The U18 Professional Development League regular season doesn't finish until Monday 9 May. However, the top two in each of the North and South Groups are dialled in for the end of season play offs. The play offs are to decide the National Winners. There is no promotion to the higher level involved. And, this is essentially Academy Division 3.

There is sometimes an element of pragmatism in who plays who, where in the play offs. As clubs try to fit games in amongst other games & events (like relaying pitches for eg). Anyway, all things being equal, if the planets align, etc it'll be...

SUFC U18 v Colchester United - one leg SF
(and I feel they'd try to play that at Bramall Lane if they can)

The winners would play the winners of

Charlton Athletic U18 v Barnsley

And it's unclear at the moment who would have home advantage in the Final.

I see the U18 Play Off SF v Colchester United is showing as Sunday 15 May, 3pm, at Bramall Lane. There might be some behind closed doors issues, so best wait for a proper announcement from the SUFC Development Twitter guy idc.

Bump for this afternoon's game at The Lane. Gonna be a great experience for the young 'uns

Charlton Athletic won the other U18 play off SF 3-2 despite being two down going into the last 15 minutes.

Is there a need to book tickets for this Ball_Sup (Phil) or is it just turn up?

I bought a ticket for the charity "legends" match but that was before this fixture was announced, and I hear that Paddy isn't playing in that anymore so I'm not overly fussed about that!

Much prefer to come and watch the U18s

Turn up...

The remarkable U18 season continues as we qualify for the National Final (v Charlton). Academy Division 3. One down at HT. Five goals in twenty minutes brings it home. I feel for Josh Smith. He scored the equaliser. But, of course, can't run to the camera for the photo to update his Insta. Check the deets on the Blog...

Anyone got any idea on when and where the final is?
No. But, I can help with intelligent guesses. When?
Quickly. I'd expect them to want to play it this coming weekend if at all possible.
Where?
They may draw for home advantage. Or they may be pragmatic based on which ground is available. Personally, I'd be amazed if it was at Bramall Lane. I feel they just want to get work on the pitch & stands for the EUROs underway asap. Chesterfield also may be difficult. Remember, we played our last U23 Home game at York City.
If it's an away game, I'd expect The Valley this weekend.

But, as I say, guesses.

I'm hearing the Bramall Lane pitch was dug up today. So that's ruled out for any U18 final.

Not quite the last SUFC game of the season, as there are some Community & Foundation Trust U19 games left, but the Academy U18 finish this lunchtime at Shirecliffe (ko 12 noon) in the U18 Professional Development League National Final v Charlton Athletic.

It will be a great occasion for these lads - silverware on the line. Get up there if you can.

Up here now. No idea how they're not winning. Stood with a load of Charlton (who I presume are family) slagging their lot off at every chance 🤣🙄

Peck & Arblaster look a different level to the rest

We’ve been very good the last half hour their goal living a charmed life. Their big number 7 looks handy even if he’s ungainly at times.

They've barely had a kick other than the goal, tidy finish mind. The two lads at the back for them have been great, basically playing us in their own at times.

We’re just lacking the final ball really they’ve done a good job of making it hard for lankshear but Christ at least one of those daisy cutters from the edge of the box deserved to find the corner some lovely strikes

1-1 Charlton commentator doesn't like the pen decision. Looked to me like he stood on our player's foot
