Coventry are probably one of our biggest auto promotion rivals. This is based on the following,

1) They are third in the form table over the last 10 games
2) They played well in the home game win and looked a useful side (although a draw may have been a fairer result on us)
3) They are only six points behind Blackburn with a game in hand (and they are a much better side)

We could do with extending the gap!

We just need to focus on us.

If we only slightly improve on our 1st 23 results we will get to that magic 90pts.

This year though good chance less than that will be enough. We are on track for 88pts.

To better 88pts Coventry would need to pick up 56 PTS in 24 games. That's 2.33 PTS per game.

They are.........best way to deal with promotion rivals is to beat them and beat them good, like we did with Burnley.

But then i will accept a 1-0 with a last minute penalty scored by Billy.

Its interesting how Coventry can afford to keep such a good squad together, despite not playing any homes games for weeks on end, average 17k crowds, not owning their own ground etc etc.
They have obviously been cheating HMRC, given their recent transfer embargo. Presumably local businesses are also owed millions like it was clear Wasps did when they collapsed.
It's weird how they are under no pressure to sell Gyokeres or Hamer or other saleable assets to try and pay their debts.
Definitely not bent cheats financially then.
Frustrating that other teams in the league do live within their means and have less good squads.
Be nice to put them in their place on boxing day...

With the capability we know the squad has running through it I genuinely believe few teams have the ability in this league to come to The Lane and walk away with 3 points. I also genuinely believe we could steam roll over Coventry and most teams in this league but that needs every player and staff member performing 100%. The only thing that stands in the way of us humiliating the smug set of wankers on Monday is ourselves.

That may sound arrogant and I very rarely say things like that about United but the last few seasons have showed me just what this club could do if it could achieve the same sort of consistent form like some of the big league clubs.

this will be our toughest game since Burnley as this is a completely different team to last time. they were bottom of the league. neither side played well that night whereas. now they could go 5th with a win i heard & i believe 4th in form table

You're joking, right? They were absolutely awful. So were we. I don't make overall conclusions about a team based upon the two performances I usually see of them each year (against us), but I have to say they were shocking in that game

However, based upon form, I do think they've a good shot at making the playoffs if they maintain it somewhat

We were the better of two very poor teams that night
We always seem to play shit against these

Robins will leave (to a bigger/better club)
Coventry will then fall apart worse than Leeds do (takes some beating)

End of thread.

In order to go up in 2nd they are likely to need circa 86+ points which means 53 points for 24 games. So that would be 16 wins and 5 draws which an amazing run. But you are right that if we beat them on Monday, that task just gets a little bit harder for them

Robins is a good manager and seems to get it right with Coventry. Not sure they are automatic challengers though.

They were shit in their home game win awful tbh but we threw it away by also being poor

However though they played shit that night I always felt they would be up there

I think you have been on too many sherries, they where probably the worst side I have seen this season when we played them at theirs, the fact we were also crap and couldn't beat them just made the defeat feel 10 times worse.

The problem they might have and I think a few of their fans mentioned it on Roy's View from is they have a good starting 11 but the back up from the bench is poor.
So they would need to be extremely lucky with injuries to be serious contenders.

The tennis ball-chucking stadium moving twats are going to get a spawny win aren't they?

Whilst Coventry rarely blow people out of the water they have the most clean sheets in the division. Lots of 1-0 wins. Can’t imagine it’ll be a spectacular goals galore game, but if true to the stats even if we are losing we’ll always be in it with a chance.

MERRY CHRISTMAS BLADES!!

I think they’ll be in the top 6 , Robins has done a tremendous job with resources he has at hand & all the off field shit .
They’ve been a jinx team for us of recent & last year at theres tore us a new one .
We’ve gotta get at these from the off & treat this match like the Burnley game .
They’ve got a decent midfield & front 2 so I hope Doyle is back in midfield tomorrow .
I’ll go 1-0 Blades in a tight game ⚔️
