Opinion on the Hecky doubters

Maybe he wasn’t convinced Stevens could play for that long without taking a risk. If he’d brought Stevens on and he’d got an injury, he’d have been criticised for that instead. We’ve just won a game without ever really being in much trouble and posters can’t wait to jump on Hecky again with nitpicking.
People moaning about Fleck coming off. He’s played 45 mins of football since August and he’s playing centre midfield which, as anyone who has played any kind of football knows, is pretty tiring.

Never get the extreme reactions to substitutions. The manager has all the data on player fitness and injuries, not your average twitter expert who gets all their opinions from Champ Manager. Seen loads of “he got the subs badly wrong”…..we won the game and never really looked troubled ffs.

Spot on!

Im really enjoying hecky and I’m happy with our start. His management of player fitness and subs appear questionable at times though to say the least.

Early in the summer West Brom snapped up 2 players on big wages. The hysteria on Rumour Mill was laughable.
Is there any chance that the Bedwetters (West Brom are a shining light) and the Hecky doubters (master tacticians and substitution experts) could be the same posters?

Yes I am

We were dominating midfield with Fleck playing well, the change to lose a player in midfield & have another up top completely confused me.

Then Mcbunie was dead on his feet & we left him on with game already won?

We started the game very well & that’s what won us the game
Fleck was always a yard away from where he should have been ,but as we know with flecky after a lay off it takes about 3 games for him to get back to his best .

I've been impressed with Hecky overall.

He's brought:
  • Squad unity and good spirit
  • Attacking front foot football once more
  • Defensive solidarity
  • We're competitive most weeks
  • Increased creativity
  • Positive intentions to our recruitment, aiming for squad depth, defensive depth, and players who are intended to be young and exciting. Granted not all have paid off.
  • Humility, openness, honesty to his interviews. I think he speaks really well.
  • A reconnect between club and the fans.
I don't think we've got it all right, but as I think Carlton Blade has said before, games wise he's still relatively young as a manager.

Injuries have been unprecedented and an utter shit show. How culpable the management are in all of that remains to be seen, but what he's achieved so far is in spite of (and has been hampered by) that. He's doing well all things considered.

There's the odd questionable team selection and my main gripe, substitutions. Use them earlier, and when squad depth is really limited, use more of them. Main area for improvement for me.

But from where we were, to where we are now and how competitive we've been along the way, it's 8/10 for me, with optimism for improvement.

I genuinely didn’t think he played too badly & felt we looked more balanced with him in the team. 6/10 would be fair, the one thing he’s got to do more of for me is improving us going forward. I remember the Fleck we saw vs Aston Villa 3 years ago & he was unplayable, he’s only 31 he’s definitely not finished (or Finnish) as some seem to believe

I like Hecky overall but you can’t help but worry about the injuries. Then you see he seems to have had injury issues at Leeds, Barnsley and Hibs and a pattern is emerging…

Didn’t need to have data to see that he was tiring quite quickly.

Some good points made, was mcburnie kept on for his defensive work?

Yesterday we just cut the dopey mistakes out we've been making recently, it's those that caused those poor results not anything to do with hecky.
