email from club - NO MORE TICKETS ON SALE IN KOP - standing & wrong seat usage

Just had a look, plenty of tickets available on the kop, including the back rows closer to the south stand. No tickets available in the areas that have been closed, but that's no surprise.
Back of the kop is nearly all season ticket holders ,there is about 8 .5 k holders

My normal routine is to buy a ticket anywhere on the kop then stand at the top of E above the top exit (not sharing a seat).

If I were going I'd consider sitting or standing somewhere else, away from the 'problem area'. You can be sure that SAG and the club will be keeping a keen eye on how crowded it gets up there. They might even be checking tickets on the entrances to A-E.

Problem is, many people have a similar routine to mine, and it's hard to change the habit of a lifetime. I've been standing in virtually the same place on the Kop for 45 years.

Are there any steward specific tokens? I’m thinking of that elderly half a dwarf steward at the bottom of the Kop who will sprint a good fifty yards to try to wrestle someone’s arm up their back even if they are being led out peacefully after encroaching.

Thank you for your suggestion, the club welcomes all feedback.

We think this is an excellent suggestion and have added to the agenda of the next meeting between ourselves, SAG and SYP, the club will make a formal announcement in due course.

Sheffield United, solving problems by legitimising them since 1889.

Lots of "hilarious" banter on show here, but I'd like to personally thank the 30 or so stewards, who have literally, and I mean literally risked their lives by standing on the edge of the penalty area at the final whistle in recent weeks. I think we will find that their sacrifice has played an important role in this decision.

On promotion they’ll all join hands, run towards the Kop and dive to the ground.

The club really doesn't want to sell out any high profile games so they're making it more difficult for this to happen as ever.

I expect an announcement next week:

"The Club are happy to announce that if you were born on Shoreham Street between the 2 world wars, have a ticket stub from pre-1970 and have a customer number, then tickets for the remaining Kop seats are available for you to purchase.

Tickets will be on sale at midnight on 8th April and you must come to the ticket office in person but you have to arrive on a white horse with brown flanks.

We really thank SAG and the Council for making these extra tickets available to such a diverse range of fans and look forward to working with these two impeccable Sheffield institutions in future."
Finally the club starts catering for me!

"....on a white horse with brown flanks"
🤣 🤣🤣
Quality!

Seems to be just some Front and Middle blocks for the Wigan game - still not on sale for the later home games. Maybe a test to see how it goes?

Maybe we can sell Kop tickets but only as a last resort.
So these can only be sold when the others areas are a total sell out like on Friday.
Notice how they are still not selling tickets in the problem areas at the back of the Kop and the middle section of gangway G.

So the additional tickets are all at the front of the Kop and around gangway A.
Good to see.....common sense prevails, attendance should be close to 30K on Friday.

You have therefore been contributing to the problem that we all want addressing. Please go to your allocated seat.

“Shoooooooooooooooooot”

Great common sense has prevailed Tickets available on the Kop. I'm a season ticket holder with family and friends in the back row. near the entrance/exit, F. Be careful if you buy a ticket. a few min before kick-off. The stewards are coming up to the back rows looking to see if anyone is standing when all seats are occupied. they will tell you to go to the seat stated on your ticket. However, the stewards tend to disappear after a few min. makes no difference to us we stand on our seats. reyht on the back row. We're not bothered by who is standing up do what they want. Just be a bit savvy. look out to see if the stewards are around.

I haven't been taking anyone else's seat, just standing at the back. It's only a 'problem' because SAG has decided it is. Most fans don't see it as a problem.

They're not selling those seats because there are none to sell. They are all sold out to ST holders. Kop has about 8k season tickets I think and the only available seats to be sold are the lower wings and towards the south stand side.

The problem is not those who have STs in the targeted areas. It's other people who buy a ticket for the kop, but then go and stand around those gangways anyway.

So where exactly have you been standing if not in someone's seat? You're not, by any chance, blocking gangways and exits?

I get that, but if SAG consider it a problem, then it unfortunately is a problem. The message is clear, you have to go to your allocated seat. If everyone plays their small part then this issue goes away.

The issue doesn't 'go away' if you're forced to sit on your own at the bottom of Block J.

I appreciate that SAG are being jobsworth twats, so people should maybe think about avoiding the problem areas until SAG finds something else to worry about. Like fans mingling with their mates at the Arena during the ice hockey.

The area is being closely monitored by CCTV, and whether a steward is around or not there will likely also be people at the ground monitoring it. If you’re encouraging people to basically do what they like up there so long as a steward’s back is turned, you’re effectively encouraging tickets to be season-ticket only again.

Has the steward who battered that 10 year got done yet?!

You literally pick your seat when you buy a ticket. Why not just purchase a seat in the area you always stand?

If you've stood in the same spot for 45 years why not just buy the fucking ticket for 45 years!? I'm so confused.

You might not like it, but it does. And if people drift back to old habits, it comes back.

The people who do it won’t give a flying fuck, they’ve been asked numerous times now and it’s clear that they’re costing the club money but they don’t care and will continue doing what they’ve always done.

I imagine it’s the kind of people who think life is a constant ‘us v them’ battle and have been this way from school onwards.

Thick as mince.

Hold on Stand United. I am not encouraging Fans to do owt. I am warning them to think twice. if no stewards are around no one is going to tell them to shift are they..not our job.

I think he's on about standing at the back, which isn't the main problem. As I understand SAG are targeting the lads who stand together at the top, with more people on the row than allocated seats. I agree that it would be a good idea for these lads to park themselves somewhere less crowded for the next few home games. It might improve the whole atmosphere of the Kop if people were making a noise at the top of J/K

I'm fairly certain is because of people wanting to stand - not that they want to sit in that part of the kop - which is a fairly shitty, misplaced standing zone.

The core of the problem is the ageing population that insist (yes, it's their right) on sitting in areas of the ground where people are stood in many other football grounds. They take offence at people who want to stand, so the standers have flocked to an area where it's accepted - but then this has led to overpopulating these areas.

The club should declare a signing zone at the back, centre of the kop. The carboard cutouts would then move on, allowing for this to happen.

Apologies to those (like me) who've "sat in that seat for 20 years", etc. But your time is up.

....puts tin hat on.......:D

Because there are never tickets available in my place. It's probably the most popular area of the ground, and the only place where fans sing throughout the game.
