Thoughts on the kit?

That's a rather interesting claim coming from someone who thinks this is a valid sentence;
Apologies for missing the word ‘company’ out of a sentence. Typing on one hand whilst getting a baby to sleep proved a bit difficult for me.

Ah brilliant, you and the baby can learn about object permanence together...

I’ll work on it when he wakes up 👍🏼

You let me know how we’re going to make money from shirts when they aren’t in the club shop as your homework.

We're going to make money from shirts when they're not available in the club shop because normally most of the money from kit sales comes as an upfront fee paid by the manufacturer to the club before the kit is on sale, the club then take a small % from each individual sale with the majority of sales revenue going to the manufacturer.

Also curious how much you think the club actually make from shirt sales?

How do you think the profits we get from shirt sales compares to the money we receive from TV rights, sponsorships, advertising, ticket sales, etc.

In the grand scheme of things the money the club make from shirt sales is fairly insignificant, the sponser on the front of the shirt probably brings in more money than shirt sales.

Not long ago it was reported that we sold around 40k shirts per season, say a shirt is £55, that's £2.2m. If we receive say 15% you're looking at about 300k a year from shirt sales, would that even cover one player's yearly salary?

Of course it's good to have the income from sales, but a few 1000 people not buying the kit because it was late isn't going to bankrupt the club is it...

Can I borrow it, bit of a fat cunt in my old age, with a mini heatwave coming I might get down to XL won’t help with being a cunt though
You could if I still had it. I lent it to Steve Houghton when he was at Radio Sheffield and he moved to a station down south and I never saw it again. I think he works for MOTD now as an editor or something.

Thanks, some good points made and yes it clearly won’t be our biggest generator of income this season and I’m aware of the up front model and small % payment on actual kit sales.

My main point that has got a bit lost in poor semantics on my part and questions on whether I’ve developed some of the skills I should have developed as an infant (happy to share my academic qualifications via PM if it puts your mind at rest!) is that it’s better to have the kits for sale than not having the kits for sale and that it’s pretty stupid commercially (from a sales angle and perception angle) that we haven’t got this sorted as yet.

It might lead to pent up demand and we might sell double the amount of kits as a normal season, but I highly doubt it.

I don’t think I’m being overly critical in suggesting that the club should have moved a bit quicker on this issue, but some people clearly think I am.

Socks should be white, collar looks a bit bland and wide but all in all, it’s a solid effort…happy with it

Agree. The collar and cuffs certainly wouldn't have been bland if they had replicated them with the red and white trim that's on the bottom of the shorts which would've given a fabulous match. Another slight improvement could've had the Errea logo all in a black outline and then you're getting a Blades shirt that probably can't ever be topped I'd say.

Two things for me:

How do you see black letters and numbers on a stripey back that includes black pinstripes from a distance?

The Errea logo looks odd white.

Other than that I love it.
Very simple design. I think that is what makes it perfect for Sheff United. It reminds me of an early Le Coq kit we had. Or was it Patrick?

The socks with the Blades on them though, that is "bespoke" enough for me 😆
Plenty of Le Coqs, all o'er this thread 😉

This kit has really confused me. On the one hand I love it. Has all the elements I really like. Simple, clean, just enough black on too. So yeah, really love it, however, also feels like I wouldn't be suprised to see it at an amateur game because it is so simple.

So, in summary, I love-hate it and will be buying it (some day).

As an aside, having ultimate champions sponsoring on the shirt feels like a massive own goal waiting to happen.
You've summed that you perfectly for me. It confuses the fuck out of me. Perfect in that it ticks so many boxes that I bang on about, each year. Far more, than say our worst ever kit (the second Prem season fucking shit show).

Yet, somehow it also feels like it falls short?! 🤷🏼‍♂️ I still maintain, I'll need to see the quality up close, and the price, to know if it's worth it. Ainsley Harriott said they should knock sumat off of chuck sumat in for free given the delays. I agree, but I also suggest an Errea kit shouldn't be starting in the same price bracket as an Adidas one...

Don’t sign something that stops you from ordering a new kit then. It’s pretty simple. Put a contingency in place!

There are a lot of inconsistencies in the story though, Abdullah says that after the play off loss the takeover was effectively dead in the water, so on that day you crack on and run the business sensibly as if you’re going to continue being the owner. Presumably at that point we’d had numerous months working on the kits because apparently they were 10 months down the line when the deal was signed (per Bettis).

Still away and 3rd kit still missing.

Lots of bullshit going on.
Fucking loads and loads of bullshitting.

I vote we forfeit tonight's game and any subsequent games until a kit design is produced which we all approve of.
That's going to take a lot.of discussion though.

One giant debate.

Let's all have a mass debate.

I don't want to pick holes in it, and I really like the kit, but rubberised would look so much better
