We tried the, get them back to their best idea with Rodwell,Mousset, Morrison etc, and look where that got us!, you're not Chris Wilder btw are you?Interesting article on Glen Kamara, there's something slightly familiar about how he's no longer favourite at Rangers!?I don't know what's happened up there but with our budget being what it is, signings like this and Coady fits into this bracket also, where decent/experienced players become available for relatively not that much definitely have to be looked at because if you get them back to their best you've got a really good player on your hands for not that much money. I do however recall the Prince saying (this summer and before) when we bought players permanently they would be to develop/younger players which neither Coady and Kamara are but we'll see. Also if we signed Glen Kamara we could do the "Kamara" chant again! Ok, not particularly original but I used to love the Ooh Chris Kamara, ooh Chris Kamara repeat to infinity!
Saying all of that, I think the link is probably just lazy journalism from the last time we were quoted as having an interest and I would expect a loan move for Doyle more likely to fill the defensive midfielder role.

Berge will play in the middle of the 3 and be our player of the season. If Kamara is right footed and will play on the right side of midfield then we might as well call him a Berge replacement, sell Sander now and give Hecky a bit more money for recruitment. I could live with that as we'll lose Berge one way or the other next season anyway, so we'd already have his replacement in now and a fee rather than him walking for nothing.

No mate... seems some are still stuck in the Mcabe eraThought we would be over this weird obsession with wanting to sell our best players by now
I can't see that. He's played RCM almost exclusively.Berge will play in the middle of the 3 and be our player of the season.
He's more manoeuvrable than Norwood who has played there his whole careerI can't see that. He's played RCM almost exclusively.
I just don't think he's manoeuvrable enough to play in the centre of the 3 either.
Is he? I don't think he is.He's more manoeuvrable than Norwood who has played there his whole career
Why so cold on Berge. You could say you’re an ice BergeIs he? I don't think he is.
Higher top speed sure.
He has here but I think he was originally brought in to replace Norwood but Berge struggled to adapt and Norwood lasted longer than we thoughtI can't see that. He's played RCM almost exclusively.

I agree - he’s much more mobile than he gets credit for. But he doesn’t (in my view) keep his energy levels high for long… I prefer him further up the pitch because I don’t have much faith in his tracking back/covering. I want Ndiaye and Berge in front of the main CM pair providing the creativity and attacking outlets.I think Berge moves more than most think but he looks like he doesn’t if that makes sense, though I have always disagreed vehemently with the lazy stereotype thrown at him I can see why many think that watching him move around and thinking he is lightweight
He was exceptional there this seasonI can't see that. He's played RCM almost exclusively.

I don’t mind him playing deep if we get other options, he only played further up because we had no other options there and then did well enough in spurts that people wanted him to play further upI agree - he’s much more mobile than he gets credit for. If he is further up the crucial part (as always) is getting the ball to him (and Ndiaye). My thinking is that they’re both capable of dropping deep and we just flood the midfield to make sure we get a foothold in games that are passing us by and bring that creativity to bear.I don’t mind him playing deep if we get other options, he only played further up because we had no other options there and then did well enough in spurts that people wanted him to play further up
I can see him next season being less effective further up, due to opposition being better and then fans turning on him if we struggle
Hopefully not but def a scenario that could happen
Berge in the centre of the 3? Any examples? He was exceptional there this season
Oh yeh, we have seen glimpses of what he can potentially be and maybe that’s what Hecky sees next seasonIf he is further up the crucial part (as always) is getting the ball to him (and Ndiaye). My thinking is that they’re both capable of dropping deep and we just flood the midfield to make sure we get a foothold in games that are passing us by and bring that creativity to bear.
Sounds good in theory at least.
Berge is far more mobile than Norwood but he doesn't have the same defensive instincts. Too many times Berge was been caught flat footed in the middle and we coughed up chances (or, as Sunderland, goals). Norwood's reading of the game is probably his biggest strength and that's why he ranks so high for interceptions and tackles.I agree - he’s much more mobile than he gets credit for. Tommy Doyle is right-footed and seemed to play ok with Berge next to himIf Kamara is right footed and will play on the right side of midfield then we might as well call him a Berge replacement, sell Sander now and give Hecky a bit more money for recruitment. Berge in the centre of the 3? Any examples?
I'm a Berge supporter, but he's given no indication to me that he's good in that position (that I can remember!).
Wonder if Luton & Burnley fans also started talking about selling their best players as soon as they got promoted…..just so they can fill the squad with championship level shite. No mate... seems some are still stuck in the Mcabe era![]()
And he was playing in between Lundstram and OsborneHe has here but I think he was originally brought in to replace Norwood but Berge struggled to adapt and Norwood lasted longer than we thought
I could see Berge in middle
He played there nearly every game since Sunderland awayBerge in the centre of the 3? Any examples?

A liability?? In whey sense?? He is going to be playing a far greater technical league compared to rough and tumble of the championshipHe's looked a liability every time he's played deep.
He's athletic but not agile and he isn't great defensively.
Personally, I'd sell him due to his contract situation but, if he's staying, we need him at the top of the pitch where he can (when he wants) make a difference.
Doyle did that, on paper. Though perhaps we were more flexible in that period. He played there nearly every game since Sunderland away
Shit, are we selling Iliman?Berge will play in the middle of the 3 and be our player of the season.
I actually find that hard to argue with. He's looked a liability every time he's played deep.

Its a little harsh, and I'm a big Berge fan, but tough to go against.
The deeper he plays the more he seems to make mistakes. I wanted him to be a Norwood replacement, but he's far too different defensively.
