If we have to sell someone I’d rather it be berge
If we have to sell someone I’d rather it be berge
Agree totally. I’d like us to keep both, even though Sander is not playing well at this point in time, but if we’re in such a financial mess as rumours make out, then it’s important for the club to get some cash in pretty soon to keep the club afloat and to avoid at all costs going into admin and points deduction. If it means selling Sander at rock bottom price to pay off some debt circa £10m and be able to keep Ndiaye then so be it. Needs must I’m afraid. We can still gain promotion comfortably without Sander, but not so sure we could without Ndiaye. This much needed income would bridge the gap between now and any new owners if they both agreed to it, whoever they may be.

If we were that hard up, you'd think we would have sold players in summer or earlier in this transfer window. Considering the timing of the takeover news and then the embargo news, I'm not at all worried. I could quite easily be wrong but it would have been easy to make sure this situation didn't happen, it seems almost intentional.

That is the way I view things and hopefully we are correct, although it does not seemingly suit some peoples agendas

Some amazing stuff on here today..... possible admin... that's a long way from being unable to register new players. I'm guessing we have a bit of a cash flow problem but that's probably all it is. Hopefully we just need a short term loan setting up to tide us through until May (not September as one mischievous poster wrote). Selling any first-teamers would be unforgivable in our position.

With respect you don't have a clue what our situation is. I'll leave it at that.
With respect,it is public knowledge that we aren't paying some bills ( or a single bill) relating to football matters hence the embargo. I'll leave it at that.

I just can’t see us selling him, even if the new owner thinks 22 million is a great piece of business for him, when we go up, and we will with or without illiman, the new owner will be looking for a matchwinnner in the mould of illiman and have to pay 30 million and over for a player like that. Makes no sense at all so he will be going nowhere imo.

Some proper bed wetting going on here.

Not only has the Prince made sound footballing decisions to allow us to ‘have a go’, but getting us so close that auto-pilot ought to bring us home, I simply can’t see him pulling the pin with 18 matches to go.

I reckon in the end we’ll have no Khadra replacement, Jebbo will kick on and we won’t miss him. Meanwhile we’ll sell nobody, unless we get some mutually beneficial offer for someone like Fleck from Rangers and that will be that.

I think you hugely understimate the contribution Iliman makes.
Scores goals.
Creates / assists goals.
Terrorises opposition.
Works tirelessly to win back possession.
Huge boost to team mates.

Have your OTT.
I'll stick with No Iliman No promotion.

He really is that important.
Not when we are so far ahead.
I agree he is important, but the rest of the group are not incompetent and Macatee is capable of creating chances.
It would make it more difficult, but the chasing pack of 10 are covered by just 3/4 points so will keep taking points off each other.
I am far from complacent but I think the rest of the squad are capable of bringing the ship home, to think otherwise is unfair to them.
When MGW left all was doom and gloom, but look where we are now and that is not just down to Ndaiye

Just because there are problems doesn’t mean we are in such a financial mess that Administration and points deduction is close to happening.

Ok, please forgive me. I haven't had the energy to read through all 10 pages of this thread.

I only read about Everton's interest in Iliman in today's current bun. All I can say is, why the fuck would he go to a club with such a probability of relegation when he's already with one with a high possibility of promotion, with a club he loves, team mates he loves and with fans who think the sun shines out of his backside?

£30k pw?

We don’t have a history of failed payments. There is only one and that may be disputed.
I’m not sure what you mean.

We now have a history of missed payments, Kieran Maguire explains in the star what leads us to an embargo and it’s a club requesting payment from us & if they get no response they go to the EFL who also request that payment. If they still get no response your embargoed.

Therefore we now have a history of missed payments, hopefully like you’ve said it’s a one off…but our credibility under the current ownership will have been damaged when dealing with clubs

Fair point, once bitten n all that

If it was me I wouldn’t trust someone owing me money when they have struggled to make payment to others on time.

Two teams within United World have now been embargoed. It’s damaging

Exactly that, sensible business practice

If he goes anywhere in this window it will be Newcastle.
Well that you could understand, a club on the up. I would really hope that he would want to stay with us to reach the Prem though, first and foremost

I hope you’re right. When this news broke I was quite chilled about it, but after reading some of the threads I’ve become quite paranoid and it’s now become a constant worry. I’ve been a blade too long and it’s turned me into a bloody pessimist. Hopefully the next few days may change my opinion.

Do you really think he's going to sign a new contract with us if we go up? A club very likely to come back down? With 12 months left. He can basically just refuse to sign and we wither have to sell on the cheap (which means more clubs would be in for him) or lose him for nothing.

I have no idea what's going through his head, but it was made pretty clear before that his agent is looking for something better.

I really hope we aren't losing him right now. If we are then the price needs to be higher than his value. For me it's folly to lose him cheaper because we need to plug some hole in finances.

However we don't know the status of our finances is.

If we need to cash in because we are so short then this is certainly a cock up from our board. I've always had the impression we have not overstretched since relegation. And I've respected that. If that is true!

We have to acknowledge interest in iliman was inevitable but we will just have to see how it all pans out ...

He would sign a new deal if he is staying next season. He will want extra wages and deserve it.
If he doesn't sign in the summer whichever league in he's goin in summer.

But there would be a relegation fee clause I'm sure if.

Forgive me if I’ve missed something but nothing I’ve read in the press today suggests a) the club want to sell him b) the club needs to sell him or c) he wants to go.
Everton may indeed want him and by god they need him but that’s very different to him being at risk of going.
Based on what we know and have heard from the club it’s paper talk and nothing else at this point in time.
We’ll see next week if the embargo is a short-term issue as the club and others have suggested, hopefully by this time next week it will all be resolved.

There is only one in question and recently actioned. Not a history in my mind.
I may be short of the facts and am ready to be corrected when the EFL give full details.
