The only reason the pigs put their name in the hat for any potential euros/world Cup bid in this country is so any improvements are paid for by another party.

All eyes on SAG for this. They closed our kop (well, stopped allowing sale of tickets) for overcrowding on gangways. So it would be sensible to close the bottom tier for the same reason. As for the comments regards knocking it down "where would the away fans go?" - side stand. I could name a few stadiums that do it. Not to mention every single bowl stadium. All about proper segregation.
 
Pretty ovious SAG are piggies. What better way to piss us off than try to close our cop, cost us gate money and destroy the atmousphere.

However I would expect something to be done about leppings lane end. This hasn't been a one I believe either.

Back to us I wonder how many more matches they will need to give us an update on the situation? Is it currently working already or not?

The SAG didn't close the stand, the club stopped selling match day tickets to allow them to investigate how to resolve the problem. The SAG haven't taken any action against us, only provided advisory information.
 
had a look on porktalk yesterday and the majority of wednesday fans stating that the leppings lane stand should have been pulled down years ago some even saying the north stand needs urgent work on it

A "backwards shithole" think that is harsh in the extreme. It's got the highest or one of the highest student retention rates so there must be something that people like about the place! I would say Sheffield is a vibrant city and a fantastic place to live, and it's come on leaps and bounds in the last twenty years or so and took a massive hit in the 1980's which the likes of Leeds and Manchester didn't because they weren't reliant on industry like Sheffield does and the loss of coal and steel obviously was a huge blow to the city, with little to no interest in a backup plan. If you're looking at idiots then look at this present government and it's total mismanagement of the country and continual bias towards the south-east and trickle down economics, not to mention its utter incompetence on various well known levels.

We should be shouting from the rooftops how great Sheffield is in my view.

I agree Sheffield won't be selected as a world cup venue, but I would say that's mainly because location wise we're close to Manchester and Leeds and they're always going to prefer Leeds and Manchester as they're bigger cities with bigger grounds.

Yes, including things that aren't Manchester.

Manchester's biggest success has been the formation of "Greater Manchester"
It was just accepted by all the towns and cities that together they'd be stronger.

West Yorkshire is "Greater Leeds" even if it has not been made official yet, but it will become "Greater Leeds" soon. And it will be accepted by all the other towns and cities because it will make the whole region even stronger

It could have happened here by merging, Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield and Worksop, and have Sheffield at it's epicentre but of course it would be objected to, by those that aren't in Sheffield.

Most Barnsley people would rather become a part of a Greater Leeds than a Greater Sheffield, such is their hatred for Sheffield

Most Chesterfield and Worksop people would rather be a part of Greater Nottingham than Greater Sheffield, such is their hatred for Sheffield.

And most people in the Peak District towns would rather become a part of Greater Manchester too.

And all this in spite of having a "S" Postcode.

Leeds and Manchester had heavy industry as well.
They also made their names on textiles which is equally as dead as the coal and steel industries.

But Leeds and Manchester didn't rely totally on those industries and planned for the future without them.

Sheffield did, and then stood about with its begging bowl out when the heavy industries closed down.

Student retention is something I also don't use as a banner for success. Having lived within half a mile of Sheffield University for 90% of my life I see our retained students daily.

Let's just say they weren't the most succesful students

He's like a stuck record with it. He hates Sheffield, and its' inhabitants and makes the point in literally every other post he makes. I can only presume (for his sake) that he doesn't live there, because that would be really sad for him.
 
Show how skint wendy must be because they can,t afford to pay for more security/stewards. Sheffield shity council will do nothing because they are wendyites.

"Sheffield" isn't a living entity. It doesn't have a brain - the industry within it is just a product of what's gone before. It was more susceptible to a downturn in heavy industry than most if not all others. Whilst that was definitely a weakness, I don't see how you pin that on the city as though it's a living thing?

As poor as the council have been / are, I'm not sure how they were responsible for this, if that's what you're suggesting.

And what's the begging bowl that "Sheffield" stood about with?
 
Sheffield council has always had a backward view on everything. It was like when developers wanted to build an international airport just off the Parkway and to stop it Blunkett build council houses on the site and that was purely, purely political....................................dont want these Sheffielders who always vote Labour getting above themselves eh Blunkett!

As far as I can tell, nothing is happening up there. No increased security presence. No extra ticket checks. No extra signage. We're just leaving 2,000 empty seats on there for a laugh, it seems

No that's not correct, SCC and the SAG advised the club that the current situation may impact on future safety certificate approval, so the club took preemptive steps to resolve the situation by restricting tickets themselves.
 
The club is losing money. so you would have thought they would do summat so tickets can be sold again.
