Who hired Robson, Blackwell, Adams etc on ridiculous contracts ???? Would that be McCabe and his lackeys by any chance ???? Who sells the young players at the first bid over £1 million ??? Would that be McCabe and his lackeys by any chance ????

As you said, hudds were really poor in an awful match. So we have no excuses here, Wilson cocked it up on the day.
In what way did he cock it up today?....what other choices did he have ? You mentioned a lack of effort in an earlier post...absolute bollocks. The effort was there but the quality at vital times wasn't.

I thought Lowton & Willo were poor today but we stopped them (and in particular Rhodes...did he have more than 10 touches all games?).I thought Hill was excellant. The only criticism i would say about Wilson was that I would have brought O'Halloran on at the start of extra time to run at them.

There will be a major overhall in the next few weeks with MacDonald,Willo,Simmo,Taylor,Ertl,Evans all released and I expect Quinn,Monty,Maguire and Lowton to leave. I hope we sign Matt Hill and Hoskins but apart from that,DW will have to wheel and deal I reckon

And if we'd have won on penalties he'd have got things right?

A Bristol City fan told me 4 weeks ago that DW bottles the big matchses ala their play off final, today it should have been 442. But what annoys me most is the players on a fortune for the last two seasons that have one to all that have let the club down.We probably were never good enough to stayup without Evans or Maccy(next season) and I think that we are a season too ahead of ouselves if we went up.We need to rebuild and get rid of Blackshit players and get DW to grow some balls and we can come back.Lets be honest next season we would have lost more than we would have won and the calls would be out there for DW to be sacked in the championship.
In Div 1 we will win more than we will lose get, rid of the old guard and get some young uns along with players that want to play DW style and we'll be ok. But who will take Monty and Quinn on 20k per week with a year to run.?

In what way did DW bottle it today ? We didn't have the players for 442 that were fit enough to play it. As for Monty and Quinn on £20k per week...you must be on a different planet to the real world

The board makes a budget available to the manager. The manager spends it. I am personally happy with the budgets, but unhappy with how we've spent it.

I think the way Blackwell spent money was hugely detrimental to us - considering the gamble didn't pay off in terms of a quick promotion. We are still paying the price. Some people seem to be thinking that the board should have intervened and stopped Blackwell from signing those expensive loan players and dishing out those luxury contracts to mediocre players, but I don't think that's normal. That's like saying the board - a bunch of money men - should know more about football than the person they put in charge of football matters.

I am not going to argue FOR the choice of managers mentioned.

To be fair Warnock started the rot long before Robson killed the club, Colin was ok with little cash to spend but his big moneys signings were disasters to a man, Horsfield and Akinbuyi ffs. Did Horsfield ever start more than a handfull of games ?

you've forgotten about Fathi and Shelton :-)

Kevin mccabe has failed in every single onjective hes ever set. Cant wait for administration and a decent owner like woolhouse

I can't see us going into admin. All the debts now McCabe's. He can wipe it out without admin and points deductions.

Not a chance of Admin, McCabe is making far too much money from the interest on those debts paid at above the bank base lending rate.

I don't think he's making anything at all in cash terms. True, interest is being charged on the books, but he has no chance of realising that debt.

I said it before, but the season ended after Exeter. We weren't good enough for automatic slots. We won 1-0 over 2 legs over 6th place in play off semi.... So how would we expect to win a wembley final?!?

When it comes to football McCabe is a complete douche

Now can we get rid of monty and simmonsen please.
simonsen made some great saves. monty cleared one off the line. to lose 8-7 in one of the most dramatic shoot outs ever seen, to the 'goalies' pens was heartbreaking... monty's presence on the pitch wasn't his fault, useless though it largely was. simmo will carry that miss to his grave.

God if that lot goes Conference here we come!

We need to keep the back four and MacDonald. But for Evans' cock we would have been promoted.

Wilson got a lot right today except... getting the midfield to link with the attackers. It looked like a game where we needed an extra two on the pitch! The midfield were very poor as they seem to be in every play off final we have played. Hill and Maguire were awesome and generally the back four were good. We also kept playing aimless balls forward when Huddersfield had big centre halves. Why? No play along the deck. Quinn was a lot at fault for that as was Lowton.

Wilson was right in his team selection but the tactics were wrong. Having said that it was bloody hot but just hoofing it was hardly going to get a goal.

Well on the down side that's 410 minutes of play off final minutes without a goal - what a bloody abysmal record, but at least we've scored 7 penalties. On reflection back at the airport it was the best performance we have put in in a play off final - but still poor.

yes mate that is true.

When you look at the benches, its a disgrace that we have such a high wage bill but no options on the bench.

I can see BIG BIG changes this summer.

unless he drops it.. monty kicked the ball you say?? stunning .. i didn't notice :D

I think on the face of it we played very well against a side on goal scoring form. The heat didn't and made it such a poor game, just have been awful for the neutral. Huddersfield were cynical, there were a number of late challenges in the first half which the officials ignored, then Flynn got a telling off for one right at the end of the first half.

How many teems can lose a shoot out after the opposition fails to score any if their first 3 penalties? United are clearly the only side capable of that!

Another day at the overpriced edifice that is Wembley.

Again,another disappointment.

And now,the fire sale will start tomorrow, with Matty Lowton and Harry McGuire being sold to the highest bidder,McDonald being let go because our "continued prudent financial position" will mean that the funds to extend his contract won't be there,et al. Like it always has been...

So,that's it. Enough. I let my season ticket go last year due to my own financial problems, but saved enough to afford next season. But why should I pay out for no return? Proof is that our neighbours speculated, and accumulated enough to overhaul us, and all the time, our chairman and board have been unwilling to seek or make their own investment to get us back to the Championship. As they always do.

To put another way,I feel like I'm sat in a chair in the Dragons Den...

"So,why,Mr McCabe should I invest my money in something that will let me down? You say I should be dedicated as every true Blade should be? Well, even Roy Castle had dedication, and look where it got him...

Let me tell you where I am,Kevin...

My, you really have got it in for Quinny havent you????? I've a great idea, lets flog him and keep Monty. That make ya happy?

Spot on. Dreadful lack of effort and creativity in midfield, aside from Quinn who was absolutely excellent but up front and the rest were lousy. Williamson in particular was awful.

Do you realise how idiotic you are in saying 'dreadful lack of effort'. You seriously think Monty and Doyle looked as if they weren't bothered? Sweating blood in ridiculous temperatures etc. How do you know how they felt before the game? Did you hear them talking saying 'you know what Nick, I aint bothered today.

The simple truth is they are exceptionally short of talent in terms of passing the football. Mix that in with a total lack of pace in our side and they all look pedestrian but to claim a lack of effort yesterday is completely beyond belief.

I am taken some comfort from fact that for all the shortcomings in that side yesterday they did everything they could to get us promoted.

Agree Mic - no lack of effort shown by anyone - nobody left anything in the changing room
The key to this for us was K-Mac's failed fitness test in the morning
If K-Mac had played then Quinn would have been more effective and our wingers would have had more options

"

Over the last few games,Maguire has been superb and has probably earned a move up a division. Over the same period,I cannot see why any championship club would buy a right back who can't tackle,is poor positionally and gets easily muscled out.

I would love to see Lowton on the right wing, but a championship right back he certainly isn't
