I cant bloody wait for the season to start, Ill echo Bergs statements about Hlll and Williams but we all knew we had to cut the wage bill and wouldn't be signing world beaters. Think we're going to do really well this year

Other than that I couldn't stand the Olympics and was quite indifferent about the Euros, seems to be that people who liked that dross are quite apathetic about the new season.

I didn't bother to watch much of the Olympics, saw our Jess win gold and beach volleyball can be interesting otherwise fairly boring. Didn't watch much of the Euro's either England supporting is much like being a Blade you always think they might do something but they always let you down.
I don't get excited or expect much from a new season anymore if we do happen to do well then that's a bonus. The squad we have at present is one of the most uninspiring for a long time, bags of potential which is good to see the problem is some live up to it and some never get close. It might be a bit too much to ask that all the signings and all the young players fulfil their potential.

Ted, if you think the likes of MoFarah, Jessica Ennis, Usain Bolt, Chris Hoy, Brad Wiggins as dross then you deserve all you get being a Blades fanatic!
The Olympics were full of winners - something the Blades don't even know the meaning of!!
By the way cutting the wage bill to get rid of passengers like Monty and Cresswell doesn't mean we have to sign no marks and failures to replace them!
Confident about the season - no way!
Mr Wilson has nailed his colours to the mast by signing Williams, Hill, Porter et al - we are in for a long hard winter!

This. I cant grasp why some supporters cant grasp this. Even if you're of the opinion that McCabe should be funding it, he still is and doesn't want to.

We therefore have to look for cheaper players who are assumed not be as good until they prove otherwise. Having said that.....given the dross we witnessed in the season we came down, I find it difficult to believe we could possibly now have a worse calibre of player!

In a way, I wanted it to piss down Saturday so cricket got cancelled and I could come up and watch, but no, we have a heatwave heading our way for the weekend and 30 degree heat coming with it, strange feeling, disappointed yet delighted!

I fully understand the theory Ted - my gripe is that we knew Williams and Hill were poor yet we still sign them!!
Why not get a decent left back for what we pay those two!
Why re-sign Porter on a two year contract? - He is just not good enough - its signings like these that pee me off - they do not add to the side and are a liability - better to save wages and give the kids a go - they can't be any worse!!

No thats part of the trouble the players we have try to run through a brick wall because they haven't got the skill to go round it!

Must admit I was a little disappointed when Porter signed. I think Hill can do a job defensively its just his distribution is woefull. The thing is we know what their strengths and weaknesses are yet if we relied on Kids we dont fully know and it could be very bad for the progression if we had to rely on them and they werent doing very well. Williams does puzzle me too but we are on a complete showstring and if we were going to keep McD then we really had no money to play with. Hopefully Lescy will be fit sooner rather than later. Speaking of which that tackle he made that got him injured was absolutly amazing, you cant say he didnt put his all into that? and how about Jon Stead diving head first into the post to score. You do get players busting a gut for the Blades its just it maybe about as often as those pescy Olympics

Unfortunately full of drugs cheats too. We simply don't know how many medals were won by pills, potions and injections but many were, that's for sure.

It rather takes away the magic when Olympic glory depends on who has the best pharmacist, doesn't it?

Danny Wilson will ultimately deliver an attractive, successful team but we need to give him time and patience. We are very weak in attacking wide areas. I'm quite sure he knows this but needs to address it. Perhaps we need to move a couple on (please, please, let it be so) before he can do anything about it.

We should all stop and think just how low this club has fallen. Danny has to raise the titanic. Don't expect miracles (well, not today at least).

Sorry, but that's the sad truth of the modern Olympics. I lost faith after Ben Johnson and the magic has gone for me. I can't take the cheers back retrospectively, can I?

If you believe every medal was 'clean' then you need to wise up. The only difference these days is the methods of masking drugs and the timing is more subtle. I would tend to believe our local heroes have won them all cleanly, but wouldn't be shocked if the opposite was ever proved.
The Press sisters was the shock that woke me up to it....

Then you are sure but incorrect. I have better things to do and nearly 2000 posts to my name - attention seeking on a grand scale! I say what I genuinely think and Yes, it does on occasion produce reaction. I'd be a poor communicator if it didn't!

That's not to mention the cyclists, swimmers et al.

I hardly missed a minute of the Moscow and Los Angeles Olympics. I stayed up long into the night to watch the magnificent contests between Coe, Ovett and latterly Cram and many other superb athletes. Times have changed or maybe I'm a little sadder but wiser (probably both). Either way, I can't allow myself to get excited about athletes who just might be more worthy of contempt than praise. It's tough on the genuine heroes and that's the real damage of cheating in any sport - it tarnishes all participants, because once it's established deep within a sport you 'never know' and the cheat is always one step ahead of the detection process.

I genuinely hate to say it but It's corrupt to the core mate and I really wish it wasn't.
