For those who ARE going - which pub?

Naff that, I'm an ale drinker, although such in London is fairly scarce I believe...REAL ale I mean ;)

They've usually got the normal selection on tap... If i remember rightly I had a selection of Best, Bombardier and London Pride last time.

The can bars had Carlsberg and John Smiths if I remember correctly.

Now that's more like it - I do prefer tap beer any day of the week, although at a push, the John Smiths will suffice. And a good pint of London Pride (please, no watering down) is one of my 'southern' faves.

Mmmm, sounding very good now...

I think we'll be going to The Moon On The Hill in Harrow. Went there before the Burnley game and it was pretty good. Busy but not too busy, we drank them dry of Carling by 11.15 though!

A lot of my Blackpool mates went to a pub on the east side of the ground which is virtually next to the Wembley steps. Apparently it looks more like a 'gentleman's club' or strip joint from the outside :)

The also said the beer was about 70% water in the Torch.

As opposed to the usual 95%....

For those that are heading for Canon's Park. Is there a pub there or is it better to get to Wembley and head for one around there?

Getting dropped off at Wembley, is it worth the £7 odd on the tube (+hassle) to head to Baker Street for a few pots before the game rather than hang round the nearby boozers? Went in Green Man all day last time, don't fancy that again.

Just seen this on the FSF email, it might be useful, it might not be:

Wembley: Huddersfield-Sheff Utd

21st May 2012

The Met Police have asked the Football Supporters' Federation to pass on the following information regarding the League One play-off final between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United on Saturday 26th May 2012 (3pm KO). Licensed premises in the area of Wembley Stadium have been divided between supporters of both clubs as such:
Huddersfield Town supporters' licensed premises:
  • Greyhound, 324 Harrow Road
  • JJ Moons, 397 High Road
  • Thirsty Eddie’s, 412 High Road
  • Innisfree Freehouse, 30 - 32 Harrow Road
  • Mannions Freehouse, 313 Harrow Road
  • The Bear, 397a High Road
  • Speakeasy, 299 - 301 Harrow Road
  • Blue Room, 53 Wembley Hill Road
Sheffield United supporters' licensed premises:
  • The Torch, 1 - 5 Bridge Road
  • Crock of Gold, 23 Bridge Road
  • Blue Check Café, 12 - 13 Empire Way
  • Premier Lodge, Bridge Road
  • Rim Zim, 1 Empire Way
  • The Parish, 120 Wembley Park Drive
  • First Class Sports Bar, 125 Wembley Park Drive
  • Piri Piri Sports Bar, 33 - 39 Bridge Road
  • Crystal (formerly Silverspoons), 1 Southway
  • The Green Man, Dagmar Avenue
  • Alisan & Metropolis, Engineers Way
The Met Police say all pubs will have door staff on them which is either a condition of their licence or agreed on a voluntary basis. Entry will be gained by the production of a match ticket. There will be no police on any of the public houses checking who enters as this is a matter for the licensee rather a police function.
The above list relates to public houses in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. There are many other pubs that both sets of supporters can use within walking distance of the stadium or a short tube ride away. These pubs may or may not be segregated but this is entirely at the discretion of the licensee.
  • If you're familiar with Twitter and have a ticket for the game keep an eye on the Met's feed. They'll update all the latest matchday news - closed pubs, cancelled trains, and so on - via their Twitter feed: @MetPoliceEvents.
