Get on the blower to Birch, and get Halford in a fast car up the A34 from Pompey.

He can play centre back, right back and right wing, and if it's a tossup between being paid or not being paid,I'm sure that being paid should swing it.

If only we could. That would be fantastic if it happened but it wont

Think Williams, Collins, Ertl & Taylor sounds about right. I'd like to see another one of the young'uns given a go but if they aren't deemed ready, then I suppose there's no point. Kennedy has always looked solid when I've seen him.

I'd love to see Halford back, mind I'd not love to see how much we'd have to pay every week for him to be here.

So its one game only, not a total disaster then.

There is no defence of the second half performanc on Saturday!!!!

no mention of david weir making an appearance tuesday,im surprised he`s slipped under the radar.
desperate time,desperate measures!

From what i've heard Collins still won't be available so, my guess will be:

Simmo

Monty, Beattie, Ertl, Taylor

Flynn, Doyle, Willo, Quinn

Evans, Hoskins

Subs: Cresswell, Porter, Howard, Coneeley, MacDonald

If that's true surely it would be better to play Kennedy at Centre-back than Beattie!?
There's also an argument for playing Conneely at right back rather than an half-fit, out of position Monty.
Conneely, Ertl, Kennedy, Taylor have all played together regularly in the Reserves (and friendlies).
Therefore they should have a decent understanding and they're all in their regular positions.
I'd rather go for that as a one-off than a cobbled together defence.

Either way, both Defence's scare the living bejesus out of me. If i were Walsall, i'd be playing three up front on Tuesday!

Sure there will be a loanee in there by tomorrow.

you would think so, if this was any other team around us they would be doing. Just a thought had we contested maguire's sending off wouldn't that allow him to play tomorrow? I know theres nothing to contest but then we would have a centre half and collins back saturday.

Whats that davies up to nowadays? did a shift in the derby that time.

I really do hope we manage to get a loan defender in time for the game tomorrow. A defensive line including Taylor and Ertl doesn't really inspire me with much confidence. We're at the stage of the season now where we can't drop silly points, March was always going to be an important month and going into games playing players out of position we just can't afford to do it. Saturday was an awful result and the knock on effect of being without key players for the next few games could seriously put a dent in our quest top finish in top 2, but i really hope it doesn't! Can't bare to go through the play offs again!

The only good thing is that Walsall don't score many goals...........like Oldham :)

Four points clear of Wednesday, with a game in hand. I would have thought that this is one time we could afford to drop "silly points", provided we can be close to full strength by Saturday.

Walsall just ahead of our game just loaned in Former Dutch international, 36 year old George Boateng and former England Under 19's striker, 20 year old Frank Nouble have both penned deals until the end of the season.

Wendy, Udders and MK Dons all have two home games this week, and with us facing 3 away games in 8 days with a depleted squad, it could easily be as good as level between all three by the middle of next week.

Whatever the situation will be, I think DW will keep his cards close to his chest and we won't know for certain until half an hour before kick-off.

I can think of a few occasions in the past when we've gone into games with depleted or make-shift squads and pulled off wins against all the odds. Let's hope tomorrow is one of those days.

If he does play some of the youngsters, it's a chance for them to make their name (in the right way).

I'd go with

Simonsen

Kennedy Taylor

Ertl

Flynn Doyle Williamson Quinn

Hoskins Evans Cresswell

In an ambitious 2-1-4-3 formation. If it works for Barcelona...

Williams trained this morning according to Frank Barlow (via James Shield)

He also confirmed Collins is likely to be unavailable till the end of the week.

So, it looks like being Williams, Ertl, Taylor and one other. Remember when Alan Wright started at centre-back to combat the aerial threat of Leon Knight? Those were the days.

If the above is true about Collins, it turns a disaster into a catastrophe. Also bad news that they have just signed Nouble, the pacey forward from West Ham.

The latest Morgan news is that he hopes to be back in training by the end of March, and then get a few reserve games in.

How about playing Taylor in the middle? His heading is generally good. I'd sooner play a natural defender in the middle and make do with someone like Cresswell at full-back again than gamble with a non-defender in the heart of the defence.

Cresswell, Ertl, Taylor, Williams - that defence has automatic promotion written all over it.

How about we play ertl, taylor and williams in a back three, with flynn and quinn operating as wing backs?

Actually, why not in that case go 3-4-3? We're not going to win this by keeping a clean sheet, so let's just have an extra person up front (Hoskins) and put faith in us scoring more than them?
