I'm going to say 3 out, and 2 in with a fairly pessimistic slant.

To leave :-
  • Quinn
  • Maguire (last minute)
  • Monty
To arrive :-
  • 1 winger
  • 1 central defender

Some one to leave last minute (Maguire?) nobody to arrive.

We all know its the Blades way, that deadline day feeling of being shafted yet again!

One of Quinn or Maguire to go.

One of Doyle or Collins to go.

A loan centre half to come in.

Monty to stay.

An attempt to sign someone else thwarted at the last minute.

A mutinous crowd tomorrow if we don't win.

1 out (Quinn or Maguire)

0 in (loan to replace above in a couple of weeks)

10 page thread of complaints if either of the above DO leave.
25 page thread of hysterical joy if Highbury ends up bareing his arse.
Several overrated wankers transferred between desperate top flight teams at excessive salaries to make the whole thing seem exciting to the slavering fools in the media.
A few bottles of Cobra and a Madras (nice side of Bombay Aloo) whilst I finish Keith Richards rather tedious biography later on.

I actually think we'll sign another striker today on loan from a Championship club. I think Monty and Quinn will go, not sure about Maguire. Collins will go, I doubt Doyle will go too.

Quinn sold to Barnsley for an undisclosed fee. A "source" at United hints at £1M, Barnsley reveal it's £100k possibly rising to £200k based on appearances.

Maguire sold to Peterborough for an undisclosed fee. McCabe says "Hey, we just can't compete with clubs of that stature. When a Championship club came in for the boy we couldn't stand in his way. On a brighter note, Jess's sister will be signing autographs in the foyer of my hotel. Why not book a room for the night and a seat in the JES?"

Monty agrees a new three year deal on reduced terms. People who slagged him for not helping the club out financially, slag him off for agreeing to.

A very late bid to sign a couple of Motherwell reserves on loan fails as a power cut hits Bramall Lane. A shadowy figure in a suit is spotted scuttling away from the main circuit board

I'm hoping that:

McCabe comes out this morning and states that he's sold the club, bu retains all rights to the club, the new owner paying him 50 million a year because the club will now be named McCabe FC.

Quinn, Harry and KMac all sold, but rather than take a fee, we pay to shift them on. They all end up at Wednesday.

Micalijo and metalblade spontaneously combust at this news, the whole Internet slows down as a result of mic posting 1000 prewritten posts every 30 seconds, telephone exchanges go into meltdown...

McCabe shows his funny side later in the day stating an "august fun day" a unique day in Sheffield also in honour of Jess Ennis, apparently she discussed this with him at the civic reception as she too was fed up with snipes at McCabe.

Monty agrees a new three year deal on reduced terms.

Please don't give anyone ideas like that.

Monty will leave on loan. Quinn will still be a Sheffield United player come midnight after several rumours and a rejected bid. Nothing will happen with Harry.

Rumours that Monty will indeed join Leeds on loan with a 250k option for him to stay. We've given ourselves until the end of the season to raise the 250k required.

(Only kiddin Monts, love ya really mate... but really hoping someone will take you off our books too!)

Several posters on BM will say they've heard something, leave unfathomable cryptic clues, but won't confirm or deny anything concrete to 'protect their sources'.

Cue pages of bickering and sniping.

Player x leaves, player y signs.

Original posters confirm confirmed signings, point out that they knew all along but explain that they couldn't name names.

A new prediction.

Unless at least 2 big earners leave (Quinny and Monty basically), then we'll sign no one.

At the press conf...

"Hey, we got the best deal we could for Harry, but you know what it's like when agents start bending ears....any queestions?"

"Kevin, my daughter will be starting Uni in Sheffield in a couple of years and I'm worried about the standard of accomodation, there seems very little value on the market"

"Good questions Seth, but your worries are over......."

On topic - I think there's a good chance we'll end up as you were.

Awwwww, I'll buy you Dave :(

The surprising thing about this thread is the number of predictions for Monty being sold. How many transfer windows have been and gone where we have been "on the verge" of selling Monty, only to find him still at the club by the end of it?

I will be very very surprised if he is playing for anyone else this time tomorrow. Who will pay him the kind of money that United are supposedly paying him?

I hold dear in my heart the belief that Monty wants to play football on a regular basis and therefore will take a pay cut to leave the club...

Truer words never spoken. I loathe the transfer window and it is now part and pacel of the further ruination of the game to cash.

I think there is a chance he will be loaned out then someone may just pay half his wages.
