The thought of Cresswell and Porter up front has me looking for the weekend holiday brochures, so given that Porter would be outpaced by an athsmatic ant with heavy shopping, have we any alternatives up front?

Could we try Willo there? Lowton has an eye for goal. Any other options?

Do we have any good reserves? After all Slew came in last year and for a bit was a revelation (of sorts).

Not having a go at you alco but who gives a flying f88k? Forget the play offs. Let's get rid of the overpaid dross and rebuild.

I think we'd have heard about them TBH. I think playing around with the first team is as good as it gets.

Goal threats are Willo, Lowton, McDonald.
And that`s the lot.

Yes, tis true. But Willo really can score. I'd go with him up front with Cressy. I really don't think we have another option (other than Cressy and Porter  ).

Willo, if showing the right attitude, could be a real goal threat in this division. Well hes scored some real crackers all through the season.
Deffo worth a try with Cresswell.

Might just be worth a shot that. Play K Mac in a more advanced roll Doyle holding, Quinn and Lowton down right Flynn and Taylor left. Just chucking ideas out really.

From where I was watching today, he outpaced two defenders in creating the late chance for himself where he hit the post. I do think he gets more stick than is warranted at times.

That said, after one of his awful first-touches a minute after he came on, Frank Barlow simply yelled 'f***k's sake Ports!'. I like Barlow - seems to tell it how it is....

For me...on up front,Quinn centre midfield and push KMc on behind Cressy to run at the defence

Cresswell in the Craig Beattie lone striker role and KMc in the Brian Howard advanced-midfielder role?

It's a pity Beattie's likely suspension will rule him out of the hot-headed Jamie Ward red-card-cameo role when we get to Wembley.

Why change the position Willo has been scoring from? What happened to Tonne?

Good point, ish. But we've had changes forced upon us, and as it stands we don't look quite up to it. So I'd try something different - less of a risk than doing nothing, possibly.

can we get tonne back from York?.. always thought he looked quite good.. certainly better than o'headless and porter

It's not about the positions they start in, it's about the positions they get into that matters. Stevenage are no mugs though, they will knew that our most potent threat now Ched's out of the picture is going to come from the right hand side.

I'd go for a 4-2-3-1.
---------------------------------Simmo-----------------------------------
Lowton-----------Maguire-------------------Collins---------------Taylor
----------------------Doyle---------------------McDonald----------------
Flynn---------------------------Willo---------------------------Quinn
------------------------------Cresswell--------------------------------------

Doyle and McDonald can play a bit deeper. With Doyle offering cover to the back four. This would allow Lowton and Taylor to push forward a little (and offer Lowton some cover as he's been drifting a bit lately defensively). The three behind Creswell could be quite fluid, with all of them swapping throughout the game. However, I'd be inclined to give Williamson a bit of a free role(let him do what he wants), playing just off of Cresswell - who would be our target man.

I think this is our best chance. We know Stevenage are organised and without Evans we need to try and swamp the midfield in order to push players like Quinn and Williamson up to try and get a goal.

I'd go with that. should also give quinn license to roam if Macca is playing a bit deeper.

Exactly the same players

---------------------------------Simmo-----------------------------------
Lowton-----------Maguire-------------------Collins---------------Taylor
----------------------------------Doyle-------------------------------------
Flynn---------------Willo------------------McDonald-------------Quinn
------------------------------Cresswell--------------------------------------

Whichever side it goes down, the other side have to get into the box, and 1 of Willo and MacD have to get up with Cresswell, or past him.

Could be worth a go in the away game. We're hopelessly short of pace, but every player in that team should be able to make some attacking contribution, while playing in a "defensive" formation. Another option would be to keep Williamson wide and bring in McAllister centrally to add some off the ball movement.

To be honest Bergen, I would do the same at home, I think Porter could do Cresswells job as well, just hold it up until the wings and or full backs on one side get down there.

Lowton, Flynn, Taylor and Quinn need fueling up this week .....

It will be 4-4-2 Cresswell and O'Halloran most likely in my opinion. DW only played 4-5-1 once this season to my knowledge, away at Everton, I doubt he'll take the same step vs Stevenage.

We need to press on Stevenage as quickly as possible. The full backs need watching by our wide men as they tend to press up and get balls into the box. Doyle needs to man mark the litte fat lad in midfield who was running at us with the ball and seemed to orchestrate most of the Stevenage moves. Their back four looked very panicky with the way we played in the second half at BDTBL. I think K Mac with a free roll could be the key.

The other thing they did very well was back into our defenders to win high balls, or at least prevent Maguire or Collins clearing. Then they picked up the second ball and ran at us.

We could have mithered the ref more about that. Or perhaps booted them up the arse.
