Isn't it a bit fanciful thinking that Burnley players will be out on the lash all weekend before facing their nearest rivals and the only team who can deprive them of the title (albeit that thought is even more fanciful, but still a mathematical possibility) I would imagine Kompany will be in uber pro mode and have them revved up for Monday's game in order to avenge their biggest defeat of the season and put the title firmly in their hands. It's not the 1970's anymore.
depends on the players,,, day off could get alcohol poisoning or stay pro
last time we had this was Fulham at home
nice

Burnley won’t intend to go easy on us, it’ll be about the start of the game, score a couple’s early and they might just think “fuck it lads”. Like kompany says “it was a bad day for us last time, there’s plenty of motivation don’t worry about that”

'm not sure McAtee fits into the way we'll likely have to play if we get to the EPL. I doubt we'll be playing with 3 attacking players.
Partially agree that we will have to be slightly more cautious but I can only feel that our lack of attacking options/general negative approach played a huge part in our calamitous form in the top flight. Id personally like us to go in with that little bit more confidence to impose ourselves in matches rather than sit back and watch ourselves lose every game like we did last time out. ⚔️

I think he'll have to step up a lot defensively to play in that kind of formation in the EPL. I reckon we might play with 3 attacking players but two of them will expect to cover back off the ball and then break. Ndiaye can do this. Not convinced McAtee can. The game often passes him by whereas Ndiaye makes sure it doesn't.

do you think we will do a ''guard of honour'' there like bradford did to us? i really hope not.

No, Birmingham will have to do it for us after Burnley put together a 6 game winless run.

We don’t need their players on the lash to beat them. We have the tools and game to do it regardless.

Arrived at Turf Moor this morning with a congrats card signed by Hecky

On radio interview with kompany, saying Monday game is personal. Obviously still hurts we beat them. Let's hope we do the double

I have concerns.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not generally negative about the team, but we were quite nonchalant in midfield and at the back at times yesterday, and could've been punished on several occasions.

I just we could put the game out of sight more often, rather than worrying that we'll get sucker-punched in the dying minutes.
Agree with that, and it wasn’t until after the game reflecting (with a mate who’s a Wigan fan) that we concluded that it was actually quite comfortable, but during the game I was shitting myself that we’d throw away the win from a mistake when we should have been at least 2 up.

We definitely need to be better at finishing games off when we’re on top

Good.

Glad we’ve got under his skin. Had it far too easily. Hardly any injuries for one.

For all the love in for them, the main difference is when they took 12 points from 6 games in October time and we took 3 because we’d got up to 13 players out in an unprecedented injury spell.

So personally whilst they’ve done well, I don’t cede to them.

I look forward to JLT wanging the ball in like a fucking medieval catapult every time the ball goes out of play in their half. I look forward to McBurnie, Ahmedhodzic and Egan shithousing and roughing up the keeper and making him feel uncomfortable. Yes, they will feel irked getting spanked by 5 but in truth, they were lucky it wasn’t 7 or 8. Only good fortune in the first throw missing everyone stopped that being a goal, then Harewood-Bellis sticking a leg out to prevent a further goal kept the score from being truly embarrassing.

So yes, he can fixate on his own little redemption arc as much as he likes but, despite others not following our lead, we proved that when push comes to shove, their dainty defence doesn’t like it up ‘em.

I think with Baldock and Bogle in there, we’ll have pace for the counter attack as well, which was lacking last time around.

Go on Hecky give him more of the same!

I wish I could like this twice

If we win at Burnley we will be guaranteed a play off place.

Just saying like ;)

Similar could be said of Burnley though they have an achilles heel in their aerial defending in particular the keeper but not one team since us had tried to exploit that which I find baffling
In 1989/90 season Harold Wilkinson at Leeds was the only manager in the division that season that made sure one of his players would unsettle Tracey whenever he was about to take a kick because he was aware of Tracey's accurate kicking being one of our main factors in setting up goal chances. Was surprised no other manager used the same tactics.

i can only congratulate burnley. vincent kompany has done a brilliant job there. weirdly pep Guardiola & his 3 proteges (if you include xavi are becoming exepections to the rule that great players don't make great managers. pre season i thought he had made a big mistake. as with the large debt & clear out they had over the summer i was expecting them to underperform like Watford

in my opinion i thought that our team last season & watford team this season on paper actually better than burnley this season. so if anything kompany may have overachived & also i 2nd that i hope burnley players are going on a bender today & tomorrow
