Thoughts on the kit?

It seems like it's just me that thinks that a good sponsor is the finishing touch on a kit. Kits without a sponsor just look like they're missing something to me.

One of my favourite ever shirts, the navy sash away shirt, looks so good with the basic white Laver sponsor across it. And the same with Teletext Holidays on the home kit the other season, Wards on the 'Marcelo kit'.

They all, to me, wouldn't have looked as good without the sponsor.

But then, on the other side of the argument there are Midas Games and John Holland...

Why are you assuming I'm worked up?

I'm just curious as to why we are playing friendlies in a spare kit.
Sorry, I know I'd quoted you there, wasn't suggesting you were worked up just the tone of the thread seems to have become a bit over-dramatic, when the kit will be coming in due course.

No worries, I do kind of get what you mean.

Unless one of the shirts lends itself to the leisure desires of a 52 year old man, I won't be buying one so from that perspective I'm not bothered.

My angle was more the whole playing friendlies in the kit that has been used so far. If that's going to be the third kit then fine. I dunno, seeing new kits in friendlies and new signings, it gives a bit of hope if you know what I'm saying.

I'm quite OK with the signings so far, just a tad less ok with the kit thing.

In the grand scheme of things, it is what it is

Over dramatic! Bit harsh. It's a new kit and it's taking ages, if they dont reveal soon I'm literally going to die!

In all honesty though they could at least just say "this is what its going to look like - available soon"

I think all those who are moaning about people moaning need to realise that the ability to get a kit designed, produced and on sale for pre-season each year is a pretty fundamental requirement of a football club and that in failing to do so it says a lot about the inadequacies of the administration at the club. It's not all about whether people can wear it with their St George's flag swim shorts on Benidorm beach.

Not sure whether it's the club or Errea. Most likely a bit of both.

Part of me wants to say there are supply chain issues. People with experience on both sides of the deal will have dealt with things when the supply chain was less squeezed, which will impact on timescales.

But then the other part me sees lots of other clubs launching theirs with minimum fuss. Surely they are subject to the same supply chain issues?

Whether it's on Errea's side or not, the club have signed up with Errea, presumably there's a contract with timescales in place. If they aren't meeting them or don't have enough red and white stripy material then the club need to kick them for it or should have signed a deal with a better supplier.

Lincoln have managed to get a kit, Beerschot have, Boro have. We haven't.

When kits are a 1 year product, not having them available well ahead of the first game is a pretty fundamental screw up.

I personally don't care what they look like or whether they're decent material as my kids will want them either way. I just worry that we are acting like Dog and Duck FC and not a professionally run football club. In fact, Dog and Duck FC could probably go online and have a fully printed set of kits in about a fortnight!

If its not Laver or Wards then its not worth having on the kit. :)

Just over 2 weeks to season starting and they're trying to push the shit retro stuff because we don't have a kit. So tinpot

This thread is tinpot.

Then again we wouldn't have these issues with Sondico.

Juventus adopted Notts County's kit after inviting the oldest league club in the world to play the first game in its new stadium in Turin. The rest is kit history.
The autobiography of Herbert Kilpin is a good read and tells a similar story.
