For those who ARE going - which pub?

Probably going to stay away from those nearby and just go Euston Tap instead, seems not too pricey for the smoke and it's a nice enough place apparently

Fox and Goose at Hanger Lane for us ,20 mins on the bus to wembley. Going down Friday morning UTB

You can't quite see all the people pissing in the trees from this angle :D

I have to say I was really disappointed with The Green Man in 2009. Whether it was nerves or what, but the atmosphere I thought, was really flat. Plenty of drinking :) but not a lot of singing. I think we'll try getting off at Baker Street this time.

Get off a stop earlier at Gt Portland St Norks.

The Torch was fine v Burnley big empty rooms with loads of bar staff geared up for serving ale .Not a wife and kids type place but for a gang of lads interested in supping it was sound an as we`d booked in we were able to park coach in car park behind and thus avoid car park nightmare

Are the pubs allocated to fans or is it 'first in' gets the site.

Was planning on going to The Torch again but will it be blue or will it be red?

With the amount of fans likely to be going it'll be a free for all I suspect. From what I've heard they were all mixed last Saturday although the Green Man was well and truly claret and blue as it's owned by a hammer.

Not sure how it works as we were put onto it vian England contacts for Burnley game but its at our end if you know what i mean so perhaps landlords are told to disuade certain groups ?

Was surprised how easy it was to get served when we played Burnley, big factor when drinking.

Went to a place called Cafe 2000 last time. Looks poxy from outside but surprisingly decent beer garden :)

Yup that impressed us!! lol. Plastic pots but staff were all on the ball and looking to serve. No tables etc just the big room and the standing area outside. And our coach in the car park at the side. Also if anyone gets there early theres a beeer off on the top road and a Corals bookies if that suits.
Funny having that big barrier outside because Millwall had played theday before though.

Just a general Q to those who might be "in the know": given we have the East side of the Stadium, are there any pubs around this area, as the majority of suggestions i.e. 'The Torch', 'The Green Man' etc., are - if my navigation is up to speed - on the west side?

Moreover, anyone know what sorta price you're paying inside Wembley for a pint? Just curious...

Lastly, would anyone care to recommend where to definitely avoid (for whatever reasons)?

Cheers guys!

Last time we just had a drink from one of these portable bars (lorry with bar in back) and that was ok. Prices inside were expensive from what I remember £8 pie and pint DEAL

£8 for a pie & a pint  Hope they're serving it in 24K gold tankards...

Those 'portable' bars: are they just parked up near the Stadium?

Yes the one we went to was just to the right of wembley way along with burger vans etc. Cheaper than inside and not as much of a crush than the pubs. That said I can only have the one this year as Im driving back:(

A lot of my Blackpool mates went to a pub on the east side of the ground which is virtually next to the Wembley steps. Apparently it looks more like a 'gentleman's club' or strip joint from the outside :)

The also said the beer was about 70% water in the Torch.

I thought the barrier was so they could stop what happened in '97, when the beer garden was rammed everyone was well oiled and the bar took about £300 due to everybody just buying from the offies.

Nicked off Bladesmad

The Met Police have asked the Football Supporters' Federation to pass on the following information regarding the League One play-off final between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United on Saturday 26th May 2012 (3pm KO). Licensed premises in the area of Wembley Stadium have been divided between supporters of both clubs as such:

Huddersfield Town supporters' licensed premises:

Greyhound, 324 Harrow Road
JJ Moons, 397 High Road
Thirsty Eddie’s, 412 High Road
Innisfree Freehouse, 30 - 32 Harrow Road
Mannions Freehouse, 313 Harrow Road
The Bear, 397a High Road
Speakeasy, 299 - 301 Harrow Road
Blue Room, 53 Wembley Hill Road

Sheffield United supporters' licensed premises:

The Torch, 1 - 5 Bridge Road
Crock of Gold, 23 Bridge Road
Blue Check Cafe, 12 - 13 Empire Way
Premier Lodge, Bridge Road
Rim Zim, 1 Empire Way
The Parish, 120 Wembley Park Drive
First Class Sports Bar, 125 Wembley Park Drive
Piri Piri Sports Bar, 33 - 39 Bridge Road
Crystal (formerly Silverspoons), 1 Southway
The Green Man, Dagmar Avenue

The Met Police say all pubs will have door staff on them which is either a condition of their licence or agreed on a voluntary basis. Entry will be gained by the production of a match ticket. There will be no police on any of the public houses checking who enters as this is a matter for the licensee rather a police function.

The above list relates to public houses in the immediate vicinity of the stadium. There are many other pubs that both sets of supporters can use within walking distance of the stadium or a short tube ride away. These pubs may or may not be segregated but this is entirely at the discretion of the licensee.

Torch looking good

Thanks for this Grumpy - I recall a similar list on Blackpool forum from just over a week ago. So, to those of you who've been before, any of the above particularly recommended? To avoid?

Cheers!

we got more pubs than you, we got more pubs than you :):):)

Personally I'd prefer to have a drink away from the ground where the beer will be as decent as southern beer can be and not at rip off prices. That list of pubs would be the ones to avoid for me.

Good point metal, would probably concur with that too. Standing around in cram-packed 'beer gardens' ain't my cup o' tea no more; especially given my back problems. I really need to sit and sup, preferably something good to boot (like a proper pint of London Pride, one of my personal faves)...

If you get yourself to the Green Man early enough you'll get a bench :)

Whilst I let to get served quick, packed out beer gardens full of happy Blades (at least until it's time to set off down the hill) is all part of the atmosphere.

There's always the can bars and stuff of your own.

iS IT EASY ENOUGH TO GET YOUR OWN CANS INTO THE gREEN mAN THEN?

[Fuckin Caps Lock!!]

I'm a bit tight me!

Totally agree with the 'atmosphere' bit, but depends what one deems 'early enough', then I'd have to vacate my beloved 'bench' to get further bevvy's, although my lad will be with me. But as mattbianco asks, is it easy enough to get your own into the beer garden? Never tried such so really wouldn't know...

I couldn't advocate such a practice :D

You do however just walk through a decent sized car park into the beer garden. That or between some trees into the bottom of the beer garden. They'll have can bars themselves too.
