If Preston's off then they are all off - only reason they maybe off is pulling the plod into London and onto other duties to do with the Funeral etc.Swansea should be fine. Preston police issues might mean it's off...

Isn’t this a unilateral decision by the football authorities? Even the government said go ahead as I understand it so your ire may be misplaced.Until we have all cried ourselves to ash, because mourning is now compulsory, and any enjoyment will be limited by those who aren't themselves inconvenienced.
Now get back to work.
You should show respect to the people who want to mourn and show there own respects.I understand perfectly, if you want to carry on doffing your cap that's your perogative. Try to understand the Queens death means absolutely nothing to a hell of a lot of people, hard for you to digest but true.
Glad to let them mourn and show their respect but don't impose it on all of us.You should show respect to the people who want to mourn and show there own respects.
Swallowed a wine gum ! Treasonous bar stewardI know just what he means. I was in the car when I heard and I'd just popped a Maynard's wine gum into my mouth. It just didn't seem right. But I'm sure Her Majesty wouldn't have wanted me to spit it out of the car window in the M42. I did the only thing possible. I ate it.
We can postpone one game I suppose but let's not get too soppy. As Monty Python said, She's a good Sheila and not at all stuck up.
Did you miss any live events then ?The reign of the Queen will be a massive chapter in our history, just like Victoria's was.
Only one over the last 70 years.Did you miss any live events then ?

I'm not sure what you think this one actual match report, about a game that went ahead because thousands of Spaniards were in the country, nothing to do with the English FA, proves.

The whole country isn't being shut down.the Queen was a remarkable lady who was respected and loved all over the world. It is right that her passing should be suitably marked and that those who want to mourn should be able to do. There are plenty of opportunities for people to do this and to pay their respects. She was 96 years old and it is right that she has a state funeral and service. In my view the service should be a thanks giving for her life and achievements.
Having said that I think that everyone can achieve what they want to do without the whole country being apparently shut down for 10 days or whatever. Why is it necessary to cancel all these sporting and other events? What real purpose does it serve? The Queen herself was keen on horse racing and her family support many sports. I am sure Her Majesty would have said please let my subjects continue with their normal lives as best they can and I don’t want life to stop. Let the sporting events carry on. At those events there could be a minutes silence to mark her passing. Apparently there was a dinner for 600 people at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield tonight cancelled and probably many other events all over the country. With the crisises we currently face this complete shut down is all we need.
PS I am not a republican and I am a great supporter of the Queen.
Fair enough although very predictable to be honest. Do what I do, turn the tv off and put some music on. Job done. You are right about the footy but I was making a wider reference to the excruciating, dressed only in black, vomit fest that is currently in full flow on every terrestrial channel.

Postponed is the word you are looking for.I don't think the games have been cancelled to allow people to mourn, I also think that the tagline of 'as a mark of respect', is just because that is all you can say in a situation like this.
If the EFL/EPL came out and said we've got to cancel the games because we're not allowed to go ahead with games unless we have a certain quota of police, it wouldn't come across well. But that's probably the reason.
A lot of points I agree with pal but what I will say is this we are in a terrible cost of living crisis the economy needs constant financial input the queen would with respect want this country to carry on but my opinion is give the queen the respect deserved on the Sad day of her funeral until then carry on with lifethe Queen was a remarkable lady who was respected and loved all over the world.
