Dean Henderson against Man U return

It used to piss me off how much he banged on about Man U and being their no.1 when he was at BDTBL, looks like he's still at it.
I get that, and there's a lack of respect there for the club that's 'hosting' him until his dream happens, but there's got to be some realism here for him. He needs to sign permanently with someone else, he isn't going to be Man Uniteds No 1. Ever. They'd rather sign someone for 80m than blood their own these days.

His biggest mistake (and ours) was not realising this 2 years ago when he went back to them. He was happy here and maybe we wouldn't have gone down had he stayed, who knows.

De Gea was dodgy for two years. Unfortunately for Hendo he was back in top form last year. What he says about Ole doesn't surprise me: spine of a jellyfish.

its seems that way. that he promises the world to players, & agrees to all these demands. then ignores when it comes to it. wouldn't surprise me if he told de gea he was his no1 as well & lingard turned down west ham im guessing after hugely impressive loan spell. because of similar unfulfilled promises

His contract will stop him moving permanently unless he has a stormer this year forest stay up and he gets his england shirt back

Not sure (even) OGS would have promised Lingard he would be first choice keeper
Or have I misunderstood?

Wait till he goes back to Leeds and he’s heading towards the Leeds fans end , he’s gona wish he was still on the bench at manure !

Fuck him, he’ll never be Man Utd’s #1 as much as he wants it.

He loves that sort of stuff and thrives on it. You only have to look at how he pissed them off after receiving abuse off them all game when we played them. I think Forest will stay up comfortably and Henderson will be their best signing.

Hendo made the biggest mistake of his life when he signed that deal with Man U he was never going to be number 1 while they were paying another bloke £1m per month. He should have moved elsewhere to be #1 keeper, no good crying that he has lost a year or so of his career. To think fucking Ramsdale is ahead of him now there is a lot to be said for getting game time in rather than being well paid to sit on your arse. I doubt he will ever be the top keeper at Man Utd now, silly lad. The few games he has played have been littered with errors it could be a bumpy ride to start with at Forest.

I prefer the scenario where Forest are relegated with the worst record ever and Deano reflects that his time at the Lane with fans that really appreciated him was the best of times.

With hindsight, he went back a year early and should've stayed with us. His career trajectory was flying.

I've never seen the lad as anything but driven, ambitious, self-assured and able to back it up. Something all the greats have. It's a shame his career has stalled.

He'll be a lot busier this year, and they'll be a lot less solid than we were defensively. In a weird way, I hope they get battered and relegated easily, with him somehow also reigniting his reputation.

I’ll piss myself at every mistake he makes. Fuck loan players, they’re just holiday flings, even MGW. I genuinely don’t give a fuck what happens to them once they go back to their parent club.

Bit harsh, IMO. Both gave their all whilst here, were model professionals, fully bought into the SUFC way of life, are amongst the best loanees we've ever had and in terms of attitude and application deserve to go to the top. I know they were never destined to sign for us permanently, but I'll wish them well.

Lets hope so.

i agree it wouldve been tough as de gea was very good. but i guess when you have personal assurances from the manager. what can you do but have to trust manager
To be fair, at the time ole said that he probably fully intended that Henderson would be his first choice. Unfortunately he got long covid and De Gea re established himself whilst he was out and ended up having a stellar season, you can’t really fault the manager for not dropping him. It was just bad luck on Henderson’s part that he picked up Covid when he did. It happens.

I really like Hendo, I admire his confidence and like his personality. I don’t think he’s come across particularly well in this interview though. Poorly advised, in my opinion, he should show more respect for the club who are paying him. He knew the deal when he signed his new contract at Man U, they had one of the best keepers’ in the world who is paid an absolute fortune. If he wanted guarantees over his first team place, he was never going to get that at MU.

Yeah, I don’t hate them or anything but I’d like to see Forest relegated and so I won’t want Hendo to do well. With MGW, he was fantastic and I’d rather him do well than not but I just don’t get as attached to loan players as I do someone like Basham or a player who’s come through the academy.

OK, since seeing the comments from McAtee about what MGW said, he’s just gone up further in my estimation.

Must have been a struggle at Manure on £130,000 a week.
