Teams that go up take a point from that game.

Defended sufficiently first half.

Don't do anything stupid and your points tally is off an running.

Then rather than making sensible decisions, we use a low percentage corner routine when 8/11 of the team are in the opposition box and gift a straightforward goal away, handing an immediate 3 point leg up to a potential rival. It wasn't even a risk reward thing. You're passing to a guy in a position that favours his wrong foot who averages about a goal a season. Why would that ever work?

A point was there for the taking but two of our more experienced players screwed it up.

So rather than being off and running we're now 3 behind and playing catch up to a rival when this needn't have been the case.

Totally agree with that.

When they were breaking on us I could see that fuck up of a goal coming from a mile away as we fell around, missed chances to clear, didnt pick up players etc etc as per usual. It was a real United fuck up goal to concede even after the brain fart of the corner kick routine. See how many players we have back and how they all congregate in the middle together without anyone having the thought to get closer to the lad at the back stick who tucks it away. Like watching a gaggle of geese waddling out of their pen in a morning into the yard.

Still early days.

And that's how it looked. It felt very 'first day of the season' Sheff Utd. I think there were some encouraging signs, unlike most years.

Watford looked the better side because they had Sarr & Dennis who are too good for the division. Hopefully they're gone by the end of the window. Outside of those two, there was very little in it.

I think we'll be OK, IF we can avoid all of these injuries we keep getting and bring a few more in (RWB, DM, AM, CF).

And if that came off, you'd have been loving it like the rest of us and praising the training routine. Also, we've just played arguably the strongest team in the league, away, with multiple injuries and a late change of personnel in Ahmedhodzic, it's the first game of the season and top 6 rivals have dropped points to far worse teams than Watford.

It was concerning based on 90 minutes - miles off. But think WBA last season (a zillion miles off) and we were nearly promoted.

It’s the forward line that will let us down this season, I fear.

Is this the same Ciaran Clark who's been here about 5 minutes and played one competitive game, out of position?

I'm thinking of the one who's been comprehensively fucking wank for Aston Villa, Newcastle United and the Republic of Ireland. If yours is a different one then I apologise.

The shock probably would have got me before anything else!

A few more in ?

How are they the strongest team in the division? Think you'll find we'll come up against a lot of teams with pace in a few positions and we'll be too slow in key areas.

Did you notice the part where I put arguably? Yeah, means it's up for debate but in my opinion, they are one of the strongest teams in the division.

Mad overreaction to the first game of the season.
As a performance it was poor lack of intensity nil attacking threat and no mobility in midfield and we couldn’t string passes together out muscled our thought all over the pitch bar Ndiaye so as far a this game goes I reckon the frustration for this game is justified

Can't remember the exact number, 5 games was it? We lost last season at the start and we damn near ended up in the play off final and some might even say we should have ended up in the final.

Relax yourself for now. Let them all gel a bit and see if they improve over the next couple of games, though I agree about the extended preseason, would be nice to start off on the front foot.

Dennis and Sarr can fuck off though, looked very sharp those two. Regret to say I enjoyed seeing Dennis quick turn and runs to get round players.

Fleck and Norwood were good four years ago but have needed replacing for a good three years now. I can't believe we are still going with these two in midfield when the likes of West Brom pick up quality like Swift on free transfers, why don't we ever get players in like that? Instead we get duffers like Clark, the Newcastle fans were right his level is League one he is that slow. We are following on from last season injury wise I've never known anything like it half the squad out or not fully fit on the opening day. Those that are on the field look like they are running in treacle they are that slow compared to Watford who by the way don't look much of a team other than they have fast forwards. You can see it after one game this team is never going to get promotion with the current players. You have to start asking questions of the coaching and medical staff because fitness wise we looked slow, weak and clueless compared to a pretty average Watford team. It looks like being a long hard season. :(

It just reminded me of our PL relegation season.

No pace at the back, no bite or creativity in midfield and no threat whatsoever going forward.

Yes, it’s just the first game of the season but the old faults are sadly still glaringly obvious.

We’ve needed a couple of beasts at CDM for at least three years but we’re still playing Norwood and Fleck…until we sort that out signing more no10s won’t make a scrap of difference.

We are good at being negative and losing, and that's not always a good way to get promoted

Games like tonight's can't be regular things

All depends who the next manager is I guess

But it was a regular thing last season away from home. Yes it was a relegated side but I saw little improvement from our slow, pedestrian performances from last season.

If its not changing after a whole pre-season, I’m convinced this low-intensity football is here to stay. Buckle up because its going to be fucking boring.
