Many plaudits have been handed out today to the likes of Oli Mc and Oli N and rightly so , since they both put in outstanding performances .

By the same token , the contribution made by Ben Osborn to our overall performance should not be overlooked . Ok , there were a couple of times when he could have done better but when a player is as involved and on the ball as often as he was today , that is almost inevitable .

In all other respects I thought he put in an exemplary performance , full of energy , commitment and the ability and versatility to perform admirably in the three different roles he was asked to take on during the game .

Since his return from injury , his performances have improved rapidly game by game and is now looking like a player who could be an essential part of our ongoing success .

Well done Ben and keep up the good work .

Some struggle to do ‘one thing’ well. Young Ben has many adequate skill sets. Not to be overlooked.
Gets some fans upset by his lack of end product, but he’s not doing too bad really.
Players like Osborn and Robinson will be the cement that hold it all together. Graft is good. We have enough show ponies. ;)

Some people expect unreasonable things from players. Norwood’s the most pertinent example- despite being (in terms of pure stats) the best midfielder in the league, he’s a consistent scapegoat for a vocal minority on here.

I’m not a huge fan of Norwood, but as a person rather than a player!

How long has he been at the club, picking up a wage for inconsistent performances?

Maybe I’m wrong, but his best spell for the club comes just before his contract is up for renewal. He is performing well right now, but the cynic in me attributes this to contract renewal and his age.

It could be that he is better coached now. Much better than he was before. Not my decision. It just smells fishy to me.
I do realise he has many fans and many thinks he makes us tick! It is unpopular to suggest he is anything but brilliant all the time. That’s a load of poo too.

Can you explain why the few times we’ve been without him, we’ve been shocking. Norwood is as good a midfielder as you’ll get in the championship. Otherwise Berge would have taken over his role.

Utter rubbish. I have watched United since the 70's and Norwood is up there with my favourite players. His passing ability and vision is superb.

The problem with a minority of our fans is if a players face doesn't fit they are on his back if the slightest thing goes wrong. Show me the perfect player in the championship who can pass a ball like Norwood and never miss one!

He makes us tick. I also love his character and manner off the field.

What utter drivel. He was fantastic as soon as he joined, almost single handedly turning us from a mid-table championship team to one challenging for the title. He then had a very strong first season in the Prem.

2nd Prem season and under Slav he was poor, but since Hecky came in he’s been consistently one of our best performers.

We will really miss him when he’s gone and it’s a shame that people don’t appreciate him while he’s here.

We keep seeing how Heckingbottom is getting the best from different players.
McBurnie .. revelation this season.
Lowe.
RND.
Osborn.

He’s limited in what he does when he has the ball at his feet. Takes him a little more time to make a decision or see a pass in comparison to Norwood.

But he’s by far the most proactive ball winner and blocker in that midfield. If he was as good with the ball as Norwood he wouldn’t be with us.

His limitation his the use of his right foot, which causes him to sometimes play sideways or backwards. Having said that, just watch any top Premiership match and there are plenty of players with the same fault.

He was excellent yesterday though.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but “many think he makes us tick” yanks my chain. Can you think of anyone else in our squad who could come close to doing what he does? Sure, he misplaces the odd ball, misses a tackle and has a penchant for a Hollywood cross field ball when a simpler pass is on, but he is the bravest, most positive player with the ball we’ve got by an absolute mile. He always shows and usually tries to play a threatening ball. I think he is irreplaceable at the moment. When opposition press aggressively it can expose the system but I simply don’t get people who can’t see how fundamental Norwood is to our team and the success we’ve had since he walked in the door. Billy will always be the GOAT but Norwood is up there with the best of the rest for the contribution he’s made for me

Osborn performed above his usual standards yesterday.

Can’t criticise him too much as he’s not right footed but plays a role down the right.

He had lots of energy yesterday.

I can't understand why he does everything he can to avoid using his right leg. When there's no other option he can and has put in great crosses with his right. He did one yesterday.
You should try it more often Ben!
Keep those defenders guessing.

Can see why Forest fans were split on their views with him...for me jack of all trades master of none but every squad needs at this level needs one and never hides away

In the first half he rarely marked his man leaving Burnley too much room in his part of the midfield.
He was better in the second half, but let us not mistake endeavour (good though it is) with efficiency in doing the job he was given.

Stop playing him at Wingback and the exposure of his limitations will fade away. Deserves massive credit IMO. Came back into the team, off the back of a lengthy injury, into a non-preferred position and consistently gives 100% while not being a huge liability.

All teams need players like him. Just a straight up , hard working, no fluff footballer and that's the best compliment I can give.

Not seen him play too much for you but I imagine it's the same thing that we had.

People need to be slagging someone and in the case of Ben Osborn I sometimes think because he tries to take responsibility however the team is playing, it's more obvious if he gets shown up when his ability let's him down. I also think he can't quite take that personal responsibility for the team and turn it into enough control and influence on a game which is why those jack of all trades ultimately can only end up as squad players

Are you looking for work as a judge on Strictly?🤣
I agree with everything you said there, by the way…

I think Hecky said he had two separate injuries at the same time, one in each leg!

I’m guessing you didn’t go to or watch the game yesterday! Norwood ran the game and gave a masterclass performance

And the award for the stupidest post of the year goes to ........ Charlieblade

Osborn needs game time he always seems less effective coming back in after injury. He also always works flat out for 90 minutes. His energy never drops making him grow in impact later in a game.As a squad player he is brilliant but for me not a starter if all our players are fit. Norwood for me always starts. We have tried other players in his spot Berge is far more effective playing further forward. No one else at the club has his passing ability. His problem is his lack of real mobility and he is far less effective when teams target and really press him.We can't change that but players like Doyle and to an extent Osborn and Fleck yesterday will run enough to take some pressure off. If promoted I would want an upgrade on both but this is not a criticism of them now. Right now they are key players for us. Norwood like Bash and Billy has earned high regard at United whatever happens in the future.

I think it was Carl Asaba who likened Ben in yesterday's game....on rad sheff
"Osborn is like a hyper active jack Russell terrier in the middle of the park, he is playing superb"

He reminds me of a young Quinny , if he could take a bad , Blackwell style useless short near post corner , Ben would almost be on par .
