Oyster Card sounds like a good idea. How much would I need on it for Harrow/Wembley/Wembley/Harrow?

£2.80 return (£1.40) each way. You need to pay a fiver deposit to get one, bit it's much cheaper for these types of journeys and saves faffing about queuing to buy a ticket at the station.

Seriously? Is that all?

Does that £5 deposit go onto my card for me to use?

not to mention that when you're being shoved into the gates at Wembley, you just touch the card onto the gate and it opens - instead of decking about with a screwed up ticket

I don't believe it does, at least it didn't when I paid my £2 deposit a few years ago (inflation eh!).
So it'd be a £5 deposit and then I'd need to top it up? (Which I assume is a minimum of a fiver?)

How much would it be if I was to just pay on the day?

£4.30 each way, so even if you never use it again and don't get your deposit back it works out cheaper.

You can top it up with a minimum of a fiver when you order it online. Not sure how long it takes to come though...

Awesome. Thank you. I'll order one now, sure it'll be here before next weekend!

Although £4.30 each way = £8.60 whereas £5 deposit plus minimum £5 top-up = £10 ;)

Still, worth the extra £1.40 for the convenience though.

Yeah, I realised that when I re-read my post. But, as Swiss says, you can use it in future seasons!

I bought one a few years ago when I was on a trip to london, used it ever since on pay as you go, just top it up when I arrive and away I go. Getting one for the missus for the Olympics

Ordered it so I hope its here before next Saturday otherwise thats a tenner down the drain!

Suppose they're good actually if the fares are so much cheaper if you use one. Didn't realise that was the case.

You can buy them at the Tube stations and train stations and they charge them up for you (if its a manned station)

SwissBlade

Wrong quote I think mate ;)

No i meant that if you haven't received yours then you can get one at the stations, so no biggie, if you have a confirmation email then they may even give you a card on that basis

Its one system in the UK that i'm impressed with

thanks swiss. There are 6 adults and a 6yr old though so it may work out cheaper at the stadium. Just be a 3 hr wait to get out of the area

Assumed you were intending to reply to stannyblade post as he asked if you could buy them on the day :D

I know our postal service can be poor but I would hope it turns up in the next 10 days!

Looks like parking at Harrow On The Hill is for season ticket holders only (unfortunately not Sheff Utd season ticket holders). We were planning on driving to Harrow, leaving the car there and then getting the tube to Wembley.

Thanks for pointing that out Whitehawk, this probably a better bet, Gayton Road Harrow HA1 2HN.

Thank you. I'll save that address and aim to park there.

EDIT - Is that near to the tube station and all the pubs?
I would say about 500m from The Moon on the Hill and another 300m to tube station, even I can walk that far.

https://maps.google.com/maps?client=ubuntu&channel=fs&oe=utf-8&q=Gayton Road Harrow HA1 2HN&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x487613750da3f4b9:0xdcbe51bffd8dfd1,Gayton Rd, Harrow, Greater London HA1&gl=uk&ei=38iyT6-PBsuU8gPD7diZCQ&oi=geocode_result&ved=0CB4Q8gEwAA

Station is just off the map, to the left.

Excellent. Can't remember the name of the pub we went in last time. I'm sure it was a Wetherspoons though and they'd definitely sold out of lager by 11:15!

If we are travelling by coach, are we better to park in the actual wembley car park and just endure the wait to get out on the way back or are there better alternatives for coaches, where we could possibly get the tube in maybe?

Cheers

We're doing train down and coach back. The coach price has already increased from what we paid last night.

Big Tony and I will be doing the same train and coach combo. As of last night the coach price was up to £14.

And when I say the same train, only just. None of that second class drinking White Lightning with the riff-raff stuff for us. We shall be in first class, partaking of a cheeky little breakfast sherry.:D

East Coast? What time as probably hopping on at Donny?

Also, do you think majority of Huddersfield fans will go same route or through Manchester?
Same route and prices are going up. I'm off do
Wn Friday night to stay with bro. Lots of trains from Donny to London.

There's plenty of parking at the St Anne's centre which is right next to Harrow on the Hill tube station. There are at least 2 multi-storey car parks. The pubs in Harrow aren't much to write home about, though.
