Chaps,

Also, want to get off this my chest. What absolute disgrace that we let this bloke go. He scores for fun when he has the right service. Blackwell's hoof style didn't suit him, he was expected to play alongside Beattie and the likes with the ball coming down from the floodlights. Donny's pass to feet stuff maximised his strength. He has scored them goals regularly. DW would have certainly got him playing/scoring at BDBL. Could certainly do with 'different' style to Evans, Cressy etc. Seems that Sharp is now off to S'ampton. Hope we get a fee out of this?

We tried it, it didn't work at the time despite everyone wanting it to work

Don't beat yourself up about it

Although i might get some stick for this, i never thought he was good enough to play for us. he has done well elsewhere granted, but never did much apart from fall over in a Blades shirt whenever i watched him. he had his 2 chances, lets get someone else.

Quality player at what he does best.

We rarely got any glimpses of what Donny have consistently seen for over 2 seasons now. Reasons very well documented on here and not open to (much) debate.

My last comment on this will be that, once again, a certain ex manager of ours has not covered himself in much glory as Donny will have trebled their investment. Investment we could have done with rather than a local opponent.

Nothing short of scandalous IMHO.

Best wishes at your new club Billy.

Billy loves his red n white stripes.

Good luck Billy lad. Shame you never got the chance to play for the Blades when we actually play football that suits your game better than Hoof

It was a massive disappointment for Billy at the Lane, but his love of the club was his downfall.

Whichever manager he played for, and whichever system he played under (it wasn't just Blackwell), he wanted to score too much. I've never seen a player get caught offside quite so much... and I've seen Chris Porter.

Will do well at Southampton, but it just wasn't meant to be at the Lane.

He should do well at Southampton, back with Neil Adkins and Southampton play decent football so if he gets the supply he should get the goals.

What was his release clause value? 2 or 3 million?

Thats quite a big statement of intent from Southampton as i didn't think they were that rich

They put a big bid in for Gary Hooper of Celtic - think it was around £4m. Their benefactor died last year but left the club "set" for the future; it's probably a calculated gamble in that anyone who can take the goalscoring burden off Ricky Lambert should probably get them promoted - which is now estimated to be worth £80m.

Donny for the drop then :)

Sell your best striker when you need him the most. Sounds like us :)

Good luck to him but we tried him twice and all he could do was be offside. Dont want him back

On the way back from Bury 606 had a soton fan on who claims they now are one of the richest clubs in the country.

How wrong is that though? one minute in admin the next shelling out millions on players. There has to be some heavier penalty than 10 points

But was it after leaving lots of companies they owed out of pocket?

That's how administration works i'm afraid but worse of all, normal folk like you and me are at the bottom of the pile. It's annoying that players who are on good wages (k's per week) are paid out in full first and any left overs are divided between the rest. Not right in my opinion

20% I thought.

As for Billy not suiting the style of play wasn't he signed by Robson, and at that time it was that he couldn't play with BT.

How many reasons can you give for him not doing it here?

It just didn't work.

To be fair the only player that did ok under Robson was BT.
