We’re a tall team?

Didn’t look like it last night with Fleck, Norwood, Khadra, McAtee and Arblaster lining up, with Billy, Doyle and Osborn coming on later.

We were tall under Warnock 20 years ago though so that means we are tall forever in other fans eyes

It does sound like they have a bit of a downer on Wilder. He can’t splash millions of PL money at Boro, like he did at Bramall Lane.
Their fans expectations of him do seem more realistic to be fair.
I was looking forward to this thread, but their fans seem more negative than some of ours.

Cheers Roy, but,
1, are there any streams
2, is it on TV,
and 3, will there be a stripe in the back of the away shirt by kick off!???

Massive comparison to last season’s comments when there was a strong strand of arrogance running through them. We certainly put that to bed last season at the Lane didn’t we?

I’m always weary of Boro, particularly away from home but after last seasons game we should have them against the ropes, we do have quality but do we have the gel this early on? Debatable at the moment.

Anyhow, full house in the away end, as per, not sure what that lad is on about Boro having a better away support than us, from what I can tell we’re pretty similar and fair play to both sets of fans in this climate.
They had a half dozen or so more than us last season on their away games

Brought on by the fact that the stadiums that cater for the biggest followings happened to be their away games during their play off charge.

I'd go as far as to say our away followings in League One have been bigger than their traditional away support

Their away followings the season before last was 1300 and the season before that 1500

Any game that allows us to take a larger than average following nowadays, and you can bet your life will be on a Sunday or midweek

Yes we sorted them out last term and it must have hurt them and must have hurt Wilder to. Thats why I think we must be in the right frame of mind this time round . They will be after revenge being on the end of what I think was one of our best performances of the season .

I think it was Boro by about 3 fans above our average. You could argue we'd have been top if we'd not had all them games moved around Christmas - missed out on massive away followings to Fulham and Preston.

But we got a far higher average home attendance.

Exactly.

Where you may give Boro kudos on their away support is the further distance travelled.

I was expecting them to mention how bad their tinpot Errea shirts are. Not even a single comment about stitching

“another tall side like QPR” 🤣

“I think Sheffield United are just in another league to us anyway, their squad is what we should be aiming for”
I wouldn't take much notice of CW if was a Boro fan

“We have nowhere near the calibre of midfielders Wilder had at Sheff Utd and without Tav it lacks energy massively, doesn’t fill me full of confidence at all”
If they want to get bids in for Lowe, Stevens, Osborn, Fleck and Norwood I'm sure we'd consider them

They do realise they averaged a whopping 3 more fans than us last season based on away fans and we were top of the home rankings? They travel further but they have a bigger catchment and any excuse to leave Boro 😂⚔️

We are a tall team when put along side Hobbiton Rovers But apart from that..

Middlesbrough have better away support than the club with the largest home and away following in the division last season?

So far this season we have sold out Watford, which was a Monday night Sky fixture and brought 1750 to West Brom for a League Cup game on a Thursday night.

I can definitely see a flaw to his argument...

We didn't sell out at watford and there was 700 of us there last night, we've not sold out 2300 on Sunday, they quite easily would have sold out at the lane as they did midweek last year and on other occasions.

Concerns me how negative they are. It worries me!

Interesting how much they rate Berge. I do too. However the one that really ripped them apart in the home fixture last season was MGW. In fact I'd say that was perhaps his best performance for us, he was practically unstoppable that match.

They seem quite depressed. All them chemicals in that smog might be summat to do wiv it.

Are you taking the piss?

He got us promoted by using Basham, Sharp, Clark, Norwood, Egan and Fleck as well as assorted loans and small money signings.

Things will come good , Brewsters not far off now , teams got to gel , we need some luck , if we get it tomorrow we will win !

Touched a nerve have i? Not taking the piss at all. The comment was based on Boro supporters views anyway. He spent significant money when he was in the PL. He can’t do that now can he.

Boro aren’t in the PL so why would he have PL money to spend? He’s proven in the championship that he can get promoted without throwing loads of cash at it so I find it a bizarre point of view.

If he got them up and I supported Boro it’s at that point I’d worry.

They are shitting it but it's nice to hear some have lost faith on wilder so its not just me that can't stand the man

No one can ignore his past record, good or bad. As I said before, this is about Boro fans view of him. I’m not really bothered much either way. Wilder does not manage blades any more.
Just surprised at their antipathy.

The apathy their supporters show about matches United's managements.
It could well be very boring, but football being what it is a1-0 score line.😥
Thank you Roy.:)

Explain how we have a bigger catchment area, Sheffield is a massive city compared to Boro, and everyone around us supports the mags, or black cats to the north and Weeds to the south. As for away fans we have both got very decent away fans we travel a bit further, nowt to get worked up about.

Think the comment is based on the Boro fan who said United weren't a patch on them for away support. Agree with you though that both clubs have decent away support and both will probably be top 3 again this season
