Can't fault the effort but sadly we just aren't quite good enough when it matters, play offs for us and we all know how that always ends.

gave ourselves to much to do, started the wrong front pair, on another night there goals don't go in and we win 2 nil.

2 deffo penalties not given clear hand balls, their 2nd goal a bit of a fluke but yeah wrong choice of strikers and a poor poor 1st half. Much better after the changes in the 2nd half but by then it was too late ............ this club is cursed

Why he didnt start with Cresswell, Beattie and Flynn. We needed experience and quality upfront and he picked Porter and O'Hallaron. Agent Wilson anyone!

i really believe we will win and they will draw

puppet i love you enthusiasm but lets be realistic. they havent lost in 15 games, they won 10 of them, they are spawning results all the time, Wycome are down, have won 4 drawn 4 away goals this season and conceded 48 goals.

Wendy's luck has been holding remarkably. Last minute winner, then daylight robbery at Brentford, Wycombe losing their lead and being relegated before next week...

I'd also add United conceding two freak goals today, but we really weren't that great in general so no complaints. at 2-2

wycombe are playing without pressure next week, if we can nick a couple of early goals the pressure will be on at the sty big time. its time we got some luck

Indeed. After being relgated in the last game when the odds were substantially in our favour in 1981, 1994 and 2007, maybe its time we acheived something against the odds. Not holding my breath though.

Sadly I think the favourite outcome this time is for us to finish third with 92 feckin' points. 92! Another statistical milestone in the pursuit of misery.

*sigh*

PS - And a GD of 42+. Now about that Merlot.....

Yes, how can that be possible, averaging 2 points a game and not going up!

Don't give up on the play offs though. I cling to the hope that after 5 failures, we must be due a win...

The hope there is that I can't get to the final this year. So if we make it then that's one fewer jinxed Blade to worry about.

We need a priest to go round the lane sprinkling Holy water about and exorcise the ghost in the south stand

That was terrible. Biggest budget again in this division. We should have pissed this league. Wilson will not last until Christmas.

Shockingly poor 1st hour - then did everything but win in the end. Once again our painfully slow back four could not cope with pace & direct running. We looked far better when Beattie came - he won virtually every flick on.

But all in all another painful fuck up to add to the collection.

Cresswell n Beattie anyday over ohalloran n porter.
But quality?
Its a thing we do not have.

can't see us winning auto now i'm afraid:(

You never know.

Yes, Wednesday are likely to beat Wycombe comfortably. But, it's now their's to lose. Strange things have happened before on the final day of a season.

It's important we do well at Exeter. If we get ahead early (and we have now shown we can actually score) the Hillsborough crowd could get nervous, and we know how that can sometimes adversely affect the players.

The odds are against us, but the fat lady isn't quite on the stage yet.

Nor am I, but I think we all thought we'd blown it in 1984. We lost 3-1 at Bolton and all hope was gone. Then bottom of the table and already relegated Port Vale beat Hull. That result seemed impossible before it happened.

Logically, Wednesday were far more likely to drop points at Brentford than at home to Wycombe and I feel they are likely to win comfortably. But I still refuse to give up hope. If we can get ahead early against Exeter, the Wednesday crowd (and their players) will become aware of that. If their game stays goalless into the second half, you never know. Wednesday overstretch and Wycombe break away in the last minute...... (then I wake up!)

Disappointed but not completely downhearted. Beatties flick on for Peter O'Hanra-Hanrahan should have been a goal. The changes - Cresswell and Flynn made a big difference and Beattie played well when he came on. Both Quinn and Taylor had poor games and Porter was ineffective.

Who knows what will happen next week. Keep the faith. Que sera sera, what will be, will be.

UTB

It was always going to end like this. It's the Blades Way, there always has to be a twist that ruins our season. Play-Off failure is nailed on unfortunately, team morale will be through the floor after throwing away second place to our rivals so near to the end of the season, and their star team-mate being in prison will not help at all.

good for you oldblade.. i'm usually pretty positive but this one has kicked me right in the bollocks.. i hope that you are right.. i sort of think if i post enough 'i give up' posts then sods law will kick and and make me look a pillock.. which would be great actually (trying to provoke the gods!)
