I think he’ll remember his time at United very fondly. Sheffield clearly had a huge impact on his personality and it’s clear from his Instagram that it played a huge part in him reinventing himself off the pitch. It should be looked on fondly that we contributed financially towards the hiring of personal stylists, shoppers and a dedicated fashion photographer.

Unrecognisable really.

All the best, Burkey. 🧛‍♂️

Kin' size of those shoe laces.. bet they cost no less than £400 either. He's got a bloody good agent that's for sure.

Hopefully the fans in Bremen treat the lad with a bit more respect than our fans did

Some of the comments from our “fans” on twitter facebook and on here were embarrassing during his time at the lane

Decent player in there if you play to his strengths , as we saw at times in the Prem
Decent player??????

He could run fast!!! That is all.

As shown in the premier league he is a decent player

That is his main attribute yes and as a footballer it’s a good one
Please give an example of the decent football YOU saw him play??????

Being fast is a good attribute as a footballer, end product is also a good attribute, of which he has none!

Absolutely no chance we got a a fee for him, the clue is in "undisclosed agreement'.

Probably met half way on his existing contract to release him.

I wouldnt expect Utd to have contributed to paying the rest of his contract up. Hecky did mention recently that we were open to letting him go but on the understanding that it made financial sense to Utd. I took it from those comments that he meant that we were fine to move him on subject to someone taking over his contract at the very least. I would suspect that that is what has happened. No fee involved but they have taken over his contract and we save the wages. Similar to what we did with Adam Davies from Stoke.

There were a few flashes in the PL. I remember he beat his man, cut inside and actually played a very cute through ball to Basham away at Aston Villa. Basham was felled and we won a penalty which we then missed.

Also at Arsenal & Liverpool (I think), he got down the outside of a couple of tacklers, got to the byline and pulled back but the crosses were either intercepted or nobody had gambled on his success.
He also should have had a man sent off at Arsenal.

Burke was our only weapon in the PL season for a large spell. Admittedly not a very potent one, but that pace & power is a nightmare for any defender to deal with and it certainly kept them on their toes.

We'd have settled up the difference with him. If he is on £20k a week, and Bremen offered him £10k a week, I imagine Utd and Burke came to some sort of agreement on the remaining £500k. I'm with Deadly_D'Jaffo here.

Because it whiles away the summer and is something to ponder as we do the gardening. No harm done either way, it's just talking about United and a lot of people find it interesting.

Always seems a stick to beat our great club with .

While not saying Robinson was brilliant because he wasn’t and isn’t, it was one of CWs more bizarre moves. Mind you he did like a reclamation job didn’t he
Just another gamble that didn’t come off. Sometimes I think he never actually looked in to who he was signing. Just had a cursory glance “he’s fast? Get him in”

Well Theo Walcott got nearly 50 England caps with the same skillset, so it works sometimes!

But what stick is being given out to the club on this subject matter? We are discussing whether or not the club will have contributed or not to moving Burke on. Nothing more. There is no fault attached to this 'great club' of ours in this situation. CW yes (in my mind anyway) but I that's a different debate.

Feels like a no risk new signing.

In fairness to Burke, it's not his fault he's a limited footballer, it's the people that have signed him.

It's the general consensus that we are skinflints ,that we aren't financially savvy ,that people within United world are somewhat limited in the buisness acumen .where the reality is we are being run on a even keel ,never a whiff of wages being late like other clubs close to home .
But hey ho , wheres the kit wheres the 6 signings ,wheres the money

Roll on Watford away

I think the issue comes from going from 9th in the PL and splashing cash like it was going out of fashion on players who have turned out to be shit, to being play off contenders in the Championship and looking at free transfers and loans (PH words, not mine). The only players we have with any transfer value would weaken us massively if they were to be sold.

Yes, we can pay the wages at the moment, but the downward trajectory is what worries a lot of people. I understand that some people see good in everything the club does, but it's not always the case.

For a large part in the prem he was our most dangerous forward , go back and re-read the posts from the first half of the second season in the prem

I'm not disputing that there are threads on here which unfairly criticise the club and there are quite a few posters who love to have a pop at the club at every given opportunity. That's their shout if they wish to do so and whilst there are many comments on here that I don't personally agree with, I respect that that is their view.

Anyway back to Burke and his contract. As stated I cannot see where there is any critisism on this thread levelled at the club re Burkes exit. We are just speculating on whether we have had to contribute or not financially to it. If you don't want to contribute to that subject matter then read something else (or get embroiled in a debate on a different thread about whether the clubs directors are financially savvy, or whether the club is skint etc etc). That's it really.

Well, it was a strange signing (Oli Burke) that followed a strange signing (Callum Robinson). Robinson brought in and never really used followed by Oli Burke who was the same.

When we did use Burke, it was apparent that not only was he big, strong, and fast, he was too fast. When he charged down the wings to the by line, and cut back with a cross, there was usually never any of our players there, in the box, to attack the ball. He was too fast. He would set off running with the ball, on the break, and opposition midfielders and defenders would be sprinting to try and catch up with him, while our midfield and strikers were somewhere behind them.

My guess is that if we had one or two fast players (as most teams seem to have), then we would have had lads arriving on the edge of the box as Burke was pulling back with the cross, and something might have happened. We've all seen it many times, opposition teams break out of their own half, and within seconds have two or three players bearing down on our goal, while we are still scrambling.

Anyway, for what it's worth, Callum Robinson has averaged around a goal every six games for WBA (1 in 5 during his initial loan spell), Oli Burke has averaged a goal every 14 games, during the same period of time. He's not a striker and never will be.

That being said, GLTTL.

This is surely going to rank as one of the most bizarre transfers of this window. Knew we'd offload him, but to the Bundesliga?! Fair play though, it's a great move for him and us but I'd be asking questions of their scouting team!

The embodiment of all the gear, no idea.

In footballing terms and his dress sense.

Whatever, the financial package details we have agreed, it originated with a multi million pound deal for Callum Robinson.

We now have neither player, and no money
