I’m nearly in my 60s and have completely the opposite view, life goes on and stop trying to lump everyone into your pov.
Jesus, it’s just my opinion not a fucking edict……silly me I thought the expressing of opinions was what a forum was about so my pov is perfectly valid - as is yours. No need for the aggression mate

Well if I didn't feel sad before I definitely do now.

There's probably a whole host of reason's it's cancelled other than what the statement actually says, which will have been written to be respectful, not give a detailed description of why fixtures need to be cancelled.

First you've got Prince William being the president of the FA, the decision makers are going to consider respect to their president whether we like it or not.

Second as mentioned, Police resources will be stretched across the country, but particularly in London, they'll have made a decision partly based on public safety (whether you agree that the Police make things safer or not doesn't change the decision making process public bodies rightly have to go through)

Third there is always the chance that the Queen dying could create unrest, division and therefore trouble, crowds could be targets for those who want to make a statement, individual disagreements will lead to disorder, sections of support will make a scene and voice their opinions disrespectfully which wouldn't make great PR.

There's allsorts of reasons, I'm not happy about it but I can understand why. Also as others have said maybe ots a blessing in disguise with our injury last atm

So what's different?
(Not West ham or the fa cup, just for clarity)

We've eradicated polio since then 😁

To be honest I don't fully know. I think the floodgates of public grief were opened with the death of Princess Diana and this is a result of that. I just hope we're much more dignified about it this time round. The scenes in 1997 were fucking repellent in my opinion.

Ironically, due to some unrelated events earlier this week I have to work tomorrow so I fully endorse this decision insofar as it suits me better.

The footballing bodies are still out-of-touch tossers for doing it, but I think we can all agree that what's best for me is the most important thing right now.

Whilst clearly an unplanned event, and from my perspective I need a holiday off work now for the Rotherham game, cause that'll be a midweek..

But, you have a fantastic point, yes it's something we all didn't want, but the timing of this regarding the player situation looks very convienient the more I think about it...

Anyway, its weekend, I'm off to pay my respects by drinking for 3 days solid now there's nothing else to do..
I'm mourning in Spoons and onto my second pint to allow further reflection. Positives and negatives in this case and I'm impartial as to the decision that's been made and totally understand people's objections also.🍺

I'm not sure the floodgates of grief of the nation will warrant this. If individuals or groups wanted to mark it in whatever way they wished, they should do so, and those who want to do other stuff should also have the same respect shown.
Nobody should be slagging anybody off or imposing their opinions and wishes over anyone else.

It’s one game - I’m sure we fans can cope. Much as we all have our opinions (mine is that the games should go ahead), there’s also the possibility that some players and managers might also want to pay their respects and mourn. It’s fair to respect everyone’s individual preference and, as I say, it’s only one game.

Not buying this being good for injuries. We're top of the league, in good form and playing Rotherham at home. That's more significant. No disrespect to them but it's a game we should be up for and win regardless. We don't tend to come back well from enforced breaks. Anyway, is what it is.

Well we seem to pick up injuries every match. FYI the new training pitches should be ready next month.

That’s what she would have wanted you to do

Some people are making real sacrifices

I know just what he means. I was in the car when I heard and I'd just popped a Maynard's wine gum into my mouth. It just didn't seem right. But I'm sure Her Majesty wouldn't have wanted me to spit it out of the car window in the M42. I did the only thing possible. I ate it.

We can postpone one game I suppose but let's not get too soppy. As Monty Python said, She's a good Sheila and not at all stuck up.

Us peasants will stop mourning only when we're told to stop, and not a second earlier.

How dare you think about football at a time like this™.

Now, go and distract yourself by doing literally anything else as long as it doesn't involve football. Only football. Anything else is fine but ABSOLUTELY NOT FOOTBALL.

Well of course, but a lot of the frustration appears to misdirected. The Royal Family haven't requested for the changes to be made, the EFL decided this arbitrarily.

That's the problem with the internet. You have to be able to separate ranting idiots from people expressing an opinion, you stupid cunt ;)

I’m a bit of a royalist but can see both sides of an argument (that’s the Libra in me). We are getting our knickers in a twist over the cancellation of football for a game maybe 2. This forum and the footballing world is just a tiny part of the bigger picture and in my humble opinion we should all show a bit more respect to each other and I think you’ll find the larger majority of the nation who are deeply saddened by the Queens passing. After all this isn’t just about football.

Sometimes in life, on many levels, you just have to do or at least be seen to do the right thing. I suspect that is behind the decision by the EPL & EFL as governing bodies of what is seen as our national sport.

On a personal level you don't have to like it or agree with it and life will soon return to whatever normal you enjoy but understand and respect why certain decisions have been made in these unique, (in most of our lifetimes) circumstances.

Let's stage our own footy match in the slanty car park!

That's why Vladimir Putin locks people up for 15 years for showing dissent.
All these folk venting their spleens about the Queen, if we had Vlad. as our 'ruler' we would have no such choice, or freedom.

I sometimes think we take our freedoms for granted, far too easily.

How long will this over reaction last and when can we have our game back. Will Swansea and Preston games go as well. Absolute joke of a decision.
Apparently it's going to last till after Xmas, when there going to have a look at it again, but they've said that could be doubtful because the pattsies will want another lockdown till April, so fuck it it's finished 😏
