That's why we don't go up

Spitting your dummy out about people being caught spitting their dummy out is a new one for 2022.

Surely you’ve got to step back and chuckle where the thread got very silly? :)

Go back to post #83 and when you've understood it perhaps you can join in with the conversation of adults.

And once again the fuckin idiots who don't bother to read the posts of other posters properly are back after eating their Sunday lunch.

Maybe, just maybe, the crux of the conversation and the source of irritation of many on the 2 August wasn't about United being out of the promotion race after one game, but was actually about United turning up once again for the first game of a season and being woeful. Still, you some people you just can't reach. Let them enjoy their said old 'i told thi so' bollox. Makes them feel all knowledgeable and smug and all very excited. Laughable.
Waaait a minute.

The OP stated that clubs who go up, take a point from matches like the trip to Watford. The implication being that those who don't... don't.

We had a poor start to the season. It was fine to point that out. We were abject and it was understandable that people were disappointed with the performance.

It was also understandable that other posters were eager to point out that it was one fucking game and it was indicative of sod all.

We're only 5 games in, and like that first game meaning little in the long stretch, our current position doesn't mean all that much either. But it's lovely to be up there and there's plenty of reason to be optimistic.

It's not surprising that the more hopeful individuals are rushing back into the thread swinging dick to point out that the performance against Watford can reasonably be assumed to be an off day (of which there will be plenty more before the end of the season).

I've just had a look at the championship Xg table, god knows why, and we're 3rd behind Norwich and west brom, away we have an expected Xg of 1.78, to put that in context Preston's Xg is 1.79 and they've only scored 1 goal home and away all season. What this proves, I have no idea, what I take from it is that its bollocks and proves nothing

This thread was horrendously premature, as the same thread would be if you think we’re already up.

Norwich had a poor first few games, a couple of wins and they’re back up there. League positions after 5 games means nothing, I’d probably say it will take a stronger shape after 15-20 games.

Look where we were prior to beating reading away last season.

The huge break in the middle of the season will also make a big difference and teams could lose momentum, form, and then players in Jan.
We just need to put ourselves in the best position we can and see what comes but nothing is guaranteed even if we’re 5-10 point clear come mid November or the same margin off the pace. It’s going to be a long, weird and unprecedented season.
