Norwich are just embarrassing

I was the one who asked for someone to have a word at half time because they were really winding people up and I could see someone trying to kick off with them.

I've been a directors' box guest at away grounds and while you're fine to be clearly supporting the away side, standing up and chanting "how shit must you be" and calling opposition players "dirty cunts" while surrounded by that team's fans just isn't on. You're supposed to be representing your company or team, not being a nob and expected to be cosseted because you're sat there.

They were happy to give it out, not so pleased when they conceded and got some back. I merely, and quite politely I must say, pointed out her hypocrisy to Mrs Woman. Didn't even swear.
They are always at it. Loud and rude, antoganising fans, acting like they own the place. Think they can say and do whatever that want. And every single time it kicks off. They are the only club we regularly have trouble with in the directors box. Thoroughly enjoyed rubbing that equaliser in their face

And they're looking down at all the other little chickens and they think they're in an aeroplane because all the other chickens are so small.
I’m sure you and I have had our differences on matters political.. but your responses to this half wit have been bob on. Shame he’s been banned, no more chicken updates.

I've sat in front of the director's box for 20 years. The only fans we ever have trouble with behind us are Norwich. They were at it today, gobbing off before the game had even started, thinking they were summat because they were sat on a (marginally) padded seat.

Thankfully managed to get a message passed on so a steward was sent to keep an eye on them - they were trying to antagonise all through the first half.

Had to laugh when the penalty got saved. A few people turned round to give some back and a middle-aged woman whose red-faced husband had been trying to provoke something all match gave a shrill "excuse me! Language! There are children present!"

I pointed out that a) no one said anything that their group hadn't said first and b) it was a football match.

Fully expecting we'll all get a letter reminding us about our conduct again 🙄 who were we playing the last time we got a letter?

Oh yeah, Norwich.
I have a story about language. Bit of a bust up behind me on the Kop. A dad defending his 7 (yes seven) year old son from someone complaining about him shouting effin c and effin b here and there. Dad thought it was fine. Thought I’d seen and heard it all but no. That was a new one.

Quite frankly I'm pleased to see that Dean Smith has got the elbow. After he didn't come out and apologise for his players acting the twat and trying to cheat by acting and falling over for nothing at Bramall Lane, he went down in my estimation (which wasn't particularly high to begin with). A man with integrity would have been embarrassed by his players actions that day and come out and said that there will be no repeat. Instead he defended their actions. Basically defended them trying to cheat. So he can go fuck off for me

Also it was Dean Smith who was in charge of Villa when our goal was incorrectly disallowed. He could have instructed his players to let us score as Arsene Wenger did so I'm delighted he's had his comeuppance.

Arsene Wenger didn't. If he'd have not played dumb and done what Bielsa did then it would have been a fair outcome.

Unless there is another instance to which you are referring.

Wenger insisted on the rematch, the referee had made it clear that he would send everyone off if Arsenal had allowed us to score (David Seaman among others had requested we be allowed to equalise).

Obviously I'm wrong! Wenger did the right thing though

To be honest some of what I wrote was what Seaman himself said after the fact si it might be a bit of self-serving memory, I'm fairly certain Wenger wanted the rematch though.

My recollection is that Wenger offered the rematch publicly but it was actually David Dein who was behind the decision.

Never heard that about the ref before, what would his reason have been, according to the laws of the game? Apart from anything else, by the time he got to six left, the game couldn’t continue (cf Battle of Bramall Lane), what would have happened then?

Very irritatingly, I can find a tantalising bit of this but not the whole thing.

If I Google "Sheffield United Kanu David Seaman" I get a link to an Google Books page with the following line quoted "Arsenal keeper David Seaman offered to let United score directly from the..."

However, when I click on the link, the page in question (the one for 13th February) doesn't load properly although most of the other pages do.

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=jqnq0hIia0cC&pg=PA46&lpg=PA46&dq=David+Seaman+Sheffield+United+Kanu&source=bl&ots=yy6mBQdJEo&sig=ACfU3U19OPswZYoKV-oI6SiJr4Jg6-0RHA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjDy4TNhpv8AhUTnVwKHQwsBK4Q6AF6BAgjEAM#v=onepage&q=David Seaman Sheffield United Kanu&f=false

The snippet provided certainly backs up what I remember reading a while back, which is that Seaman wanted to allow us to score one back straight away but it wasn't allowed for whatever reason.

Edit: Oh hang on, that posted link fixed it.

"Arsenal keeper David Seaman offered to let United score directly from the Kick off, but the referee threatened to send the entire home team off if that happened".

does it want loading up?

does it want loading up?

I wonder if it wasn't working because I was searching incognito, I posted the link in here, clicked on it to make sure it directed to the right place and bingo, the correct page of the book loaded!

I'm not sure what was happening, I'd clicked on the link loads, left it a couple of minutes, hit refresh and it just wouldn't load for me, but I've got it now.

Did the world with minimal assistance from a Sheffield phone and an unbelievable amount of mis-treatment along the path.

Always best to turn incognito off after a fapping session.

Not sure that the referee could have done that. What rule was in place to allow him to book any player for allowing the opposition to score a goal? Ungentlemanly conduct ? If so that would be a booking at most and not a sending off offence but I couldn't see a scenario where that plays out. Being honest if the Arsenal lads really wanted to they could have said ok lads clearly foul a SUFC player in the box first opportunity after kick off and we can have the keeper go the wrong way to allow the goal (we'd have probably blazed it over though anyway!).

Can't help but think this is a load of bollox put out by the Arsenal players after they had thought on about it and come to the conclusion they didn't collectively do the right thing on the pitch morally. Bit of re-writing history about what actually happened. At the end of the day it's just a footnote if football history now, happened a long time ago, and matters not.

Precisely you could allow the opposition to score a goal in a whole host of ways and the ref couldn’t say shit.

The 1st leg should have been a draw, so the replay would have been at Bramall Lane, where we would have been favourites,
as we always had a great record at home to Arsenal. However Wenger was quite sneaky and offered a rematch but it was to be played at Highbury again, where they would be hot favourites as we have a terrible record away at Arsenal.
