One for Silent Blade. Bumped into the above in a bar last night watching the England game. He said he'd played for United and his profile picture was circa 1990 in a Blades shirt, but I certainly don't remember him and can't find much out about him except he's friends with Charlie Hartfield. Any idea silent?

All I could find is that he had a brief period with Donny and has played most of his ‘career’ in non league south eastern teams like Romford, Bromley, Carshalton. Maybe Bassett had him on trial.

I think he must have done. Think I found a pic of him in a Wimbledon shirt which must be the connection.

Just signed for Chelsea from Leicester.

Don't remember him at the Lane though.

I remember him from my early teens watching the reserves at the Lane. Decent crowds then and some great players about, most Premier League subs benches would start in their reserve sides in midweek. Saw Beckham, Scholes, all that lot regularly.

Wade was briefly in our own golden generation of Sal Bibbo, Mark Foran and Mark Blount, halcyon days 🤣🤣

From memory he was very quick, could control it further than most centre halves could clear it, and couldn't finish for shite. Made Adie Littlejohn look like Pele.

He's listed in the Who's Who: played in a friendly against Cambridge in August 1992, and then 10 appearances for the reserves, before moving to Donny.
A few of us went down to that pre-season friendly at Cambridge. If I recall correctly it was a 0-0 draw and the only thing I can remember was Wade Falana (always wrongly thought it was Fanala for some reason) who played well on the right wing. He was a triallist at the time I believe and we all thought he was going to be a decent player for us, clearly we were wrong.

I was there too. We actually won 2-1. What was memorable for me was that the new back pass law had just come in and at one point David Barnes went down on his knees to head the ball back to the goalie. The ref gave a free kick and united vehemently protested. Of course, the ref was right as that sort of contrivance to head was indeed not allowed.

Thanks for the reminder, a more memorable game than I recalled and it happened just as you have described. In retrospect the best rule change that I can recall, stopped that ridiculous to me to you nonsense between the keeper and defender for minutes on end.
