It’s a tactic to unsettle the player and try a push a deal through probably started by the agent as well , the murky world of football transfers

It does work like that. Read Ramsdale’s comments, or the subsequent comments from Ben Foster backing him up. It’s just a job for them. If you turn down a transfer offer, where a player stands to significantly increase their income, you’re expected to offer them a better contract as compensation. They can offer him £500,000 a week if they like. Gu mental.
But if the fee isn't right for us it means absolutely piss all. The club isn't going to say "Hm...they're offering Sander a great wage, I suppose we'd better let him go". It doesn't work like that.
Which is why we’ve only been able to recruit two permanent signings and filled the club with loans, most of whom won’t be here next season. There’s a danger of going down the Chancer route of failing to trade to bring in income, but in our case we don’t have an owner who’s prepared to put large chunks of his own money in to cover his mistakes. The Prince hasn't sold a single player of note when he's been in sole control.

It’s player power, that thing people in the game have talked about for years but fans don’t seem to understand. We can force him to stay but we can’t force him to play well. After watching Lundstram amble round the pitch looking completely disinterested, how much more evidence that keeping players who don’t want to be here doesn’t work is needed, before supporters understand this?
If Berge has told Hecky he’s happy to stay and isn’t interested in going to any of the clubs that want him, fine, you can play hardball. If he wants out, then it’s a matter of getting the best deal for the club. If he doesn’t want to be here, get rid and bring in someone who does because you can have all the skill in the world but if you’re not motivated you look like those Man U players yesterday and that won’t get us promoted. A player with two thirds the talent of Berge but putting in double the effort will do more on the pitch.
Most likeliest is, Sander stays has a brilliant first half season, then bids come in January and we make a fortune.
It’s not like teams have been beating the door down to sign our players. There’s been the odd thing on Twitter that’s mostly made up just for clicks, but no real concrete offers for anyone other than Ramsdale. Can’t sell what other teams don’t want. If a team is serious about Berge then make a serious offer. His value is on the rise with every game and goal he scores if someone wants him this season.Which is why we’ve only been able to recruit two permanent signings and filled the club with loans, most of whom won’t be here next season. I can see the thinking behind it, if we don’t go up, we’re probably going to lose our best young players to PL clubs anyway, so we may as well chuck everything we can at getting promoted but I guess I don’t have the faith in Hecky that the owner has. He’s a good bloke, good coach but I’m not convinced he’s a top first team manager.

I think if someone pays his release fee you say thankyou very much we’re sorry to lose you but that’s a hell of a lot of money.Hecky speaks a lot about not wanting to lose Sander and that he just doesn't want to sell him.
I wonder if it has been considered that as teams get desperate and the transfer window close approaches, what if someone offers his release fee?
Liverpool have players missing already. Suppose another decent sized club with money to spare gets injuries.
You'd say unlikely that will be paid, but recency bias and the panic of a closing window can be awkward bed fellows.
At present we've played 3 games and he's scored 2 goals.
He's got 3 home games to come, 2 of which are against newly promoted Sunderland and a recently hammered and hapless Reading. He's then got an additional home game and Luton away.
Unlikely but if he has a purple patch and has 5 goals by the end of August, someone might just think "Hello". Let's not forget you have Forest looking at bidding up to £40m for Gibbs-White.
I think the point is if someone comes in with that then the manager and board get taken out of the equation.I think if someone pays his release fee you say thankyou very much we’re sorry to lose you but that’s a hell of a lot of money.
That kind of money you could buy 2/3 good prospects on a perm and probably build the new academy.
It was 32 degrees in all fairness. There wasn't much tempo from both teams apart from small patches & then they had a bit of momentum at the end where they could have won itGreat goal and start yesterday but if anyone was watching yesterday they will have seen how he ran out of legs and did nothing second half when he was blowing out of his arse. Teams aren't going to pay 35 million for a player that can't manage 90 minutes in the championship.
Good job you were watching then.Great goal and start yesterday but if anyone was watching yesterday they will have seen how he ran out of legs and did nothing second half when he was blowing out of his arse. that's part of the reason he should have taken the pen that Sir Norwood missed v MillwallNot saying it will. Just putting out there if his very visible goslscoring form continues and clubs start to panic, Christ, Andy Carroll went for £35m years back!
The Championship is one of the quickest, most physical leagues in the world. I watch a fair bit of European football and most leagues are noticeably slower. Not managing 90 minutes in the Championship would likely translate to being one of the fittest midfielders around in the Bundesliga.Great goal and start yesterday but if anyone was watching yesterday they will have seen how he ran out of legs and did nothing second half when he was blowing out of his arse. Plus Berge is carrying water for our entire midfield…Find it interesting how some players people will accept not playing the full 90 but others it's a stick to beat them with. We have another player who regularly comes off at 60-75 minutes
