

Veronas 2nd goal - JESUS CHRIST he is absolutely all over the place.

3rd goal - not as horrific as the 2nd but he's just not a very good defender is he.

Loads of people ripping into ampadu in the comments, awful player.

Let's give it another three years, eh?

Looks like he's making the same mistakes as before.

The highlights could have been from 3 years back!

Feels like he needs to take a step or two back if he wants to move forward. Best option would be a season at a middling Championship or even promotion chasing League One side.

Check the big name at the door, learn your craft and knock the mistakes on the head. Also lock down a position to specialise in (maybe CDM).

Won’t happen - he’ll go to another fairly prestigious club and continue to look pretty ordinary.

Wouldn’t want him here as anything other than cover, which I doubt he’d want to be.

Was never that impressed. Remember him having one or two decent performances.
That's it. V.poor season though for us too.

I never felt he was quite strong enough for CB overall.

I think there are better options around.

He's clearly a Jonah too.

Sorry FB but stats to me a useless. Exactly how much precedence does a Badged Up Coach place on stats?
Pass Accuracy 90% means nothing if 89% where Declan Rice 3 yard passes.
Dribbling, does a 15 yard dribble out of defence unopposed count?
I bet even our Wesley's stats make him look like an half decent goalkeeper?.
Interceptions, does a shite pass from the opposition team count as his Interception?
All ways wondered if coaches really pay much attention to stats, or is just something TV pundits use to make them sound as if they know what they're on about. Interested to know your professional opinion on stats.

Controversial maybe but I would take Ampadu depending on wages , fee etc because I reckon a new permanent home would do him good and I would also trust Hecky and Staff with his development . All about opinions and not saying I’m correct either .
As ever UTB !

Not particularly antagonistic, just agreeing with the sentiments expressed. Not kicked the cat yet

Stats are misleading, for example, Norwood does his best to avoid heading the ball, he might head it once, therefore getting a 100% rating for heading ! No one mentions the times he loses a heading dual, Like wise when anyone tackles etc

As I’ve said I’ve watched him a lot this season and even last year and for wales

He was there best player at the World Cup

Like I said to play that many games in the Prem/Serie A / Bundesliga he clearly is a very good footballer

Again the people ripping into Ampadu are doing it cause they don’t have a scooby and haven’t actually watched him play

Stats are a clear indicator of a player IMO

However they can be misleading , for example Norwood who was high for tackling etc

He’s gonna make the most tackles/passes etc as he plays the position on the pitch where he gets the ball the most and takes every free kick

Fiorientina are supposed to be signing him

Can’t be that bad

Jack Robinson was beyond gash for nearly 18 months at the start of his United career and look at him now.

Sharp scored over 100 goals and 3 promotions don't compare him to a Ampadu fella.

Ramsdale was shite for half a season and we got a great deal on him.

The majority of sharps goals have been in league one and he has started 17 premier league games in his career

Ampadu has started 80 games in the prem & Serie A and played well at a World Cup

I’m not slagging sharp off but we massively overestimate how good he is IMO

If he was that good he wouldn’t have played his career outside the Prem

I’m sure Arsenal will be saying they got a great deal on him after his performances last season

Nothing against the guy but in my opinion he is a very average footballer.

Not doubting your claim but who are the Chelsea fans that you are aware of that are wanting him back.

I can say with confidence and without coaching badges that he won’t be a regular performer at Premier League level over the next 5 years

That's at least 2 posters in this thread that haven't got coaching badges then ;)

I saw every wales game at the world cup, he was utter crud and most certainly wasn't the best player in a pathetic excuse for a wales team.
