DM/CM
CAM (If I'm greedy)
ST

Not convinced on Couilbaly, Fleck, Osborn and Norwood for the CM spot and Doyles already injured so I see this as a weak spot as per.

If Berge and N'Diaye stay then the CAM position maybe alright as they're quality for this league.

ST is needed with McBurnie and Sharp out till 2027 and only Brewster fit. We need Osula and Jebbison out on loan at league 1 clubs for the FULL season.

Forwards. We need something up top. Out and out striker/goalscorer (Grabban being an example of the kind I mean). Khedra would be a very very good signing. But I think the rest of our signings need to be top end of the pitch. As much as there is confidence in Brewster this season from many (I need to see more personally), I don't think he's enough to be our main man. Sharp is 36. McBurnie will be injured again. Jury is out on Jebbo and Osula (I favour the latter). So yeah, top end needs prioritising from this point.

We need a striker, maybe two, but definitely one in the, dare I say this, the Mousset mould, by that I mean big, fast and with an eye for goal (obviously) rather than a pizza or burger.
e.g. Keinan Davis

Osula will do ok, but Jebbison just isn't as ready as I would have hoped for.
We're asking a lot of Brewster to carry the load on his own albeit with Ndiaye playing with him.
Billy looks to be out long term and McBurnie doesn't count.

A keeper so that we actually have one to play in net v Watford

A midfielder to replace the one we signed who few seem to acknowledge is injured

A number 9 given Billy is still nowhere near to being back

I like Hecky, but he’s as reliable as a Tory politician when giving the true extent of our injured players.

But but but I thought McBurnie was out number 9? 🤔

CF for sure

Very possibly a keeper

Attacking mid obvs but we seem quite far down the road on that

CM is difficult. If Doyle isn't fit then I'm not confident relying on a combination of Fleck/Osborn/Coulibaly. Wouldn't ever play Berge with Norwood

I think FIFA need to step in on Barcelona and their extravagant spending. Never known such a blatant disregard of financial fair play.

Sorry just had to get that out there.

On the mighty Blades we really need a experienced striker. On mids I think we have have a good mixture of youth and experience but need to find the perfect balance

We have good depth in defence.

I reckon if Hecky can get them all playing we could finish top 6 easy.

As much as i'd love to see Berge play in his strongest position, which would be a more attacking role... CW and PH never let him play in that role. So we do need an out and out CAM

Forest wanted to keep Grabban but he has turned down their offer. Surely there is no chance of him choosing us if he has turned down Premiership wages ?
Unless no one comes in for him and he is desperate !!

I wasn't aware that all Premier League clubs were mandated to pay every single player on their books more than the highest wages any non-Premier League team is paying

He might want games. Forest need better and can do better. They might not have offered him an increase? I'm not privy to those details.

We desperately need a physical midfielder to get about the pitch, win the ball and play it simple. Dare I say it - a Lundstram type.

True, but a club bankrolled like Forest must be offering decent wages and more than us, otherwise he would have stayed with them.

Maybe he's the rare sort of player that isn't a mercenary twat and actually wants to play at this stage in his career

Desperate need of a CAM, it's not being greedy.
I'd probably say Khadra and another but can't see it.

Assuming he has recovered from his injury he probably would have played most matches. Forest are now looking for a replacement.
If you are right then he would be looking at the Championship !!!!

Even if Barca find a way by selling the family silver, I don’t see why they should be allowed to recruit new players whilst still owing the current ones vast sums in back wages they set aside through covid.

It’s morally and financially wrong.

Some sort of addition in midfield or attack depending on where certain players will play and whether we play 2 up top or 1.

If we get Khadra then I’m relatively relaxed at where the squad is. It will only improve as players come back from injury.

If we are to realistically compete for a top 6 finish we need:
CF with a proven goal scoring record at this level
CM/DM to provide some backbone in midfield
CH to play with Clark & Anel/Bash
UTB & FTP

Taking it by position:-

GK: Fodders, Davies, Amissah. PH happy to go with Amissah on the bench until Davies fit, and I'm sure we'll have an emergency GK lined up if necessary.

RWB: Baldock, Bogle. Leaves us a bit short until Bogle is fit. Worst case scenario Oz can fit in there. Will be one of our strongest positions once Bogle is back.
LWB: Lowe, RND, Stevens. Fine here. I still wouldn't be surprised if we cash in on Lowe.
CB: Egan, Bash, Anel, JLT, Clark. 3 from those 5 looks very strong indeed. Gordon I imagine will go out on loan once the crazy August fixture list is seen through.

CM: Norwood, Fleck, Doyle, Couliably, Arblaster. Doyle injured is frustrating, but I imagine he'll be challenging for Fleck's shirt when fit. Norwood will play most games I imagine. Ideally, I'd be looking to get a CM in on a perm (I've been saying so since Summer '20), but hopefully one of Couliably or Arblaster can step up.

CAM: Berge, N'Diaye, Khadra (?). If Khadra joins, then we've got 3 players to fill the 2 CAM positions (I'm including N'Diaye here, rather than the forwards). If Berge leaves, we'll need someone else to play in his position, or the 10.

CF: Brewster, Sharp, McB, Jebbison, Osula. I think we'll mostly play 1 + N'Diaye, but there'll be times we start with 2 as well I imagine. I think you've got to write off McB at this stage, and Brewster/Sharp have both had injury issues in recent months. I think we need one more here, Davies ideal but probably out of reach. Getting one in means one or both of the youngsters can head on loan as well.

Overall then, we need 1 CF, maybe 1 CM, and another CAM if Berge goes (and assuming Khadra signs). In my humble opinion, of course...

That sums it up pretty well and is also as I see it, Bash can also fill in at RWB if required

I reckon it's all up in the air now - we've gone as far as we can go , until we know whether Berge is going.
Very difficult situation for the club.
Either we get £20m & £35kpa off the wage bill (and a big hole in mf) ... or we don't.
And who can say when an offer might land ?
And Doyle is already injured.
I will take my hat off to the club if we manage to recruit an attacking mf & a striker without knowing whether we'll have Berge or the cash his sale might generate before September
