Heard from a source that United have requested permission for a beam-back!

I'm going to Exeter for the weekend regardless of tickets.

Whether Exeter decide to stick to their guns or not, I'm sure I'll get to watch the game in the ground.

Palace decided a few seasons ago when we went there last game of the season with a sniff of going up to the PL that it was worth their while to give us 7,000 tickets.

Bury this season saw fit to give us over half their ground 4,000 tickets.

I'm not saying we're a big club but were friendly, we come in larger numbers than most clubs at this level.

It makes a lot of sense to give us 50% of your ground if you struggle to sell much more than half.

We'll fill your hotels, eat your fine food and drink your lovely beer.

Hell even laugh at your jokes and feign interest in your town for a weekend. Shawn, have a word with your officials and tell the club we'd Iike them to sell us tickets so that all us Blades can sit/ stand together and enjoy a pleasant 90 mins at your ground

If not we'll come anyway and you'll probably get annoyed at us for cheering when you don't and sing different songs to you.

Do the right thing Exeter.

There were plenty of blades in the home end on that palace game as well.

I know of loads who have said they are going whatever. Cant see the beamback idea getting much backing unless we need it to get promoted. I think it will be sorted by the Stevenage game myself

I guess the Plod will decide in the end.

Although, if it stays at 1200 please can we have a big screen and a real ale tent in the city centre? :)

beamback and real ale tent in Exeter town centre!!!

...... I am going to start a petition ;)

The grammar nazi's appear to have left the forum. No-one's picked up on the mis-use of compliment....:)

The grammar Nazis wouldn't mind that, Highbury; it's the spelling police you should have been worried about. If the grammar Nazis were out to get you, it'd be for using "as well" and "also" in the same clause. :)

Balham = pedant.

Eh up ECFC-Shawn check this out. Rochdale have given us 3,500 for Tuesday night, only 500 of them left...

http://www.sufc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10418~2480907,00.html

Would that be the Rochdale FC with a ground capacity of 10k. Rochdale who saw their average attendence is 3k and their maximum has been 5k and decided to offer United 2 stands. Rather than having Blades fans it in the home end and empty seats everywhere, they used their noggin. They looked ar Bury and Oldham who had both offered SUFC 3-4k tickets and seen the vast majority of them sold out. They took into account the extra revenue, having all the Blades fans together and just plain common sense. The only difference is that Rochdale still have something to play for .... whereas Exeter will be dead and buried by the time the red and white army descends.

Like Swiss says, can Exeter fans please let their club know that the most sensible option is to increase our allocation?

Chaps the Rochdale game is a bit of a misnomer - they give up to 3,650 tickets to away fans as a matter of course: they're all in one side of the ground which can be given wholly to visitors or split between visitors and home fans.

None of this changes the fact that it makes sense for Exeter to give us a bigger allocation but it's more hassle for them.

That said, if Bury can do it...

I have just written to Exteter FC. It will probably not make the blindest bit of difference, but I have tried. I think it is worthwhile politely asking them. If enough of us do it, then they might take it into consideration. I would encourage others that are worried and planning to trale down to do so. My e-mail was as follows:

Dear Sir/Madam.

As a Sheffield United fan planning to travel to Exeter for the final game of the season I wanted to contact you with a plea to at least consider increasing our allocation.

I realise that this puts Exeter FC in a difficult position and there are other influences (such as the police). However I feel that it would be the best result all round if Exeter FC were to give SUFC 2 stands and increase our allocation to 3k plus. I understand the usual allocation is 1’200, but as the clubs average attendance has been around 4.5k this season and your maximum 6k (with the capacity almost 9k), then I wondered if you would consider giving more tickets to SUFC? I feel that it would be a shame to have empty seats or worse still many Sheffield United fans in the home end. SUFC have taken over 3k to Bury and Rochdale this season and will be taking more to Rochdale on Tuesday. We have a history of taking large crowds to crucial games (7k to Palace, 10k to Leicester and Darlington etc on the last games of the season when promotion was a possibility). It would be great if we could all sit together on this occasion.

Sheffield United is a family club and we are a well behaved set of supporters. There are a large number of Blades fans planning to come down and spend the weekend in Exeter. We plan to come and enjoy ourselves and hope to watch some football. The latter may be made more difficult if we only get the usual allocation. I am sure many Blades fans would go against advice and get tickets for the home end (regardless of an all ticket approach) should we not get enough tickets. However, I hope it will not come to that. I am asking Exeter FC, on the behalf of thousands of SUFC fans, to increase our allocation. It would be great if we could come down and enjoy your city, visit your well run family club and really enjoy a cracking atmosphere and some football. Surely the best way of doing that is by giving SUFC more tickets.

I realise that there are other complications. The game could be crucial to Exeter FC and I suspect that this is delaying an announcement. However, in the unfortunate event that Exeter are likely to have nothing to play for I hope they take a pragmatic approach. I know there is also the police issue, but this is out of your hands. I would suggest that it might be easier for the police to deal with 3.5k jovial Sheffielders all together, rather than thousands sporadically placed in the home end or walking round Exeter because they cannot get in.

I would be grateful if you could pass on my plea/concern/suggestion to the appropriate parties. Many thanks for your understanding. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,
Oliver.

If the game isnt all ticket, then you will get in the home ends really easy, just que and get in. Whereas if the game is all ticket, youll have to be known by the database i.e. Bought tickets for a home game before. So if thee club decide to do that, your f*cked. The away end is tiny, so bring a chair to stand on, or there is a row of houses behind the away end which the windows and roofs get filled with 'fans' who dont want to pay as seen on footballgroundguide.co.uk So you could ask kindly to sit on the roof.

We had the same situation with huddersfield a couple seasons back, them on the verge of autos and asking for more tickets, but we had something to play for, so they got 1200, with loads outside, if were down, i dont see why not.

Nice one. Cheers for the heads up.

I'm sure the Leyton Orient and Wallsall attendances will be bumped up a little then....

Thats if the game is all ticket and you wont get in away end. Cause youll be known to database. Could risk it and garantuee yourself ib home end by buying an orient ticket. But thats up to you

I can get a cherry picker or a scissor lift from down there which should go high enough to see the game over the stands, pretty cheap too if a few people chip in. Can also drink and smoke to our hearts content up there :)

Ted, is there room for me, Swiss and Blade in Thatcham ..... and a shit load of real ale?? :-)

By the sounds of it I might be able to get a few of them, think you can fit about 10 on a scissor lift so just need to confirm some prices and find out if there's a good spot for them. Could also hang a few banners from them too. Would be a few spare places going if I can get them.

Anyone know the legalities of doing something like this? Is the worst I could expect a parking ticket?

I remember years ago being a corporate guest at Donny Races, it was an open top bus with bar on lower deck and viewing seats on upper, sounds ideal.

The only place you could put it is behind the away end. On a path. Il put a picture up of the road, to show you where youbwould have to put it.
