That’s a great read.

I’m sure he went to Gleadless Valley school and I was in the same year while at Jordanthorpe. Seem to remember playing school football and I think cricket against him too.
I believe trenton lived around Pitsmoor and was spotted while playing for All Saints School at their old De La Salle site in Scott Road. His All Saints side had quite a few lads who appeared for Sheffield & England Schools and were trialled by United, Wednesday, Rotherham and Forest. David Frain, John Gora, Patrick Boulby, Andrew Campbell, David Artindale and Adrian Pipe come to mind. Frain ended up playing for the Blades & Stockport. Gora, I think appeared for Rotherham. Boulby, Campbell & Artindale I'm not sure about. Pipe was seen in the lower Belgian leagues. Where are they now? 🤣

My relation, the bulk of the family still live on Carwood just around corner from where Billy Sharp was raised.

Was at All Saints when he was there, a few years older mind, Watched him play a few times at school. No one could get near him.

That's sad Pommps...
Roger Dunn taught me before he went to Gleadless Valley (at Abbeydale GS).
Maths and form teacher plus managed the U 13's footie team.
One of the few teachers at Abbeydale I had any time for. Nice bloke.
I too was taught by Roger Dunn at Abbeydale Grammar School. He was an excellent teacher and also organised residential weeks every Easter for hiking. He always went out of his way to help me in my teaching career and is the reason for my love of of maths and walking in the countryside. He was an exceptional person. A big loss.

Adi Pipe from Herdings?

I thought Trenton Wiggan went to Newfield Green School, but could be wrong.

Agree with the comments on Mr. Dunn, great teacher.

His winning goal against Sunderland after coming on as sub in 1986-87 season?
Iv mentioned this before, one of my fav blades memories, Sunderland packed out the away end, up to then that was the fullest I'd seen the lane end, I went for the last 20 mins( the good old days!) frain came on with about 5 mins n scored last min winner

Sounds right, rememeber him catching the old 28 bus home from Pond Street after indoor football training at the St Vincent's gymnasium in Solly Street. He also trained with David Frain at Sheffield FC one pre-season before Frain was finally signed by the Blades.

John Gora was an intriguing one. He was an early version of Harry McGuire, mystery why he never made it, as he was well known to the scouts.

Patrick Boulby was another, so talented, known to the scouts and set to become the new Archie Gemmill. He was a ball boy at the Lane. Remember QPR's Dave Thomas freaking out with him once; probably speed of retrieving the ball when we were in the lead!?! 🤣

Looking at past threads, seems Trenton may have had some years on Gleadless Valley before moving to the Pitsmoor area.

Here's how Trenton looks now
He looks in good fettle which is good to see. He was in the team when I started coming down and although he was a great athlete he just didn't have enough footballing noise for that level.

Any idea what level he played at after leaving the blades

Yep, that bit sounds right. I seem to recall he wanted to be an air traffic controller when he left school, something like that.

I Had trial with buxton in 1993, got the train to stockport then one to buxton. Trenton played for them then. After the trial i was about to leave to get the train back to sheffield and trenton heard I was a pitsmoor lad and shouted me back, gave me a lift home, remember jamie hoyland's bro was in the car as well. I was only a lad and was proper in awe of them.

Don't think so as I remember him leaving All Saints at the end of Lower 6th, went to the old Richmond College instead, where he played in the old South Yorkshire Amateur League for a couple of seasons while studying Business & French, I think, which I presume assisted in Belgium.

He was the original 'sweeper keeper', way ahead of his time, before the back pass rule and long before the original Schmeichel appeared. But English coaches didn't get him. They saw him as too risky, even if he'd stop twenty attacks a game outside his box and get lobbed once or twice a season for a goal. How things have changed!

He must have played with Frain and Wiggan quite a lot at schools level, as I Remember him telling me one night at the Limit Club (!) that Frain was a phenomenally accurate penalty taker. He couldn't remember Frain ever missing a penalty for the school side as he had the ability to curl it at pace, directly in to the inside of the side netting, ball never touched the ground. Makes me think of a Shearer who could slam it into the side of the net rather than the roof of the net.

UTB

I was at All Saints a few years behind Trenton in the same year as David Frain’s brother John. He was quite a character and a great athlete.

Silent Blade ...... Did Trenton score against Hereford in the 1st game in the 4th Division ? 2-2 draw at the Lane

Did Trenton get 2 goals at home to Huddersfield the season we went down?
Memory fading in my old age!!!
Scored the second with a header. Bob Hatton scored the first. And then the "Flying Wardrobe" came on as sub to chants of "Fat B******" but he soon shut them up with two late goals for Huddersfield.

I remember that game Trenton scored to make it 2 -0. then Huddersfield scored a couple. I think it was pissing down with rain.in hindsight had we won that game we wunt have ended up in the old Division Four.
