Recently signs have appeared on the walls along Shoreham Street and John Street about a coming development by Scarborough Holdings. It appears that this is McCabe's plan to build high density apartments aand retail outlets on the space behind the Kop and at the Cherry Stree/Shorham St corner as well. Is that likely to result in some kind of legal battle with the new owner? Surely the Council wouldn't give planning permission for apartments there would they? Is this a McCabe scheme to get some revenge or keep some control on what happens down there? Let's hope these kind of things are soreted and we don't spend loads of money on court battles. The club has said it is committed to the Blades staying at BL.

Signs have been there months. Think it’s nothing more than a ploy by him to get people talking and remind them he owns that tiny piece of land.

If plans are submitted you can reject them online through the councils site. If enough people reject them with valid reasons (not just united related ones) then any proposals might not go ahead once reviewed by highways and the council.

I think it already has permission. It will expire though, at some point, at which he would need to reapply; so there would be an opportunity to object at this point.

McCabe owns the land through the Scarborough group of companies. It's effectively his to do with as he sees fit, subject to formal planning approvals. There was planning conditionally granted for the plot on the corner of Cherry Street and Shoreham Street (Click here - SCC ref 17/00555/FUL)

If McCabe puts enough filthy lucre in the brown envelope it will get approved.

Dont forget that most of the council are pigs ! I remember Reg Brealey being really frustrated with the council when he wanted to develop the ground

How have people just noticed this? It's been there all season.
I know they have been there some time but the takeover talk just made me think that there is a lot background to the land that the Prince or club owns and that of McCabe which I hope doesn't sour things.

In other news weve sold Mick Jones to L666s

100% this. He did it with the hotel too until the club regained ownership of it. Absolutely no chance he builds apartments there. Who would want to live there?

Most Tuesdays / Saturdays you would be able to access your own apartment or park. Then you’re still hearing chanting & shouting at 9:30pm at night. It’s a scare tactic

Nothing more than posturing by McCabe to get the best price for his land. He had no intention to develop it but the land is worth a lot more with planning permission for flats than it is as a surface car park that gets used 23 days a year.

Brearley didn't have a pot to pass in, all gob no action.
Bollocks, he might not have been mega rich but he still got us out of the 4th Division at the first time of asking - by getting Keith Waugh, Colin Morris, Keith Edwards, all three costing 100k each which in 1981 wasn't the sign of a man without a pot to piss in.
