Yeah, Scotland (and Liverpool) could very well have issues. It's going to come though. You'd think the first game back will have at least a minutes silence.

With our injury problems I think a break in matches would be useful.

We are in form yes but our defence is thread bare right now. If we have a break we may have Sharp and a defender or two back by the time we next play.

Also what would the Queen have wanted. She was very much "the show must go on" type of person.

Can understand an immediate cancellation of events on the day of death and also on the day of funeral
but for the 1.5 weeks in between think she's prefer the country to get on with life.
At the match we can have a minutes silence and the national anthem, that would be the best tribute.

I suppose what the EFL might do is choose the middle ground, cancel everything over this weekend but play all the mid week matches.

I agree. I believe she would want us to get on with everything. She faced everything with a stiff upper lip.
Everyone will still be going to work… she’d want everyone to enjoy themselves when they can.
And yes, pay tribute at the game.
Everyone will tune into the funeral and that’s when the country should stop, pay their respects and remember all that she’s done for this country.

On reflection, I think your observation is correct and this is the right response.
 
RIP liz. Like others have said she deserves a big and respectful send off but forced mourning is not the right action in my eyes, especially 12 days of it. Its sad when anyone dies but to cancel/postpone what gives people joy and brings people together because 1 person has gone, personally i think is self indulgent from the monarchy. I hope they don’t.

im conflicted about rotherham, as fully understand why it would be postponed because protocol.

but there is something. like when Gary Speed died & alot of people bought tickets for the FA cup tie to pay their respects.

so i would keep it going, have a minute silence & then go into a rendition of the national anthem

But what purpose will it serve, regardless of how long she has been on the throne?

Should we all stop going about our business for 12 days (or whatever it is) ? We will still have to go to work, shop etc. Is loud music to be banned too?

It's just so silly.

With the international break the next game would be Birmingham on 1st October. As you say, might help to get a few players back.

You've then got 10 games until 12th November before the World Cup.

Problem we face is that if we don't get players back and then end up with 13 instead of 10 games, we may be worse off.

All depends on their view of the rescheduling.

I think there is a case to play this weekend fixtures and start a period of morning after that perhaps.

It's quite late for many to make arrangements but then again Burnley v Norwich was cancelled with less notice so you never know.

Recently someone posted that Elizabeth II's reign had not been productive for the Blades.
Maybe a fixtures backlog could unhinge what most Blades believe to be as good a chance of automatic promotion in a long while.
 



Play the games, pay respects in the stadia and get on with life is my view.
The nation shouldn’t stop because a frail 90 odd year old passed away, she had a good innings.
The world didn’t stop when my wife passed away at 43 years old last year. They were both human beings at the end of the day. 🤷🏼
Just winds me up how a privileged family has this much sway over a country.
I have no malice to them on a human level, but really, think about what this country is willing to do regarding the death of one person who passed away, well into her 90s. It’s bizzarre.
