Let's not forget Tony Agana. 139 (15) appearances 52 goals

Or, if you count just league goals: 105 (13) appearances, 42 goals.

Deane's league tally was 221 (2) appearances 93 goals

Yeah but Deane last scored for us in 1998, Agana in 1991.

So these three are the highest scoring since Deane.

I presume BT's stats are including his current stint?

Yes.

His original stint was 34 in 62.

Ched Evans is a good striker but I'd do anything to have Brian Deane and Tony Agana again. Deane was almost 1 in 2 (he definitely was 1 in 2 in the lower leagues, top flight stats skew it a little) and Agana chipped in with 1 in 3. Add to that that Agana supplied a lot of the bullets for Deano and you have the perfect partnership. Could you imagine those two in this team? How would they do with McDonald behind them and Lowton from full back? They'd run riot (again). Everybody loved Deano but Agana was always my favourite as Deane wouldn't have got as many without him.

Can anyone remember the 'Bibbety Bobbity Boo' song? I was only 9/10 at the time. What were the full words?

Just won a supposed no chance game 5-2 away, we attempt to celebrate evans reaching a milestone tally and you get 'yeah but in a lower league' etc.... fking unitedites

I think it was:

Brian Deane and Tony Agana
Bibbety Bobbity Boo
Put 'em together and what have you got?
Top of Division 2!

though I don't remember it myself.

Goals is goals. Doesn't matter how and when you score them. Without Evans we'd be fucked, even at this supposedly lowly level.

As said elsewhere, its some achievement. Nathan Blake was severely under rated by our fans at the time and since. He was bloody awesome.

Evans's overall haul of 27 for the year is the most I think I've seen any United player score in one season. Who was the last to match that before now?

Keith Edwards in 1983/1984. He scored 34.

That was league goals only. He got 42 if you include cup games.

There are 2 players who have scored as many more recently: Deane and Agana both scored 30 goals in all competitions in 1988-9.

I think that's 21 league goals for Evans with 8 games to go. 20+ league goals in a season since Edwards' 34 goals in 1984:

1984 Colin Morris 20
1986 Keith Edwards 20 (in 32 games!)
1989 Tony Agana 24
1989 Brian Deane 22
1990 Brian Deane 21
2008 James Beattie 22
2012 Ched Evans 21 and counting

Yeah Evans will probably end up scoring more than 24 so he'll be the highest since Edwards.

Evans is starting to become a bit of a hero, probably proving all of us wrong in the process.

That was it though my cousin used to say that it was originally Harry Haslam and Danny Bergara and shit on the end of your shoe.

It was. But that was the Wednesday version.

Incidentally I think that last night was the first time we had five different scorers in a game since we won 5-2 at Forest on 1/2/92 - Lake, Gannon, Bryson, Bradshaw and Deane scored then.

And the yang to your ying was your early comments about Wilson, in which you are wider of the mark than Susan Boyles knickers.

Not so fast Bladesway, We haven't got promotion yet and there is still the little matter of how we will cope in the Championship if we do.

But that said, my comments based on his performance to date, were wide of the mark*

*with the possible exceptions of his substitutions

Nope, we beat Bradford 5-0 in November 2002.

Well spotted!

So it was the last time since 1992 where we had five seperate scorers in a game and one of the goals was not a pen (as Brown's was in 2002) :-)

5 different players scored in the 6-0 win over Spurs in March 1993, though one was an own goal...

Ah, but you forget, none of Evans's goals count because they've all been scored against rubbish opposition.:)

Is 5 the most goalscorers that we have ever had in a game or did we manage 6 in any of those 10-0 and 11-2 wins in pre-war days?
