Just wondering, considering our current dire situation up front, are we due Tonne back or can York keep him till their play-off final?

i thought tonne was a decent player, so if we could bring him back it would be a big bonus

I would have thought we would have him back by now if the Club could. So I presume he will stay till they finish their season. Either way he'll be in the squad next season whatever division we're in

Top be honest I'm fully expecting Porter to turn out to be Lord Lucan and Cresswell to be some international drug smuggling overlord knowing our luck, so we need everyone we can....

Conference playoff is on the 20th May so he might be available for the final.

He could be a pub trivia question in years to come that lad if both teams make it :)

Has Tonne been recalled??? I noticed he wasn't involved today for York City's play-off 2nd leg match.

no chance of a recall, that only happens to us around transfer deadline day :D

Lets hope the conference results are not an omen............. Wrexham knocked out by Luton who finished 17 pts behind them in the 46 games

98 points and didn't get promoted - and someone said we were unlucky?

Scary as we finished the season exactly 17pts clear of Stevenage, they say lightning never strikes the same place twice ................................. bet they don't say that at Lincoln Cathedral

If we are good enough we will win if not we wont. Simples

playoffs are stupid end of.. it's like getting the first four of the ten thousand metres at the Olympics and saying 'right lads.. one more lap.. the winner takes it all'

Not quite true. It's like sending those who finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth for one more lap to decide the bronze medal.

Is it fair to say no one knows if Tonne is available then?

Personally I was hoping he would be, I think his workrate, enthusiasm and finishing is better than anything else currently available to us.

Well he's listed on the betting for this weekend's FA Trophy final first goalscorer at 8/1. So I'm assuming his loan lasts till the end of the season.

He scored that one goal when he came on as sub and why did he not get another look in?
Because he didn't impress in training perhaps? Or maybe because we had Evans and Creswell up front and as a young lad it was better for him to get game time?

Or maybe DW asked him if he wanted a game, and Tonne misheard and thought he'd asked where he was from, to which he replied "Norway", which DW took as a Tevez-style geordie refusal and promptly shipped him off to York..... I'll get me coat.......

He came on against Bradford in the JPT, played poorly and then missed the decisive penalty, and was shipped to York shortly afterwards.

Don't think he's played loads for York, but did score the goal that guarenteed them the play offs. Would imagine he'll get a look in in one of the two finals they're at over the next few weeks. I'm off to Wembley to see them tomorrow in the FA Trophy, so if he plays I'll let you know how he does.

he has only made 3 substitute appearances there, he should be running riot in the conferance if hes going to play in league 1 or possibly championship.
we have far better reserve players that should be playing ahead of him, once this team move on when there contracts expire in the next few weeks.

I agree. He scored that one good goal for us, the sort of sideways overhead kick thing, but other than that hasn't really showed a lot. He was absolutely shocking when we played Bradford from what I remember.

I know it would be nice to think we had some sort of secret weapon to unleash, but I've not seen enough from Tonne to suggest it's him and I can't really see what all the fuss surrounding him from some fans is all about.

I wasn't really classing him as a secret weapon.

His record at York shows he's no world beater. But over 3 gmaes (maybe two :( ) a fresh pair of legs is a fresh pair of legs. Seeing as Ched is banged up, BT is bang out of order and Hoskins banged his knee (that's a lot of banging) it could be all hands to the pump. We're hardly drowning in attacking capability. If we're one nil down with ten minutes to go are we happy to be only lumping it up to Porter and Cresswell?

Syd - who are the reserve players you class as 'far better' who play a similar role to Tonne? Not having a pop, I genuinely can't remember many of our reserves today (I know they won their league, so there must be some quality in there).
