1990 away - unique for its colour
Colour was unique, yes. The template was identical to a number of clubs. Here's Man City's away and Everton's home from the same season. The collar and cuffs are identical. We were given a different pattern and colour

1991 away, loved the yellow and red with the black flash on one arm
Great shirt. One of my favourites. Twinned with these. Collars identical on all.

Oldham and Pigs home shirts also had the same template. Pattern on shirt and sleeve image were changed dependant on club.

1996 home

My favourite United shirt. Also Sunderland's home shirt. They got thinner stripes but the collar is identical and they too got text running up the red stripes

The year of the Umbro laced collars

Nice research there, must have taken a while. Anyway my point was that some of our adidas shirts were unimaginative, boring and one in particular was rancid. I'm glad to see the back of them. As I stated earlier, all shirts start from a template, its what you do with it from that point which makes it unique, or at least a shirt which holds tradition and identifies with your club. Lets hope errea present us with a shirt that ticks those boxes.

Mate, as i mentioned earlier, all shirts start from a template. Its how designing clothes works. However you can be creative to make a shirt unique, like our 1991 away shirt with the colour, or at least keep it in line with something that traditionally identifies with our club. Again I will say that the 2020 home shirt was horrendous, it didnt look like us when they were on that pitch. Adidas made a right balls up. And it also reminds me of the walking disaster that is called Ampadu 🤣🤣Lets hope we get a nice effort from errea, if not I will say the same about them 👍

I'd like to say it did. I wish I could remember how to do my job as much as I can remember random kits.

1983-85 home shirt for example was exactly same as the pigs shirt:

The away was identical to Liverpool and Arsenal's

There's loads - https://www.s24su.com/forum/threads/kits-twinned-with-others-templates.86875/
Yebbut my original argument wasnt that shirts have never been templated, it was that surely having control over the design (which the club have suggested the deal with errea brings) would lead to a more unique shirt than these standard identikit efforts, and that would be better. See post number 991

It does sound like the fluorescent shirt is back, which I love! Although I think I’d prefer it without a collar this time around.
And if the home kit is a nod to past greats I’m thinking Tony Currie. No pinstripes, black shorts and white socks. I’d love this also 😍⚔️93A38C3C-0968-4EE3-BCDD-CB2FB3897F7B.jpeg

I thought the plain back was the problem?

We've tried a number of time's to reinvent the classic 89-91 away and never quite got near it.

The closest we got was in 2018. That's the best Luminous shirt we've had since 1991

I have to say this is my favourite luminous away shirt, prefer to to the original “luminous” but maybe it’s because of my age and I remember this one more

It'll be a while yet before we see the kit. The club works in a binary manner. So far we've had:

1) Adidas deal stopped and announcement made
2) Errea deal started and announced

the next stage is for someone to go:

"oh fuck we'd better start designing one of these 'non-templated' kits that we keep banging on about!

after that it's sorting out how to get them produced, then it will be sorting the shipping from Italy under the new Brexit rules.

Before all of this happens it will be time for the World Cup break and those piss takes of the pigs and their tinpot kit making will be biting us on the arse.

I joke, but I bet I'm not far off.
