He did blow it but we are playing decent football so I am indifferent whether he stays or not though.

He had dramatic changes thrust upon him but we were clearly not covered in defence when we had our defensive nightmare. Even after that nightmare we were (and still are) thread bare in centre backs if either of them get injured We were lucky in that Maguire or Collins never actually got injured at all this season.

Macca and Willo have always had injury issues and neither of them were accounted for in case of an ever eventual injury.

The only thing he did try to cover for was Evans getting sent down and it was just pure bad luck Hoskins got injured on that front. OH was a poor signing and I still cant work out whether the guy is a winger or a striker.

I have no issue with Wilson carrying on managing us and it's all irrelevant, as there's no way McCabe will be pushing Wilson out the door anyway

However, a couple of points, valid or not.

It wasn't pure bad luck regards Hoskins getting injured. He arrived injured. This has been my major gripe! I raised this point previously and someone pointed out that it had been quoted somewhere Hoskins was carrying a long term problem. That turned out under the circumstances to be a major error in bringing him in. The club obviously thought Ched wouldn't be found guilty. However, if you are going to bring a player in "just in case" then the least you should do is to make sure he's fit if called upon. Again, it's obvious to me in that he represented us so few times during his loan that he was already carrying his double hernia. Had we have managed to bring in a fit striker on loan, who knows, perhaps promotion may have been ours.

Was blame to lie with Wilson, or the board for not getting adequate cover in? Who knows?

Secondly, some of the statisticians knocking around claim that Wilson has a decent record in his first season at a club and a poor record in his second season. He had one hand tied behind his back in the transfer market this season, (although he inherited a decent squad for league one level, even if short on numbers) so how will he cope next season with perhaps both hands tied?

For me one thing is certain and that is it's going to be a lot tougher to be competitive next season than it was this season, whoever is the manager

The manager will be Wilson, the summer will truly show both the restrictions he is operating under and the skill he has as a manager.

Sighhhh, people seem intent on blaming the manager. If Ched had kept his dick in his trousers, we wouldn't even be discussing it. Circumstances and injuries cocked up the season, too late to do anything about it. Keep him, I've enjoyed this season immensely. And comments about 'footballers passing the ball' as though it's easy, the previous managers didn't seem to have the knack of getting our players to pass.

Totally agree.

I put on another thread, I am not mormally a Wilson knocker, but on Saturday I thought his tatics a were truely awful. However I do not beleive we should get rid of him, as where do we go if we do. But with the new rules coming in, I think it is going to be difficult for him to recruit a new team. I don't think unless McCabe takes a decision to lose more money, and pay up the contracts of the high earners then we will get rid off them. So it may mean we have to let the younger players go, so that we balance the books under the new rules. This I beleive will be a very difficult season for us, and if we don't get it right this coming season, then we will be more in the mire than we are now.
