Projected my arse, stats, Blades 2 points above and a superior goal difference. Calm down

To true. Pigs must now be favourites Blades P6 W2 D1 L3 Pigs P6 W3 D1 L2. Projected Blades 81 Pigs 84

Yet we are still above them. Win our remaining games and we are up.

KEEP THE FAITH

what a chance we had to nail promotion.

We get the chances often enough to seal promotion we very rarely take them.

Seriously barely ruffled the feathers of Colchester 2nd half.

No idea why when we could of got more goals in the first half.

Typical really.

Was it BDM mk 2 ? Previously majestic form now patchy and vice versa ?

How can they have a higher projected points total if we are above them?
Blades average = 1.17/game, piglets 1.67/game, x 10 = 12/17 less 2 pts advantage now = 3 points wordse off at end of season.

Now the rationale.

We have Tranmere at home saturday who are a bit resurgent at the moment, the big issue is County, who are also doing well. If Pigs win and we don't it will be erm a massive result for them. Also as we have them a few days later I'd be surprised if they lost twice in a row, so its gonna be tough guys I am afraid. Was rerally hoping for a late Blades winner tonight, so a tad pissed off.

weve got a point at the team who are 3rd in the last 8 form table

whats the problem
win at home draw away,
lest we forget wednesdays got 1 point from their last 3 away

Last 6 games United 4 away 2 home Wendy 3 home 3 away your form guide needs to take this into account..

like the pigs will win all their games?? i'll take a tenner with anyone on here who thinks that wednesday will win all of their last ten games

The thread title hits the nail well and truly on the head.

We've gone from a position where we had the chance to have a massive lead to a position where, on current form, theres a good chance that we'll lose out on 2nd.

It's ok saying we should be back to full strength on Saturday and we should win, the fact of the matter is, we shouldn't be in that position. For us to now have played our 2 games in hand and now only be 2 points clear simply is not good enough. Sorry, but it just isn't. The pressure is now well and truly on and we all know how we cope under pressure.

I wish you'd all stop panicing and worrying about other teams.

This is a crap horrible league, lets do our best to cheer the lads on and help the team get out of it.

amen mate..
the pressure is NOT on.. we have the higher points total.. the pressure comes from people on the kop moaning and panicking like a bunch of wankers..
apologies. this is really doing my head in.. see 'alternative thread'

This is just like when Leeds caught us up and beat us to promotion after they pulled within reach of 2nd in 2006...

Blades average = 1.17/game, piglets 1.67/game, x 10 = 12/17 less 2 pts advantage now = 3 points wordse off at end of season.

What is that nonsense?

We are above them having played the same amount of games so our projected points total must be more than theirs.

You can't just pick and choose matches.

The two games in hand we actually got 4 pointd...so no we didn't balls that us. |We've had a blip in form. Before that we won 11 out of 13 (i think)...that was never going to continue especially when we lost our entire back form in one game.

4 points in last two games is 2 points per game. Projected is therefore 89 points(it is amazing what you can do with stats :-))...the pigs may get more than this but that will be down to their good form and not us bottling it.

Talk about over reaction

Got say that I think the team that hits 90 points will go up. Instead of thinking that will be us now it's 'I hope thats us'

Agree with sentiment of OP, although we got into that position thanks to Wendy losing 3 on the trot and our run of 11 in 13. Very unlikely that both of those runs were going to continue but our return since Kmac got injured is not really promotion form and we aint going up unless we get him and Collins back and Evans stays fit and a free man. Flip side is we 2 great L1 players to come back and should improve whereas Wendy cannot keep winning but we did have the chance to stay well clear rather than enter what looks like a desperate battle.

Hardly news to us but if we fail to go up the Oldham game will haunt me for a long time. Last night's point would have been excellent had we won that game I suppose.

Nail on head.

2-0 up against Oldham, all 11 men on the pitch, with a trip to Walsall to come, we should have closed out at least 4 points from the 2 games.

As it is we managed to lose against oldham, get half our back 4 suspended, and consequently (and it is as a direct consequence) ship 3 soft goals at Walsall.

we get 4 ponts from those 2 games, and we're 6 ahead, as it it we are only 2 ahead and Saturday is a "must win", and Tuesday is a "must match Wednesdays result against County"...and even if we do that, we may be third by the time we play Chezzie...

would much rather better their result myself

90 points will not be needed.

If we generously allow the Pigs and Huddersfield two points per game [and neither have achieved that so far] for the rest of the season, we end up with Pigs 87 and Huddersfield 86. I don't think either will achieve that. It will involve a substantial improvement in results by both. If they do, however, 87 will do it for us, given our goal difference.

At most, we shall need 18 points from 10 games. Feel better, now?

What we'd rather happen is obviously we win and they lose. But in terms of where we are, we cannot afford to drop points in comparison to Wednesday over the next 2 games.

If we beat Tranmere, in order to acheive the above, we simply have to match Wednesdays result when we play County. If we do that the worst position we wil be in is in Second, 2 points Clear...
