To be fair, I seldom have a conversation about football without mentioned [checks notes] Middlesboroughs famous away support.

Do we play them away from home more than we do at home?I’m always weary of Boro, particularly away from home
Simple really you’re only professional club in North Yorkshire if you’re from Billingham, Redcar, Northallerton etc I’d suspect you’re gonna be a Boro fanExplain how we have a bigger catchment area, Sheffield is a massive city compared to Boro, and everyone around us supports the mags, or black cats to the north and Weeds to the south. As for away fans we have both got very decent away fans we travel a bit further, nowt to get worked up about.
Yes but sadly for us, a lot of North Yorkshire folk support leeds, as for Billingham, and Stockton, for that matter, it is county Durham so a fair few of those people follow Sunderland, Yes there are more Boro but there are a good dollop of them. Any further north its a Boro wilderness, you would think there would be a gradual switch, but no 2 or 3 miles out from Stockton and whack not a Boro fan in sight.. You might think that Darlo and Hartlepool we may get the none home club fans but no. Darlo is Mag central and the pools is a split between the two. So to be fair the area we hold sway is fairly small, I'm convinced there must be towns around Sheffield that have good numbers of Blades. As for the away fan comment all clubs have numpties following them ignore it and chill.Simple really you’re only professional club in North Yorkshire if you’re from Billingham, Redcar, Northallerton etc I’d suspect you’re gonna be a Boro fan. Fair do’s. There is blades and owls not in Sheffield quite a few, problem is with us is we’re pretty much central in England with Leeds, Forest, Derby even Manchester clubs not too far away. Plus our car park towns like Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster aren’t that small either but we do well to say we’ve been not great for years.Yes but sadly for us, a lot of North Yorkshire folk support leeds, as for Billingham, and Stockton, for that matter, it is county Durham so a fair few of those people follow Sunderland, Yes there are more Boro but there are a good dollop of them. So how come they only averaged 3 more away. When do we take fans that they don'tWe didn't sell out at watford and there was 700 of us there last night, we've not sold out 2300 on Sunday, they quite easily would have sold out at the lane as they did midweek last year and on other occasions.
Yep agreed, Based on his Championship record he makes diamonds out of shit.No one can ignore his past record, good or bad. As I said before, this is about Boro fans view of him. I’m not really bothered much either way. Wilder does not manage blades any more.
Just surprised at their antipathy.
You said it.....I still struggle to believe & understand that Middlesbrough is in Yorkshire. Blows my tiny little mind
There's a term for it. I forget though. Basically if you focus on the negatives you're already expecting the worst so you accept it easier when it happens. If it doesn't then you're pleasantly surprised. Why do some people always look to find the negative
Pessimistic? There's a term for it. I forget though. Basically if you focus on the negatives you're already expecting the worst so you accept it easier when it happens. If it doesn't then you're pleasantly surprised.
I'll be honest I wish I could be like that with United but with our fans - in the space of two games we've been both primed for relegation and primed for the PL.
To be fair you're right but I watched a video recently on YouTube about some new fangled term along the lines of "diasasterist" or something like that where you always expect the worst. Now I think of it, no different to pessimism really.Pessimistic?
I wouldn't want to offend "BiggerThanTheeBlades" under any circumstances. I'm a sucker for Freudian slips; it's nothing personal...I think you’ve tried to be clever, but sadly…it hasn’t worked.
Glad to hear it.I wouldn't want to offend "BiggerThanTheeBlades" under any circumstances. I'm a sucker for Freudian slips; it's nothing personal...
