Look at Berge over his entire time with Sheffield United and someone please tell me when he has looked consistently like a £20mil player. He has the occasional good game but far too many where he shirks away and hides or is completely invisible. This isn't about making him a scapegoat. A scapegoat is someone to blame for something going wrong. We didn't lose today or against Boro because of Berge, so he's not a scapegoat. But he has been anonymous in matches far too much and not influential in anyway.

This anti Berge obsession is weird now. Blame the manager who weirdly changed the shape when we were dominating and Berge was opening them up (you change shape to control a game you aren't controlling, not one you are). We handed the momentum straight back to them when we were dominant.

The sub of Jebbo was also weird. He was our best player today. Oli has been injured, was fatigued and has been average at best since his comeback. Onto Watford.

Would do a better job than Berge. Absolute trash.

Slow at everything he does
Passenger every game
Sandra Bullock is not really a ball-playing midfielder. She'd be well out of position there mate.

Berge has a good game - Rolls Royce, best in the league
Berge has a bad game - Shit, should've sold him
Repeat

Blame lays with the team selection and Heckys tatics. You go away from home against a side who have the best defensive home record. You make changes right down the spine of the team and leave two players that have had a creative impact in the previous games against Millwall on the bench. Spending time to play it short from the keeper just to lump it forward or expect a young lad and someone coming back from injury to win an aerial battle against the best header of a ball in the division. I bet the entire Millwall team were rubbing their hands together and laughing walking out in that first half.

Now, anybody that says “well the fixture schedule is tight”… welcome to the EFL we know what to expect, everyone’s is. And if you think our squad doesn’t run as deep as Millwall’s you need your head shaking more than the officials today.

Despite all that, I don’t believe you if you didn’t think these last couple of performances have been coming, our obsession with long balls down the line and over top is predictable and boring. What’s even more pointless are 5 or 6 passes that take place across the back three before one of em has to lump it because we’ve steadily been pressed into a blind alley. The football is becoming less and less like what we’ve known and more like heckys hybrid and it’s not been working convincingly for about 2 and a half months.

There was a point in the second half, he had the ball at the corner of their box. I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen a player look as slow and tired, ever. He actually stopped and stood with the ball for a good 3-5 seconds, I think for a rest. I thought he was going to collapse.

Berge for me is like Brexit. People who are/were for it/him can't admit that what they're seeing before their eyes is a shit show. They're entrenched in a view that they're unwilling to change and despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, refuse to change. Instead they offer up pithy comebacks like 'Norwood was shite too" as if that's an answer...

FFS, he's strolling through games and we're now well and truly in a dog fight. Is he the kind of person/player you want Next to you in the trenches? He's more like George out of Blackadder goes Forth...

Decades of entrenched in shite, grasping to the blades way like some fervent religious fanatic have led to our fan base, or certain sections of it, being what they are

Embrace your one or two seasons every once a while in top flight lads and lasses

We have a team full of them. Robinson, Baldock, Fleck (past his best I know), Ndiaye and RND are the exceptions to the rule. Egan and Basham for centre backs are lightweight. As are Lowe, Osborn, Bogle for fullbacks. Stevens is a bit better in this respect. Our midfield has zero players that relish the physical side of the game.
Mcburnie can mix it a bit but isn't a traditional 9. We have many that excell only in the in possession aspect of football in one team imo. We lack physicality.

The weird thing in this game is we turned it around. Berge grew in influence as he was given the ball in space. Then the manager voluntarily - by changing the shape - turns the game into a battle and basketball game which we obviously struggle with.

Jebbo also caused them problems with his size and speed and he gets subbed off just after getting Webster booked. A nonsensical decision if he wasn't injured.

The best we've looked without the ball was when our high press was on point early this season. Teams get through that and it's our defence vs their forwards.

Spot on ! Berge is simply spineless but a manager that picks that team and then simply can’t see what everybody else can is a massive worry. Hecky will blow this with his selections !

I think most of us would have preferred to sell him and bring in OBrien, how the Prince didn't see that is beyond me.
Well,we are under the small matter of an embargo because the fucking imbecile of a Prince hasn’t been paying the bills, you know, the ones we have to pay every week to keep a house and life running.

He was miles off being our worse player today
He was far from the worst. I’m a fan of Berge but why does he not pull the trigger when on the edge of the box more often ? He creates his own space and I’m screaming for him to shoot but it seems he wants to advantage a bit further and set someone else up. Very frustrating !

Not a fucking hint of a 20m player

Just shows how unknowledegable most of our fanbase is.

It was only 4 weeks ago.
Berge was a Rolls Royce and many were predicting he'd be sold because the club lack ambition.
The fanbase said we must keep N'Diaye and Berge if want auto promotion...sell either of them and it's goodbye the Premier league.
There's a pattern...when ever we show ambition it always backfires.

Selling Berge would have got us out of the embargo

No it wouldn’t,paperwork takes a long time with the EFL,don’t believe what you read in the papers or from some on here. We were supposed to have settled this a few weeks ago-don’t hold your breath.

If it’s the same but I’m thinking if he then gave the laziest short pass to Norwood I’ve ever seen who promptly lost it to.

Cue the overreactions. We were well up for it in the second half and looked a class above them. Sloppy defending cost us together with a ref who gave them plenty and us nothing. I thought the idea was that referees stopped being so picky. This bloke obviously didn’t get the memo. Poor defending against a fairly bang average team who will get thumped by Burnley in midweek, it just wasn’t our day.
No I disagree, I've been thinking it for weeks we are just awful!

Sorry got carried away with the panic party.

Same as I see it. If anything 2nd half in some ways was a positive. We stepped up a gear something we need to do alot more now.
But we seemed to forget basic principles of defending.
