Outgoing? SANDER BERGE ON WAY OUT ?

It would appear so yeah.

I think we might be surprised at the affairs in the club under princes tenure.

That said doesn't mean a new owner will be better or worse.
I’ve had my suspicions. The way we’ve dealt with the SAG problems and the way we’ve allowed contracts to run down has been niggling in my mind for some time, as has the concurrent shitshows at Beerschott and Chateroux. I’ve worked for poorly run companies and organisations and I know how that manifests itself. I speculated early in the season that perhaps we weren’t renewing contracts because we didn’t have the money to, we couldn’t afford the signing on fees or wage increases, but I almost ruled it out myself as it sounded unthinkable. That said, if the takeover happens and we get promoted, to an extent, we’ve got away with it, the final gamble by a gambler on a winning streak.
I hope the new owners adopt an approach similar to Newcastle, keep what’s good and fix what isn’t by getting the right people in to do the job, rather than the Chelsea approach of taking a reasonably successful formula, ripping it up and starting again because the owner’s ego is so big he thinks he’s an expert before he’s even started the job. I know which is more likely though and that’s a fundamental problem with professional football, rich fuckers get to mess with your emotions.

Why would O’Brien be good enough for us when he can’t get off Forest’s bench? Think we need better for next year. Would take him on loan but not a permanent.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Sander was up for a move to Fulham tbh. Premier league football, closer to his mate at Arsenal & in an affluent area of London.

If the moneys right, we’d be daft not to sell. I genuinely like the kid & believe he will be a big loss to us but we’re in a shit spot at the minute.

He suits the way we play in my opinion.

His value will only fall as he enters final year of contract

As much as I like him he doesn’t influence whole games like Ndaiye can, he has a strong 20 mins where no one can get near him, but not 90

We obvs need money, so £20m, pay off the embargo and get in a replacement on loan, then sort it out proper in the summer with new owners hopefully

There must be a few prem midfielders that we can consider, always liked Albrighton but he seems to be getting time, longstaff Richie and Fraser at toon aren’t getting on the pitch much, must be others

I've been watching the size of the permanent squad for the last few windows and increasingly worrying. Anel bucked the trend a bit but we currently have zero midfield players at the start of next season. Zero. There's not been any great future planning which suggests major problems. Especially when you look at the other United World clubs.

I’ve said some lovely things about our owner - I’m now perplexed at what he’s seemingly letting happen .

I’ve run businesses before and I’m confused at the intended purpose and outcome of what’s going on

If it's true and if it happens-

He's got genuine quality and class, and when he's on form and gliding past players he looks great and far too good for the Championship. But even on top form, he lacks the aggression to properly impose himself as he should; and off form he can look bloody awful.

He's got great potential but he's inconsistent and I'm not sure he believes how good he could be. If it's true, £20m is the best we could ever imagine getting for him. And if we lost Ndiaye we could worry about going up... without Sander we have McAtee, Doyle and Coulibaly.

I didn't want to lose anybody but I reckon we've got to be happy with that in the current situation- and if we did somehow squeeze Cairney out of them too we're bloody laughing.

Frustrates the life out of me does Berge. Could easily rip apart this league and be the best player by a mile but just looks lazy and never fit in my eyes - as though he’s always in pre season mode. I do think this would be a really good move for Us, Fulham and him. Think he’d play so much better at Fulham than with us weirdly and 20m is a brilliant fee for a player that’s been injured for a lot of his time here regardless of our financial worries.

Your post sort is sums up why the debate rumbles on. When we were in the prem, our stats were terrible with Berge in the team, for a long period. They are better in the championship this season, partly because he was great at the start of the season, before he and a number if others got injured. He’s never unplayable throughout a match, but he does have bursts of being unplayable.

He’s constantly ranked by his price tag because people come up with falsehoods like him being unplayable.

When on his game, he’s a top championship footballer. He’s got some really good points, and some really obvious weak points. He’s far from a top premiership / European footballer, and far from being wank.
Get limbering up. The town hall steps are calling.

Nothing concrete yet so don’t want to get mi knickers in a twist, but there was an article in todays Sun regarding todays match and Heckys comments had me thinking somat might be going on with regards players leaving. He just came across a bit negative regarding the situation and not knowing what’s going on and whether he’ll still have the players after deadline day?

There’s been no comment from the board regards keeping the players we have to ensure we have the best chance of promotion, Nothing, nada, zilch.

If Berge and or anyone else does leave this will just smack of the Deane/Fjortoft debacle on the last day of the window

I hope it’s all BS because we need every player

£20m for a player who, if everyone is completely honest with themselves, has flattered to deceive in the 3½ years he's been here is a good result.

I think he's done well to be even playing for us recently, McAtee has looked a lot more influential in recent matches than Sander and Doyle is better in the deeper role imo.

I think half his value is based on his beauty

It won’t

Berge is not an integral part of this team

As long as Hecky gets a suitable replacement I can live with it.

I accept Berge’s not been a World beater, but he has the ability to open a defence, assist and occasionally score. I don’t get why losing a first team player leaving at this crucial time is a good thing?

The question for me is, will hecky be given some money and of course does he have enough time to get someone in?

Hopefully I wouldn't read too much into that, Heckingbottom always sounds down on Pre match interviews, I hope he never volunteers for the Samaritans.
A better indication might be if we win today and he's still on a downer when interviewed.

I wonder how much money we could make out of a fa cup run providing that we win against Wrexham, a lovely tie at Spurs or Man Utd in the hope that the income could help us out financially in the short term.

If he plays every week when fit then he is an integral part of the team imo

It’s more than that tho for me. It’s about numbers. Injuries have already played a part in our season when we had a full team out and results reflected that. Losing another player whether injured or sold is a blow regardless

I hope I’m wrong but it certainly wouldn’t surprise me if Hecky doesn’t find a replacement

Don’t get me wrong, I was glad to see the back of McCabe and I wanted PA to be successful, this is very disappointing. I don’t enjoy criticising the club. It’s not easy running a club, particularly in the championship, but he seems to have relied too heavily on people with no real knowledge of how to run football clubs outside of Saudi, which is like appointing the DoF of Hanwell Town to run Celtic. Or appointing Dave Hockaday to manage Leeds.

20m for berge the way hes been playing would be a great deal for us imo and if it helps the club keep its head above water so be it we will still get promoted

Just been announced on Talksport radio. Adrian Durham has just said:

"We understand that Fulham are seriously interested in buying Sander Berge from Sheffield United.
He was bought for £22 million but Sheff Utd value him at £30 million.

Would normally think he wouldn't be sold as Sheff Utd are in a great position for promotion.
However as they are currently under an embargo, then FFP rules might mean they are forced to cash in on Berge or N'Diaye this January window"

We've consistently said that Berge is a quality player and could do a great job for someone in the PL.
However he sometimes disappears in our matches (especially away from home) as though he's either not fully fit or not up for a fight.
So selling Berge wouldn't be the disaster it's might seem, especially if we can bring in a replacement.
Where as selling N'Diaye would be a totally different matter.

Could the Newcastle interest be merely to drive the price up as a helping hand from our “friends”?
