On Radio pig as I'm typing this, little conversation that interested me with the thought of him back at the lane. For any of you who missed the conversation basically said that he wouldn't say no to anything in the future.

Just got me thinking..... Bit far away I know, but suppose we go up this season.... Cracking signing wouldn't you think? No hoof ball, I think under Danny he'd start playing as he did for scunny years back.

I could see Sharp doing a Deane.

How many other players have played for us on three separate occasions?

he's been crap twice. do we really need him to be crap a third time? may aswell just bring back adrian littlejoy

Scores for fun in the right system - but I lost lots of respect when he rejoiced in scoring against us.

By the way, it would be great if a few Blades could support Billy's charity next week, it should be a good night and a good cause, we're going.

Football aside I've a great deal of admiration for how Billy has dealt with what happened to his boy, massive strength of character to play on that night

You never know... look what Wilson did to Ched. If we did manage to get him anytime in the future (highly doubt it) he definitely would fit in with the system in my opinion.

dark forces at work though. he's jinxed for us. happens all the time. both ways. just look at how many players have been great for us, then moved to better teams and looked like utter muppets.

Sharp is a decent player but he does need to be in a certain system and when the system is changed he goes missing.

Which is why he is not a top striker but just a Championship one.

I do rate Billy though but I think there is too much water under the bridge to even imagine him back at the lane.

3rd time lucky perhaps?

I still think he'd be a cracking shout, I think under Wilson we would play the passing game he flourishes in. Hard to be a poacher when its lumped up to you 6ft in the air and your only 5ft summat!

Wages I don't think would be an issue as he would want to play, Going up would also free some wage budget.

I just think in the past, the type of football we we're playing didn't suit him. I also think we would need additions upfront providing we go up and i rate him higher then anything we have at the moment upfront.

So when your wife / husband laughs at you when you slip over or do some thing accidental resulting you making a fool of yourself, you loss all respect for her / him.? I don't think so. Grow up

Billy has gone on to prove his doubters wrong and that he is indeed a prolific goalscorer and major attribute to a team at Championship level.

Shame he didn't get a crack at the Prem. Maybe Adkins just didn't fancy him at that level and he may well have been right. Maybe not.

What is crystal clear is that Sharp was NOT used to good effect at the Lane under Hoofwell and showed us precious little of what he is clearly capable of.

The player is now well outside of our "league" in terms of transfer fee / wages and even if we were to get promoted this season, Sharp would have many better options than the Blades if we are being totally honest with ourselves.

Top championship striker that would come with a £2m-£3m price tag and wages north of £600k p.a.

But, as others, I do see Sharp wanting a third crack at the Lane for personal reasons. Unfinished business so to say.

But alas, not in the near future.

I'm sure Billy would do well in Danny wilsons system, but we have an abundance of strikers (and will no doubt keep the majority if we go up). I'd be more concerned about getting a couple of wingers in.

The development lads also need a chance to prove themselves, the likes of miller

billy also seemed to put pressureon himself and seemed to try too hard rather than playing his normal game

I'd be open, but maybe a third time wouldn't be wise

That's a rubbish analogy from a rubbish contributor.

Only Deano, I think.

I remain convinced that by the time Sharp retires he will have been a regular scorer wherever he goes, except when he was with us. If we signed him again, it would be no different.

Anyway, there's not a cat in hell's chance of us attracting someone on Sharp's wages whilst McCabe is in charge, even if we do go up.

I'll second that. I had hoped to donate a painting to the auction but my offer was made after the brochures had gone to print. I'm currently racking my brains about what to paint for the next one.

I think Sharps celebrations against SUFC were totally and utterly directed at the management of the time. After all, he's just a fat lad from Sheffield, isn't he?

And Jon Harley

Oct-Dec 02 (loan)
Sept-Oct o3 (loan)
July 04-Aug 05 (permanent).

Maybe if we go up & forest dont get him on a perm we should sign him on a seasons loan?

Let's go up first before we start talking about bringing Billy back!!;)

It's a very good one and you know it

Just because it's football, people get silly ideas and think it's ok to verbally abuse other teams fans and players

got a 3m striker to score goals in the 3rd division? Bryan Robson could have done that.

i never thought Billy was good enough to play for us. 2 chances is twice as many as you're meant to get, in my opinion.

i was having this chat with my dad the other night whilst listening to the Swindon game and we both said we think he'd be ideal under wilson. However i said in last years team yes but in this years team no simply because of the lack of service the front to are getting. Willo and quinny in a wilson side would provide all the service billy would need. Previous spells billy has had with the blades has been with hoof managers and therefore he never stood a chance. He has scored goals with ever other team other than united and that imo is for a reason.

Ched had 2 years to prove himself and failed, the 3rd year, apart from the conviction, went very well for him. Surely Sharp would play better in a more comfortable setting.

possibly, but i dont think he'd come anyway. as for Ched, i dont watch United that often but he always looked lively to me, but the service was terrible. on a rare attendance for me, i saw us lose to Hull. at 2-0 the game was gone til Ched scored 2 remarkable goals, only for Bullard to nick a winner. i said that day if Andy Reid doesnt stay, we'll get relegated.

he didnt. we did.

Wages I don't think would be an issue as he would want to play,

I'm sorry mate, but really? I imagine wages will be a massive issue as I can imagine he's earning a fair whack on his Southampton contract, we'd probably end up paying him a higher wage than what he was on last time at the lane.

Like pretty much every other blade, I'd love to see Billy come back, score a hatful (especially against the pigs) and watch him spearhead our promotion campaign. But it won't happen, I think there was far too much pressure/expectation on him last time which didn't help. But I agree it would interesting to see him in a different blades team.

I think he would have been happier in last season's team than this season's.
