So far this season, the following players have been, or are, injured:

Foderingham
Davies
Lowe
Bogle
Robinson
Clark
Basham
JOC
Stevens
Anel
Baldock
Berge
Doyle
McAtee
Fleck
Osborn
Coulibally
Sharp
Brewster
McBurnie

And yet we're top of the Championship.

Some of our fans need to have some perspective. We seem to have picked up a fair bit of plastic in the Wilder years. It's an incredibly hard league to get out of and we have the worst injury crisis I can ever remember. And yet every time we lose it's like a paddy in a ball pool in here.

Have some patience ffs.

The question is why are they injured. Everyone knows how many, why? It really isn't normal.

Well, we've not had a decent training pitch for a year, so maybe that?
Agree with your op but the reason given last season was how boggy one side of the training ground was , it has been virtually dry since March/April until this week so how is it that also the injuries are happening during games!

I don’t know. But Hecky pointed out how you get to a stage where injuries are creating more injuries - because players you’d normally rest, take off, use from the subs bench are having to play 90 minutes because the two senior players who also cover their position are not available. Playing them for the full 90 (or longer than you’d want) increases the risk of injury.
That must be part of it.

Injuries are part of the game. Opens the door for others. That was my first look at young Arblaster and I like what I see.

To still be top of the league after dropping 8 points out of 9 shows a) how great a start we made, b) how average the rest of the league is, hopefully without a midweek game this week we might be able to get a couple back in and maybe this break for the World Cup might actually suit us when I thought it was going to ruin our momentum.

Well having listened to interviews with world class managers over half a century that's a complete new one. The more I think about it the less sense it makes. In fact it's absolute nonsense.

Great sensible post

Pls stop this kind of objective assessment and let’s have more Hecky out

No it’s not imo

Laws of probability apply to his logic

Top of the league despite massive injuries is a tribute to the team, get behind the team and give a thought on having all available after the desertgames in nov/dec.

Your opinion.
Still baffled why our injury list is the fastest growing stat of our season with no signs of it slowing down. Must be close to not being able to meaningfully fill the subs bench whilst a top 2 finish eleven occupy the sick bay.

I think it’s perfectly reasonable to be perplexed and concerned about the injuries. It’s not anti Sheff Utd to question what is actually happening.

I know the staff will be asking the very same questions too.

We have a very good chance of going up this season and to date have done unbelievably well to be where we are but like today we will lose games and this momentum if it remains as is. It could be as simple as bad luck or it could be something that’s within our control.

Agree

It’s freaky isn’t it - when our players get injured we don’t seem to see then for months .

I’ve been following Utd for 53 years and I can honestly say I’ve never known anything like this

What I am intrigued with is the comment often made that Hecky has a history with extremely high levels of player injuries at the clubs he’s managed . Wonder if this is trust and if so why ?

Training style ?
Ineffective medical resources and recovery plans?
Tactics ?

Whatever the reason our injury list is truly unbelievable and if not addressed will certainly hamper us as it did today

Just posted this on the match thread. Sorry for duplication but maybe relevent here?
Lots of talk about the training ground..
I read elsewhere on here that it's been completely re-laid as 2 Desso pitches, with drainage and underground heating. Not yet available. Due to be ready soon.
So presumably we are training on some makeshift pitches where facilities like ice baths and hot showers and hot baths may not be available? Guessing here but not getting a hot bath or shower or instant treatment after training hard will not be helping re muscle injuries..

You're spot on.
I'd love to see stats on that like you can see win/lose/draw stats. I too am aware of the rumours that he has a history in management of having unusually high levels of injured players. Without proof then it's just rumours, but whatever is the reason/s the club should absolutely prioritise them and do whatever it takes to eradicate them. Left unchecked they will leave us mid table come seasons end having blown our best chance at a swift return to the prem and huge financial gain leaving us losing all good talent and stuffed re parachute payments.
This season really is pivotal.
