Max Lowe

He had great statistics, the highest of any LB in the division whilst he was fit.
The Forest fans were very impressed by his performances. They should know a decent Championship player when they see one, they'd been at the level for almost 20 years.
I watched him playing for them on TV.
He got up and down the flank and attacked much better than any of our LWBs last season. He wasn't Djed Spence levels by any means but he was decent and provided an outlet.

It's night & day from the Max Lowe we've seen for us. I think he's a confidence player and that opening day at Watford has hurt him. I don't think the fans compounding it by making him the new scapegoat is going to help matters.
Surely we want him to do as well as he can here? He is capable.
I also watched a few Forest games last season and made a point of watching Lowe closely.
His performances were bang average and did nothing to change my mind on him. In my opinion we should have sold him to Forest in January, a fee and getting him off our wage bill made sense to me.

What a load of utter utter tosh

I’m not quite sure how you can form an opinion on last night as there was zero tv coverage and Rob staton is more bothered about his self than commentating on the match and he hasn’t even started a proper match in the league this season

He was ranked as the 3rd best player in the league by who scored last year out of every single player in the league that includes every defender we have , so he quite clearly isn’t tripe

The only thing that is tripe is your footballing opinions

How have we not got a player in that top ten?

Good stats for Billing that I wouldn’t have thought. I always quite liked him but there’s some good output there.

The sub appearance at Watford was arguably the worst I have seen from anyone, including his own previous. It wasn't that he looked like he didn't care, it's that he looked terrified and we have seen that look before with him. Given his form for Forest, that it vanished so quickly is a big concern. Yet.....he had over 100 games at Derby showing himself a decent player at this level. Those stats Fallowfield bought up, 4 assists in 19...probably as many as Baldrick,RND and Stevens all last season. That is what this team needs as much as anything, so I would like us to see if we can get smg out of him, I think the upside if it works is worth the gamble....and it is a bit of a gamble

The match report from Torrix1989 which I have respect for says
'Max Lowe1/10 Utter dogshit,get rid !
Forest dodged a.bullet !'
So maybe that with the Watford game performance puts him in a precarious position?

Couple of things:

We don't know that he isn't arsed.

If he was, and wanted out, I'm not sure being deliberately poor would be the best way to angle for a move?! That's how you end up on a season loan at Falkirk or sumat.

Last season he showed that he can make good runs, get into good positions, play a cross or two and be half decent in possession. I don't think we should be writing the lad off yet. Enda, for one, is on a continued decline. At least in Lowe and RND there's age on their side and room for improvement.

Watched him v closely at WBA.

Never rushed back when out of position.

Simple forward passes continuously going out of play, straight to their players or over hit with no chance our forward players could reach.

Extremely poor at blocking their crosses.

Just a few examples of his display! More subjective is my take on his body language which I also feel is shocking.

All personal opinion but I feel a considered one. BTW I don’t vent my view on him at the game for him to hear and potentially affect performance. The number I hear during and after the game sharing this view suggests I’m far from alone in these thoughts. I’d much rather he was a valuable squad member given our injury situation/record but sadly don’t feel that’s the case. Happy if he proves me and many others wrong!

That's fair and balanced report. No knee jerking, no hot air, based on observations and trying to be fair to the lad in the ground, which I respect a lot.

Execution of passes and that, I can sympathise with, and could improve with apps, body language is highly subjective as you say (what could appear disinterested may be lacking in confidence), but basics (grafting, tracking back) are an essential IMO.

The extended highlights from the WBA game did him no favours. Obviously didn't watch the game as I didn't go but it looked like he allowed the winger/full back to get unopposed crosses in time and time again.

It can be difficult for a full back in a back 4 when you're playing a diamond in midfield as you've no natural cover so it can be quite easy to be overloaded. Gordon seemed to cope with it much better.

Maybe he's had a bollocking from the coaching staff and told that he has to fight for his place

If he thought that he had a move to NF nailed on and he's got face on.

Minimum requirement in football (and in life) is work hard and people will take notice and then you get offers.

Footballer get everything too easy and are on a massive wedge, they don't know how lucky that are.

Weird thing was though he looked half decent in pre-season. He was looking like this is my place I`m going to claim it. Didnt he create one of the goals against the Portugal side ?

Work with a Derby fan, he was delighted and also amazed when we signed Lowe, they really didn't rate him at all at Derby, his comments were that he was very light weight and really poor defensively, seems about right to me

Couldn’t sleep last night so decided to watch the match video from Thursday.

Ridiculous and unfair over reaction to Max Lowe’s performance imo. He only got properly done once by that Gardner player so I don’t know why someone said he had a nightmare against him.

90% of what he did was fine and for me he looked like a proven and potentially very good player simply finding his match sharpness.

The one thing however that will stick in the mind and I think has seriously shaped people’s opinion of his performance is that absolute nightmare he had just before half time.

He goes in with a pi55 weak challenge and then (with us at full stretch to be fair) is completely done in the box. In that phase of play he looked an absolute car crash of a player.

Other than that he was fine without being particularly impactful on the game.

Gordon was the one player who seriously held the team back over the whole game, harsh because he’s young but it’s true.Khadra was also a big disappointment but he’s clearly lacking match sharpness

So when fans criticise Norwood and Fleck, calling them inconsistent and crap they get berated for being "disrespectful" to our players. But when it comes to Max Lowe then it's absolutely fine? One day I'll understand the fanhood rulebook! 😅

Him and Norrington Davies on the left is a complete horror show. We need rid of both and an adequate replacement in ASAP. Anybody hoping RND will develop enough to justify regular selection is in for a massive disappointment. He’s absolutely terrible.

Might have something to do with Norwood and Fleck earning the respect

Think that's harsh but no, he isn't good enough either

To go into what you want to be a promotion season with this crop of LWBs is shitty management

In fairness, Max has been consistent throughout his career with us.

Respect is earned and it can be lost just as quickly as it was gained. There's no place for sentiment on the pitch.

Which bit is harsh? RND is slow, technically average at best and makes poor decisions. He’s just not very good. It’s a sad reflection of our left hand side when a very much past it Enda is still the best option.

Where’s Clark today anyway?

Hecky picked the team he’s responsible for selecting Lowe today he needs bring him off asap

The absolutely terrible bit. I'm OK with him as a squad player but as a starter..... you're joking
