Like I said, cherry picking. Cannavaro and Beckenbauer I am guessing. Thought the Kaiser is hardly short at 5ft 11 and half inches. On one hand might be an exagernation, but name me 10 world class centre halves that have played the game. McGrath is 6ft by the way, so you cannot have him.

Nope, Daniel Passarella, memeber of two World Cup winning squads, captain of one. Stood a proud 5' 8".

So:
Fabio Cannavaro (5'9")
Daniel Passarella (5'8")
Franco Baresi (5'10 1/2")
Carles Puyol (5'10")
Roberto Ayala (5'9 1/2")
Ivan Cordoba (5'8")
Billy Wright (5'11")
Gaetano Scriea (5'10")
Matthias Sammer (5'11")
Joe Shaw (I don't know. Short)

Javier mascherano is another that is short for a CB (which is the position he now plays for barca)

I played centre half for years, many many years and was never the tallest. Playing that position is more about presence, physical strength and a bit of maturity. Easiest position on the park if you can play a bit so let's not get all hung up on the fact that our centre halves may not be giants. If you can read the game, not be afraid of the tough stuff and can do the basics then you're half way there.

For the young lads it's all about not getting bullied, and that was my earlier point about growing from boys to men. Oh and let's not forget, we had some big lads at the back last season yet we looked woeful defending set pieces so size didn't help much then.

Sorry Ollie, I like reading your posts but I think this time you're blowing out of your arse a bit.

Fair enough. I bow down to your superior knowledge (or spare time/research skills). There are a few dodgy picks in there, but they have all represented their country (at least).

There are some things coming out your list above though Guesty. A lot of those players played as a sweeper and were quick. Not only quick, but strong. Most importantluy they were pretty much all gifted with incredibly high levels of natural ability.

What point are you trying to prove though? That you can make it as a CB if you are short? I do not dispute that. However I feel you have a much better chance of being a quality centra half if you are taller.

we have an even younger kid in Diego DeGiralomo or however it is spelt, 16 years old.
been watched all season by Wilson scored a hat-trick in the 1st half for 16s against pigs took off at half time and put on 18s pitch and run rings round them apparantly.
Heard he may be looking at a place on the bench this season

He is a really good player. I was at the game where he played for both but we got hammered at the 18s game. He didn't run rings round them but he did look dangerous. I'm intrested to see how he goes in a full season with the 18s because he's said he'd rather play for the 16s than be on the bench higher up.
